Why the base shape is worth a paragraph
A rectangular footprint is a deliberate choice. Vehicles are supported at points along a rocker or a frame rail, and the load that threatens a stand is rarely straight down — it is the fore-and-aft nudge that arrives when somebody leans into a stubborn fastener under the car. A base that is longer in one axis puts more resistance where that push happens, while staying narrow enough in the other to slot between a floor jack, an exhaust and a suspension arm without a fight.
It also parks better. Two stands with a 9" x 10.5" (229 mm x 268 mm) footprint sit flat against a wall or stack in a corner, which sounds trivial until you count how much of a small workshop is taken up by things that only get used in pairs.
The ratchet, the handle and the release
The ratchet column is what carries the load, and Ranger's design locks it under load — the mechanism holds by engagement, not by friction, so it does not creep as the load settles onto it. The part that gets overlooked is the release. Lowering a vehicle is the moment when a stand is least forgiving, and if the release requires reaching underneath a raised car and working a small catch by feel, the job becomes awkward exactly when it should be careful. A handle and column release designed to be operated from beside the vehicle is a small piece of engineering with a genuine safety return.
Welded steel construction throughout is the other half of that. There is no folding hardware to work loose over years of load cycles.

Six tons is 12,000 lbs, so the published table figure is either the rating of one stand or the rating of the set, and the supplied copy's combined figure only holds on one of those two readings. If your vehicle weight is anywhere near either interpretation, confirm the rating with us in writing before ordering — we will get it straight from Ranger. Guessing high on a jack stand is the worst possible direction to be wrong in.
Two things are true regardless of how it resolves. A rating is a ceiling, not a target — the number to compare against is the portion of the vehicle's weight that will actually rest on the stands, at the points you have chosen, not the vehicle's total weight and not a hopeful fraction of it. And stands are used in matched sets at manufacturer-designated support points, on a flat, level, sound concrete floor, with the vehicle's weight lowered onto them fully before anybody goes near it.

We ship to the contiguous United States, the lower 48. Carrier and cost are calculated live at checkout against your own address rather than promised here. Residential delivery is a distinct service from a commercial dock and carries a residential fee where it applies. Warranty
Coverage is under the warranty document Ranger publishes for its product line. We hold the document itself rather than a summary of its terms, so no duration is quoted here — ask us for the current copy before ordering if it affects your decision. Independently of any warranty: never weld, drill, heat or extend a jack stand, and do not disassemble one before a claim has been assessed. Modification turns a tested load-bearing structure into an untested one, and taking it apart destroys the only evidence of what went wrong. If a stand is damaged, bent or seized, it is retired — not repaired.
