Triumph NSS-11 (NSS11000): a lift you do not have to commit the floor to

Most lift decisions are really building decisions. You pick a spot, you drill it, and the bay is that shape for as long as you own the place. This one is sold as portable, and combined with a supply of ordinary 110 Volt power that changes who can realistically own an 11,000 lb four-post: a tenant, a shared shop, somebody whose garage has to be a garage again at Christmas, or a business that expects to move premises before it wears the lift out.

The other half of the model name is the frame. This is the extra-wide version, and the figure behind the phrase is a 118″ drive-through between the columns on a 130″ overall frame. Extra width is not a comfort feature on a lift that is bought to take trucks and full-size SUVs — it is the difference between driving a wide vehicle on and lining it up twice.

Included while supplies last: a Chicago Pneumatic CP WallAIR 1.5-HP wall-mount air compressor with hose reel and inflation kit. The option to add it appears at checkout.

Service on top, storage underneath

A four-post earns its floor space twice. Raised to a working height it is a service platform, with the vehicle sitting on its own wheels on a solid drive-on deck — which is exactly right for fluid changes, exhaust work, underbody inspection, rust treatment and detailing, all the jobs where you want the vehicle stable and the underside reachable. Parked at height with a second car beneath it, the same lift is a parking space you did not have.

The number that governs the second use is not the capacity. It is your ceiling against the height of both vehicles plus the deck between them. The lift itself stands 97″ to the top of the columns, and the runways carry the upper vehicle above the lower one. Measure the two cars you actually own before you assume it stacks.

Will It Fit?

Confirming the building suits the lift is the buyer's responsibility. These are the figures to measure against, and they are worth checking with a tape rather than by eye.

  • Length. 216″ without the approach ramps, with the runways themselves 196″ long. The ramps have to be somewhere even when they are off the lift.
  • Width. 130″ across the frame. Leave door-opening space on at least one side.
  • Height. 97″ to the top of the columns.
  • Drive-through. 118″ between the columns — the figure that decides whether a wide vehicle goes straight on.
  • Runways. 19.5″ wide, with two spacing settings. The narrow setting is 39″ between the runways; there is a second, wider setting, and our data records it two different ways, so ask us for the current spec sheet rather than taking a figure off this page for a marginal fit.
  • Lowered height. 5″ at the deck, which with the ramps is what lets a low front end load without scraping.
  • Power. 110 Volt. No electrician, no dedicated circuit, no supply upgrade before delivery.
  • Floor. Portable is not the same as weightless. Triumph's own manual and spec sheet are the authority on the slab this lift may stand on and on anchoring; ask us for the current copies and read them before delivery.

The two working heights, and which one you should care about

Listings quote lift height and buyers assume it is headroom. It is not. Lift height at the top of the runway is 86.5″ — how far the vehicle travels up. Height under the runway is 81″ — the space you actually stand in with the deck over your head. If you are tall, the second number is the one that decides whether you work standing or stooped, and it is the one worth comparing between lifts.

Eleven locks, one release

Each column carries 11 locking positions. A raised vehicle rests on steel rather than on hydraulic pressure, which is what makes it reasonable to leave a car parked up there for a season rather than for an afternoon. Lowering is a single-point release: one control frees all four columns together instead of the operator walking round the lift releasing each one. A lift that is fiddly to lower gets lowered carelessly, and on a lift designed to be left loaded that matters more than usual. Full travel takes 40 seconds. Base plates measure 11.5″ x 9.75″, and the lift is designed to work sitting on those plates.

Perfect For

  • Renters and shared workshops, where a permanently anchored lift is not an option.
  • Home garages recovering a parking space, which is the most common reason a four-post is bought at all.
  • Truck and SUV owners who need the wider frame rather than a car-sized deck.
  • Small professional shops wanting a drive-on bay that runs on 110V and can be repositioned as the shop layout changes.

What's in the Box

The lift ships with its drive-on approach ramps and its safety lock system, and it is sold as a portable unit. The current listing does not itemise the full accessory pack for this configuration, and we would rather confirm it than guess — call or message us and we will tell you exactly what is on the pallet for the build you are ordering, and what is worth adding.

Certification, stated plainly

We do not list an independent third-party lift safety listing for this model and we will not imply one by writing an acronym the product data does not claim. It is worth knowing the difference before you order: a manufacturer's own declaration of conformity is the builder making a statement about its own product, whereas an independent listing means an outside organisation tested the lift and audits the factory. Those are separate documents and neither replaces the other. Some commercial insurance policies, fleet operations and local jurisdictions specifically require the second kind. If yours might, check the requirement before you buy, and ask us what documentation ships with the lift — we will tell you what we know and where our information stops.

Shipping and delivery

This lift travels by freight truck to addresses in the lower 48 states. Freight is quoted live at checkout against your address, so the number on screen is a current carrier rate rather than an old estimate. The crate weighs 2,400 lbs and getting it onto the ground is the receiver's job, so plan for a forklift, a machine, or a group of people and a real plan. Where none of that is available, taking delivery at the carrier's local terminal is usually the simpler option, since the terminal is already equipped for it. A residential delivery carries a residential fee, applied at checkout when you choose that option.

Check the shipment over before you sign anything. Bent runway edges, crushed crate corners, broken banding and oil are the things to look for; write whatever you find onto the bill of lading while the driver is still with you, and take photographs. Once a clean bill of lading is signed, the carrier has evidence the shipment arrived undamaged, and arguing with that later rarely works.

Warranty

Triumph publishes a written warranty for this lift — see our warranty claims page, and ask us for the current document before ordering if the terms matter to your decision. One rule holds for any hydraulic lift no matter who made it: if something fails, do not take the power unit, a cylinder or a lock mechanism apart before a claim is open. A disassembled component is usually treated as a modified component, and that is the fastest way to lose cover you would otherwise have been paid. Photograph the fault, note the serial number, and call before you reach for a spanner.
