XT200 Value Package 2: the heater and the flue kit it needs, on one line

Waste oil heater projects rarely stall on the heater. They stall on the chimney — the wrong flashing for the roof pitch, a missing storm collar, a slip connector nobody ordered. Value Package 2 pairs the Lanair XT200 with a complete Class A chimney kit worked out for a building with a 16' eave, itemised down to the roof support bracket and the 90° elbow. That is the reason to buy this listing rather than a bare unit: the parts that make the heater safe to fire arrive with it.

The XT200 is the second-smallest cabinet in Lanair's XT range. The specification table on this page rates it at 200,000 BTUH over a heating area of 5,000 sq. ft., burning used crankcase oil up to 50 wt, used synthetic oil, used automatic transmission fluid and #1 and #2 fuel oil — the same fluids a busy shop currently pays a hauler to take away.

Will It Fit?

Five things decide whether this install goes smoothly, and confirming all five against your own building is the buyer's responsibility before the freight is booked.

  • Cabinet size. 24" x 40.25" x 48". Allow service room around it as well as the cabinet itself — the burner comes out of the front and the collector box is reached from the side.
  • Structure. Hanging weight is 413 lbs. This is a suspended unit, so the joists or purlins it hangs from — and the hangers you use — have to be rated for it. That is an engineering question about your building, not about the heater.
  • Power. A 120 V supply at 20 amps. One ordinary dedicated circuit, not a three-phase feed.
  • Compressed air. The burner needs 2 CFM at 12-15 PSI. Almost any shop compressor covers that, but the line has to reach the unit.
  • Flue route. 6" Class A pipe, and the spec table lists chimney location as top and side, so the cabinet can be positioned against a wall or under a roof penetration. This package is cut for a roof exit on a 16' eave.

What's in the Box

The chimney kit supplied with this package, as listed on the product record:

Part Qty
Chimney cap 1
Class A chimney pipe, 36" 1
Class A chimney pipe, 24" 1
Black pipe, 24" 4
Black tee pipe with cap 1
Elbow, 90° 1
Slip connector, 14" 1
Storm collar 1
Finishing collar 1
Roof flashing, 0/12-6/12 pitch 1
Roof support bracket 1

Read that list against your own roof before you order. The flashing covers pitches from flat to 6/12; a steeper roof needs a different one. The kit is sized for a 16' eave, so a taller building needs additional Class A sections, and a shorter one leaves you with spare pipe rather than a problem.

Why the chimney is the part that matters

A waste oil heater is a combustion appliance, and the flue is what makes it behave. Class A insulated pipe is what keeps the hot section of the run safe where it passes through a roof; the storm collar and flashing are what stop that penetration leaking; the roof support bracket is what stops the stack moving in wind. Getting one of those wrong does not usually show up as a heating problem. It shows up as a draft problem, a water stain, or an inspection that does not pass.

The heater end of the run is designed to suit either arrangement. Because the chimney can leave the cabinet from the top or the side, you can hang the unit tight to a wall and turn the flue with the supplied elbow, or run it straight up. That is why the kit contains both black pipe for the interior run and Class A sections for the insulated part.

What the burner is doing with your used oil

The XT series burner atomises used oil with compressed air rather than relying on fuel pressure alone, which is why the specification calls for a small, steady air supply rather than a large one. The combustion chamber is 12 gauge CRS — heavy cold-rolled steel, chosen because the chamber is the component that lives with the flame. The cabinet is fine-grained galvanized steel for rust resistance in a damp or salty shop, an internal fan keeps the running noise down, and adjustable locking louvers let you aim the discharge at the part of the floor that actually needs it rather than at the ceiling.

The economic case is straightforward and worth doing honestly with your own numbers: the fuel is oil you already have, and the saving is the disposal cost you stop paying plus the heating fuel you stop buying. Both of those are local figures. We quote neither.

Perfect For

  • Independent repair shops generating steady drain oil and heating a bay of roughly this size.
  • Fleet and municipal garages where used oil is already a tracked waste stream.
  • Quick-lube and tire operations with high oil volume and open bay doors.
  • Farm and equipment shops that also generate used hydraulic and transmission fluid.
  • Serious home and collector garages with a suitable structure to hang from and a route to the roof.

Safety listing, honestly

Lanair's own copy for the XT range states that its units are UL listed, and that claim is carried on this product record. Two things are worth saying plainly anyway. First, a national safety listing on the appliance is not the same thing as approval to install it in your building — a waste oil appliance and its flue are usually a local permit matter, and some jurisdictions and insurers have their own conditions about burning used oil indoors. Second, if a listing document is a requirement for your insurer or your inspector, ask us for it in writing before you buy rather than after the unit is hanging.

Shipping and Delivery

This ships as freight to the lower 48 states, and freight is quoted live at checkout rather than baked into the page. Two practical points. You need a way to get a crated heater off the back of a truck — a forklift, a loading dock, or a plan to collect it from the carrier's terminal instead. And residential delivery is a different service from commercial delivery and carries a fee, so tell us which one you need before the order moves. When the shipment arrives, walk around it before you sign: any dent, tear or crush damage goes on the bill of lading in writing at the moment of delivery. A signed clean BOL is very hard to argue with afterwards.

Warranty

This unit is covered by the manufacturer's warranty; the terms are not restated here because they are not stated in the data we hold for this listing, and we would rather point you at the real document than paraphrase it. Our warranty claims page explains how to start a claim. One rule worth knowing in advance: do not disassemble a unit before a claim is raised. A stripped burner or chamber is usually the end of the claim, and the manufacturer will normally want to see the fault as it presented.
