Description
-Lanair XTD300 Waste Oil Heater — Value Package 1
Value Package 1 pairs the XTD300 heater with a complete chimney kit, so the venting arrives with the appliance instead of being sourced separately from a supply house that has never seen a waste oil heater. The heater at the centre of it is the ductable one: the spec table reads Ductable Option — Yes, which is the practical difference between this unit and the XT models alongside it, and the reason to choose it if your building has more than one space to warm.
What we would actually build a buying decision on here, though, is not the output figure. Waste oil heaters do not usually fail; they get neglected, and they get neglected in proportion to how hard they are to open. This one is designed to be opened.
A heater built around the cleanout
Burn used crankcase oil and you burn what is in it — metal, additive residue, the general sediment of an engine's life. It does not vanish up the flue. It settles in the combustion chamber and migrates to the collector box, and every month of the heating season it takes a little more out of the burn. A shop that cleans its heater on schedule gets a decade out of it. A shop that puts the job off because the job is miserable gets a service call in February.
The XTD300 addresses that directly. The chamber door is hinged, so opening it is a matter of swinging it rather than backing off fasteners on a ladder. There is a large side-access panel to the collector box, which is where the sediment actually ends up and which on many designs is the part you cannot reach. The burner lifts out rather than being stripped in place. And an hour meter on the unit means the cleanout interval is a number somebody can read off the machine, not a guess about how cold the winter was.
The supporting details are the same kind of thinking: a prime switch for the fuel line so purging is a deliberate action, and a noncontinuous spark transformer, which means the ignition transformer is energised for ignition rather than for every minute the heater runs. The combustion chamber is 10-gauge cold-rolled steel — a chamber that gets scraped needs the thickness.
Ducted or free-blowing
The XTD carries the ductable option, and it is worth being concrete about what you gain. Free-blowing, the unit heats the volume it stands in and the building distributes the rest, badly, via whatever air movement it has. Ducted, you choose: a run down the length of a bay, a branch into a paint or parts room, a drop where a roll-up door dumps cold air every time it opens. In a partitioned building that flexibility is the whole reason to buy the XTD; in a single open shell it is optional, and the XT models are the sensible comparison instead.
Will it fit?
Three questions, in order of what actually stops installations.
Can the structure hold it? This is a hanging unit with a hanging weight of 696 lbs. That load goes into your roof structure or your wall steel, and confirming it can take the load is the customer's responsibility. Get a qualified opinion on the connection points before delivery day, not on it.
Is there room around the cabinet? The cabinet is 36" high x 45.5" wide x 54" deep. Deep is the operative word: allow service clearance in front of the chamber door and beside the collector-box panel, or the maintenance access described above becomes theoretical. Clearances to combustible surfaces are set by your local mechanical code.
Are the services there? Power is listed on this package as 120 V-60Hz, 20 Amps. Compressed air is 2 CFM at 15-18 PSI whenever the burner runs, which turns your compressor into heating plant for the season — feed it clean, dry air through a filter and a dryer. Venting is 8" Class A chimney, leaving the cabinet at the top or the left side.
One caution, and it is ours rather than the manufacturer's: the standalone XTD300 listing on this site states its power supply as two 120 V legs, not the single supply shown here. Same heater, two different descriptions in our catalogue. Confirm the electrical requirement with us before you book an electrician.

What's in the package
The XTD300 heater, plus a chimney kit for installation. The kit as described in this product's copy contains a chimney cap, Class A chimney pipe sections, a storm collar, roof flashing and the connectors needed to complete the run.
We will not pretend to more precision than we have. Our product data for this package does not state the individual piece count of the kit, and it does not state a tank size — though the older meta text on this page mentions a tank. If the exact kit contents or the tank are what decide the purchase for you, ask us and we will confirm against the current Lanair packing list before you order. Guessing on your behalf is how a buyer ends up with a heater and no way to vent it.
Perfect for
- A multi-bay shop with internal walls — where ducting the heat is worth more than the raw output number.
- A first waste oil heater installation — chimney kit included means one supplier, one order, one conversation.
- A dealership service department — steady oil generation, a building that needs heat regardless, staff who will keep to a cleanout schedule.
- A fleet or municipal garage — disposal costs and heating costs are two lines in the same budget, and this collapses them into one.
Certification — the honest version
Our product data for this package does not claim a third-party safety listing. Some sibling pages on this site carry that claim from the manufacturer; this one does not, and we are not going to borrow it across.
The distinction is real and it matters to particular buyers. A manufacturer's own statement of conformity is not the same document as an independent testing laboratory's listing of an appliance, and insurers, fleet safety policies and local mechanical-code officials sometimes require the second. If any of those apply to you, ask us for the current listing documentation before ordering and we will obtain it from Lanair rather than answering from a web page.
Shipping
Freight, lower 48 states, crated on a pallet. The carrier delivers to your address; unloading is on you, and a forklift or a dock is the easy version. Without either, take terminal pickup — it is available on every freight order we ship and it is what most small-shop buyers choose. A residential delivery carries a residential fee, added at checkout.
Inspect the crate with the driver still on site. Crushed corners, torn wrap, banding that has moved: write it on the bill of lading, photograph it, then sign. A clean signature is the carrier's evidence the shipment arrived undamaged.
Warranty
Coverage is Lanair's; the warranty document is in the Downloads section of this page. House advice that applies to everything we sell: do not disassemble a part before you claim on it. Field-opened components generally fall outside the terms. Stop, photograph, and open a claim through our warranty claims page.
