Lanair XT150: the fan is the distribution system, so where you hang it is the design
One row on this page's specification table tells you more about living with an XT150 than any paragraph of marketing. Ductable option: no. This unit is not a furnace feeding a duct network — it is a suspended heater with a 2,600 CFM axial fan and adjustable locking louvers, and everything it warms, it warms directly.
That is a real advantage in the buildings it suits. There is no ductwork to design, size, hang or pay for; the install is a mounting point, a flue, a fuel line, an air line and a socket. It is equally a real limitation in the buildings it does not suit: if you need heat in a parts room or an office off the shop floor, no amount of louvre adjustment will get it there, and you should be looking at a ductable model instead. Deciding which of those two you are is the single most useful thing you can do before ordering.
What 2,600 CFM of moving air actually buys you
A suspended heater has to fight physics. Hot air rises, and an appliance mounted at roof height will happily warm the underside of the deck and leave the floor cold. Two things on this unit work against that. The 2,600 CFM axial fan gives the discharge enough velocity to reach down a bay rather than drifting, and the louvers adjust and lock, so you aim that throw once, at the part of the floor where the work happens, and it stays there.
The fan is mounted inside the cabinet, which is a noise decision as much as an airflow one. A shop heater runs while technicians are on the phone underneath it, and an appliance that makes the bay noticeably louder is one that gets turned off on exactly the days it is needed.
Fuel and running
The XT150 is the smallest cabinet in Lanair's XT line: 150,000 BTUH, a heating area listed at 3,500 sq. ft., and a fuel input of 1.1 gallons per hour.
It runs on used crankcase oil up to 50 wt in either conventional or synthetic form, on used automatic transmission fluid, and on #1 and #2 fuel oil. That last one is the practical insurance policy: when a hard winter outruns your own supply of drain oil, the heater runs on bought diesel or heating oil instead of standing idle. The burner atomises with compressed air rather than fuel pressure alone, which is why the specification asks for 2 CFM at 12-15 PSI continuously rather than a large intermittent supply.
What does not belong in the tank: gasoline, solvent, antifreeze, brake fluid, paint waste. Contaminated fuel is the leading cause of a burner that will not stay lit, and it is not a warranty fault.
Will It Fit?

Throw: because there is no ducting, the mounting position determines the heated area. Plan it around where people stand, not around where a bracket is convenient.
Verifying every one of those against the real building is the buyer's responsibility, and it is far cheaper done in advance.
The hanging weight: our own records give two answers
We would rather say this out loud than quietly print one number. This listing has stated 453 lbs as the hanging weight, and the specification table on this page agrees. The weight field stored against the product in our catalogue says 413 lbs, which is also the figure printed on the XT150 Value Package listings.
Both cannot be correct, and we are not going to average them or guess which is newer. It matters in exactly one place, but an important one: the structural check on whatever you are hanging this from, and any lifting equipment you hire to put it there. If you are engineering a mounting point, ask us to confirm the hanging weight in writing before you order and we will get the current figure from Lanair. For deciding whether the heater suits your shop, the difference changes nothing.

Build
The combustion chamber is 12 gauge CRS — heavy cold-rolled steel, used where the flame sits, which is the component that ages first in any oil-fired appliance. The cabinet is fine-grained galvanized steel, specified for rust resistance, which is not cosmetic on a machine that spends a decade suspended above a floor being washed down in a building full of solvent and winter salt.
Certification, honestly
The data attached to this listing does not record a third-party safety listing for this model, and we will not imply one exists. Lanair's copy on other units in this range does make a listing claim; this record does not repeat it, and that difference is a question worth asking rather than an assumption worth making.
Where it can bite: the local permit for a used-oil burning appliance and its flue, an insurer's conditions on the building, or a fleet or corporate policy that requires documentation on file. If any of those apply to you, ask us to confirm the listing status in writing before you buy. It is a question we can answer quickly, and a much better one to ask now than after an inspection.
Shipping and Delivery
Freight, to the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout rather than printed here where it would go out of date. Settle two things before you order. Unloading is yours — a crated heater needs a forklift or a dock, or you arrange to collect it from the carrier's terminal. And say whether the delivery address is residential, because residential delivery is a separate service with a fee attached. When it arrives, inspect the crate before signing anything: damage written on the bill of lading at handover is a claim you can pursue, and damage found after a clean signature usually is not. Photograph anything you are unsure about and keep the packaging until the unit runs.
Warranty
