Tuxedo MR6K-48X: a 6,000 lb mid-rise that does not have to own the bay

The interesting thing about the MR6K-48X is not its capacity — plenty of mid-rise scissors lift 6,000 lbs. It is that the whole machine is built to be moved. The power unit is dolly-mounted rather than fixed to a wall or a column, and the lift itself is a portable design: it goes where the work is and comes back out afterwards. For a shop with no bay to give up permanently, and for a home garage that still has to park cars in it, that decision is worth more than a capacity headline nobody ever reaches.

The rest follows from the same idea. A single-point lock release drops the lift from one control rather than two latches coaxed in sequence. Extended adjustable lift arms with rubberised lift pads take cars, vans and light-duty trucks on the same set of arms. It is at its best on tyre, wheel and brake work, collision repair and new-vehicle preparation, where you want the car up to a working height fast and you do not need to stand underneath it.

Will It Fit?

A mid-rise is easier to place than a two-post — no ceiling calculation, no overhead beam — but it is not a small object. Check these against your floor before ordering, and read the disclosure section below before you plan a bay around any of them:

• Rise height. The feature list on this page gives 48″ of rise; the specification sheet records 48.5″ at the platform. Either way, this is a mid-rise: it brings the car to working height, it does not let you walk underneath.
• Minimum height. 7″ at the pad. That is the clearance a low car has to get over, and it is the number that decides whether a sports car can be driven on at all.
• Width. The lift adjusts from 39.6″ at its narrowest. The maximum width is contested between our data and the manufacturer's — see below.
• Pad spread. Pad length adjusts 24″ to 83″ and pad width 26.5″ to 61.5″, which is the range that actually determines whether your vehicles sit on it properly.
• Length. Contested — see below. Do not lay out a bay from the length figure on this page without confirming it with us first.
• Power. 115 VAC, single phase. The circuit amperage is contested — see below, and do not have an electrician cut a circuit before you have it in writing from us.

Measuring the floor, the door and the circuit is the buyer's responsibility. A lift that does not fit the room is not a warranty matter.

Four figures we will not assert, and why

Being straight about this is more useful to you than a tidy page. On four measurements, the manufacturer publishes something different from what our own specification sheet and spec table say. We have not picked a winner, converted one into the other, or split the difference — we are showing you what we hold, telling you where it is contested, and asking you to confirm before you commit. Each of these can cost real money if it is wrong.

Confirm the overall length, the maximum width, the circuit amperage and what is required to reach the higher pad height with us in writing before you buy — before you lay out a bay, order a lift for a specific space, or pay an electrician to run a circuit. We will check them against the current factory sheet rather than repeat what is on this page. The minimum height, the pad ranges, the capacity and the rise height are not in dispute.

Why the dolly-mounted power unit matters more than it sounds

On most lifts the power unit is a fixed installation: bolted somewhere, with a cable run, so moving the lift means moving all of that. Putting the pump and controls on a dolly turns the MR6K-48X into a machine one person can reposition — into the bay for a brake job, back against the wall afterwards. It is also why the portability claim is real rather than marketing: nothing has to be disconnected and re-installed to move it.

Single-point lock release, and the arms

Dropping a lift is the moment things go wrong. A single-point release disengages the lock from one control instead of asking you to reach two separate latches — fewer hands in the machine, and no releasing one side while the other is still loaded. The extended adjustable arms are the other half: the same lift picks up a small hatchback and a light-duty pickup without a second set of adapters, and the rubberised pads mean it does that without marking a sill.

• Tyre and wheel shops — the job this lift is fastest at, with the car at a comfortable height in seconds and no overhead structure in the way of a wheel balancer trolley.
• Two- and three-bay independent shops that cannot dedicate a bay permanently and need the lift out of the way between jobs.
• Collision repair and prep — panel, trim and detailing work where you need the vehicle raised but not overhead.
• Home garages with a solid floor and a standard single-phase supply, where the car still has to be parked in the same space at the end of the day.

What's in the Box

Only what the current product data lists: the lift, the dolly-mounted power unit, the extended adjustable lift arms and the durable rubberised lift pads. Nothing else is claimed as included, and we have not added anything to the list. The optional height-adapter set referred to in the disclosure above is not included — ask us about it separately if the higher pad figure is what you are buying for.

Certification, stated plainly

The product data we hold for this lift makes no third-party safety-listing claim, and we will not imply one. A manufacturer's own declaration that a machine meets a standard is a different document from an independent listing issued by a testing body after examination, and it does not stand in for one. Insurers, fleet and dealership policies and some local jurisdictions do require that independent listing for lifting equipment on a commercial floor. If any of those apply to you, verify the requirement with them first, and ask us in writing what documentation ships with this lift before you order.

Shipping and delivery

Freight only, to the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout so the figure you see is current for your address rather than a stale number typed into a page. This is a crated machine of several hundred pounds: you must have a way to unload it — a forklift, a dock, or a plan and enough people. If you have neither, ask us to route it to a freight terminal for collection instead. A residential delivery address carries a residential fee. Inspect before you sign. Any damage to the crate or the machine has to be written on the bill of lading at the moment of delivery; signing clear and calling later is how freight claims are lost. Warranty

Current warranty terms are published on our warranty claims page. We have not printed a coverage period in this description, because the term is not stated in the product data we hold for this model and putting an unsourced number next to a warranty is exactly the kind of thing that ends in an argument. If the coverage period matters to your decision, ask us in writing for it before you order. Regardless of the terms: do not take a component apart before a claim is open.
