LANAIR XT200 Waste Oil Heater Value Package 3

Please note: this package is configured for a roof-mount vent.

The question that decides whether a roof-vented heater is straightforward or expensive is not the heater. It is the roof. The flashing in this package is specified for pitches from 0/12 to 6/12, which covers everything from a flat commercial deck to a moderately pitched workshop roof, and the kit includes the roof support bracket, storm collar and finishing collar that make the penetration weathertight and properly carried. If your roof falls inside that range, this is a package you can hand to an installer complete. If it is steeper, tell us before you order rather than after.

The heater is the XT200: up to 200,000 BTUH across roughly 5,000 square feet, 1.44 GPH fuel input, in a fine-grained galvanized cabinet with an internal fan and adjustable locking louvers on the discharge. The chimney is 6" Class A and the kit is sized for a 16' eave.

Why a vertical flue is usually the better installation

Given a free choice, most installers take a chimney straight up. A vertical run develops draft naturally as hot gas rises, so the flue does more of its own work and is less sensitive to wind conditions around the building than a sidewall termination. It also keeps the whole of your wall area available — in a workshop that is racking, benches, a compressor, roller doors and, sooner or later, something you did not plan for. The cost of that choice is a hole in the roof, and everything in this kit exists to make that hole a controlled detail rather than a leak waiting for the first storm.

The trade is genuinely two-sided, and worth thinking about before you commit: a roof penetration on a leased building may need a landlord's consent, and on a membrane roof it needs someone who works on membrane roofs. If either of those is a problem, the wall-mount version of this package exists for exactly that reason.

Will It Fit?

  • Roof pitch. The supplied flashing covers 0/12 through 6/12. Measure yours before ordering.
  • Eave height. The kit is specified for a 16' eave. A materially taller building needs additional pipe.
  • Flue route. The chimney has to rise clear of trusses, services, lighting and anything sitting on the deck above.
  • Cabinet and hanging point. 24" x 40.25" x 48" (L x W x H), suspended, hanging weight 413 lbs. Have the structure confirmed by someone qualified.
  • Services. A dedicated 120V, 20 amp circuit, plus compressed air at 2 CFM and 12-15 PSI available continuously while the burner is firing.

Clearances to combustible material, the roof penetration detail, the structural assessment of the hanging point, fuel storage arrangements and any permit or inspection required in your jurisdiction are the buyer's responsibility. We supply the equipment and the manufacturer's documentation; approval of the installation is not ours to give.

What you are actually buying, in fuel terms

A waste oil heater changes two lines on a shop's accounts at once, which is why the payback arithmetic surprises people. The first line is disposal — whatever you currently pay a licensed hauler to remove used oil. The second is heating fuel, which the same oil now replaces. At 1.44 GPH the consumption side is easy to model against the volume you already know you collect.

The XT200 takes used crankcase oil up to 50 weight, conventional or synthetic, used automatic transmission fluid, and #1 and #2 fuel oil. In other words most of what a general repair shop drains, rather than a narrow specification you would have to sort your waste stream to meet.

The kit, itemised

Sized for a 16' eave:

Component Qty
Roof flashing, 0/12 to 6/12 pitch 1
Storm collar 1
Roof support bracket 1
Chimney cap 1
Class A chimney pipe, 36" 1
Class A chimney pipe, 24" 1
Finishing collar 1
Slip connector, 14" 1
Elbow, 90° 1
Black pipe, 24" 4
Black tee pipe with cap 1

The Class A sections are the insulated pipe that passes through the roof structure; the black pipe is single-wall connector for the run inside the heated space. They are not interchangeable and substituting one for the other is a fire risk. The tee with a cap is the flue's cleaning access, which on an oil-fired appliance you will use.

Perfect For

  • Owner-occupied shops with a conventional roof in the 0/12 to 6/12 range and a clear route up.
  • Open workshops up to about 5,000 square feet where louvered discharge covers the working area.
  • Buildings where wall space is fully committed and a sidewall termination would be in the way.
  • General repair and fleet shops already paying for used oil collection.

What's in the Box

Approvals, and the limits of one

Lanair states that all of its units are UL listed, which is a real credential and more than a lot of shop equipment carries. Be clear about its scope, though: a listing covers the appliance, not your installation. The flue route, the roof penetration, clearances to combustibles, combustion air and the way you store fuel oil all sit under local mechanical and fire codes, and an inspector or an insurer can require things of the installation that no product listing speaks to. Think of the listing as the first document you will be asked for, not the whole file.

Shipping and Delivery

This ships as freight inside the lower 48 states, with the price quoted live at checkout against your delivery address rather than fixed in this copy. It arrives as several pieces — heater plus vent components — so count them against the paperwork before the driver leaves. Getting it off the trailer is the receiver's job: arrange a forklift and an operator, or choose terminal pickup and collect it with your own equipment. Residential delivery is available and carries an extra fee. Damage or shortage must be written on the bill of lading at the point of signature; a clean signature closes the door on most claims.

Warranty

Backed by the manufacturer's warranty. Current terms and the claim process live on our warranty claims page. One request that applies to every oil-fired unit we sell: log the claim before anything is taken apart. Stripping a burner down to diagnose it removes the evidence an assessor needs, and it is the usual cause of a slow claim on an otherwise clear-cut fault. Photograph the unit as found, note the hour meter reading, and speak to us first.
