Lanair XT200: designed around the clean-out, not around the brochure
Anyone who has owned a waste oil heater will tell you the same thing: the appliance is easy, the maintenance is the job. Unrefined fuel leaves residue, residue collects, and how quickly you can get at it decides whether the unit gets serviced properly in year four or quietly gets switched off. The XT200 is built for that reality. It has a hinged combustion chamber door rather than a bolted panel, a large side-access clean-out panel to the collector box, and a burner designed to be removed for bench work.
The rest of the specification is refreshingly undramatic: 200,000 BTUH across a heating area of 5,000 sq. ft., hung from the roof structure, fed from a single 120 V supply at 20 amps and 2 CFM of shop air at 12-15 PSI. No gas connection, no three-phase feed, no fuel delivery.
The three details that show up in year three
Beyond the access panels, this generation of XT carries three items that look minor on a spec sheet and turn out to matter.
An hour meter. Service intervals on a waste oil burner are a function of running hours, not calendar months, and a shop that heats sixteen hours a day in Minnesota is on a completely different schedule from one in Georgia. A meter converts servicing from a guess into a plan — and if you ever need to make a warranty case, having genuine running hours is worth more than an opinion about how much the thing gets used.
A prime switch. Filters get changed and tanks get run dry, and both leave air in the fuel line. A dedicated prime function turns bleeding the system through into a deliberate two-minute operation instead of an argument with the ignition sequence.
A non-continuous spark transformer. The ignition fires when it is needed rather than running whenever the burner does. Fewer running hours on a consumable component is a straightforward reliability gain.
Fuel: 100% used synthetic, and everything else on the list
The XT200 burns 100% used synthetic oil along with other used fluids, and that claim deserves more attention than it usually gets. The proportion of synthetic in a modern shop's drain oil keeps climbing, and a tank that is entirely synthetic is a genuinely different fuel from the conventional oil older appliances were designed around.
The specification also lists used crankcase oil up to 50 wt, used automatic transmission fluid, and #1 and #2 fuel oil (diesel) — which is the useful fallback. When a cold snap outruns your used-oil supply, the unit runs on bought heating oil rather than sitting idle. Fuel input is listed at 1.4 GPH.
The exclusions are not negotiable and they are not a warranty grey area: gasoline, solvent, antifreeze, brake fluid and paint waste do not go in the tank. Contaminated fuel is the most common cause of a burner that will not stay lit, and it is the most common cause of an expensive service call that is nobody's fault but the shop's.

Cabinet: 48" x 40" x 24" on the specification table's L x W x H listing. Add room in front to withdraw the burner and at the side to open the collector box — a heater installed where it cannot be cleaned is a heater that will not be.

Structure: this is a suspended appliance. Check the hanging weight on the specification table below against what your joists, purlins or beam can actually carry, and get that confirmed by someone qualified rather than assumed.

Compressed air: 2 CFM at 12-15 PSI, piped to the burner. Small demand, but it has to be permanent.

Flue: 6" Class A, with chimney location listed as top and side, so the cabinet does not have to sit under the penetration.

Fuel storage: a tank, a fill route and, in most places, containment — local rules on storing used oil indoors vary and checking them is the buyer's job.

What the cabinet is made of
The combustion chamber is 12 gauge CRS — heavy cold-rolled steel, specified where the flame actually sits, which is the component that ages fastest in any oil-fired appliance. The specification also lists the ductable option as available on this model, so if the building has rooms the heat needs to reach beyond where the unit hangs, that conversation is worth having before you order rather than after.

One number to confirm with us: the hanging weight
Published hanging weights for this cabinet differ. The specification table on this page states one figure; a lighter figure is published for the same cabinet, and that lighter figure is also the one carried on the XT200 Value Package listings.
The number matters, because it is what your structural check is done against and what your rigger plans around. If you are engineering a mounting point or hiring lifting equipment, ask us to confirm the hanging weight in writing before you order and we will get it from Lanair. For everything else — deciding whether the unit suits your shop — the difference is immaterial.
Certification, honestly
The data attached to this listing does not record a third-party safety listing for this model. Lanair's copy on other units in this range does make such a claim; this record does not repeat it, and rather than assume the two are equivalent we would rather tell you the gap exists.
It can matter in three places: a local permit for a used-oil burning appliance and its flue, an insurer's conditions on your building, and a fleet or corporate policy that asks for documentation. If any of those apply, ask us to confirm the listing status in writing before you commit — that is a question we can answer in a day.
Shipping and Delivery
Freight only, to the lower 48 states, priced live at checkout rather than fixed on this page, because carrier rates move. Sort out two things before ordering. First, how the crate comes off the truck: you need a forklift or a dock, or you can collect the shipment from the carrier's terminal instead. Second, whether the address is residential — residential delivery is a separate service carrying a fee, so tell us in advance. When the shipment arrives, inspect it before you sign. Write any damage onto the bill of lading at the point of delivery, photograph it, and keep the crating. Damage reported after a clean signature is very hard to recover.
Warranty
The manufacturer's warranty applies.
