Description
-Challenger CL10AV3 Versymmetric 2-Post Adjustable Lift, Made in USA
This is the base CL10AV3 - no suffix, standard power unit - and it comes to you made in the USA and supplied with the 2 ft. column extension. That second point is the one worth pausing on, because on the rest of this family the extension is an accessory you find out about after the lift is on the floor and the ceiling turns out to be higher than you thought.
Capacity is 10,000 lbs. Arms are Versymmetric, offset at the front so one lift handles both symmetric and asymmetric spotting. Below is what our data holds for this configuration, including one height figure our own sources disagree about, which we would rather show you than smooth over.
Start with your ceiling, because that is what this variant is about
The standard build is designed to fit a 12 ft. ceiling. Floor to overhead switch measures 10 ft. 8.5 in. to 11 ft. 2.5 in. depending on how the lift is configured. The 2 ft. extension included here raises the columns for buildings with the room, and a 3 ft. extension is available beyond that.
Height is not a preference, it is a constraint that works in both directions. Too little headroom and the overhead shut-off bar meets the ceiling before the vehicle is high enough to work under. Too much column in a low building and you cannot install at all. Measure to the lowest obstruction over the bay - not the ceiling, the lowest thing: a beam, a door track, a heater, a light fitting, a sprinkler head. That number is the one that decides this purchase.
The overall height figures do not agree, and here is both of them
| Challenger specification block | Overall height 11 ft. 2 in. or 11 ft. 8 in. depending on column setting; 11 ft. 11 in. with the cylinder extended. |
|---|---|
| Our own catalogue field | Overall height 143 in., 145 in. or 146 in. |
| The description that ran here before | A single adjustable height figure that matches neither of the above. |
Three sources, three answers, and only one of them can describe the lift in the crate. We are not going to choose for you. If your headroom has any margin at all this will not matter; if it is tight, or you are ordering the extension precisely because it is tight, ask us to confirm the overall height in writing before you order and we will get it from the manufacturer.
Versymmetric arms in practice
The offset front arms are the reason this lift does not force a compromise on every vehicle. Set a wide-door car back so the doors clear the columns; centre a long pickup for balance. Arms are 3-stage front and rear, reaching 20 in. to 42 in. at the front and 37.625 in. to 60 in. at the rear, and premium double telescoping screw pads adjust 3.875 in. to 6.125 in. so the recommended lift point is usually reached by turning a pad. The directSPOT design on the front arms is aimed at first-try spotting, which is the difference between a job starting and a vehicle being reversed out and driven in again.
How it is put together
The equalisation system uses an oversized 5 in. diameter pulley and heavy duty 5/16 in. cable, a combination chosen for bend radius: the bigger the pulley, the less the cable is stressed each cycle and the longer it holds adjustment. Carriages are 48 in. elongated, spreading load along more of the column and slowing the wear that makes an old lift rock. The lock release is a pulley-less jacketed single-point system - one pull, both columns, nothing in the assembly to seize. Base plates are fully gusseted, arm restraints and pins are plated, the finish is powder coat, and dual integrated rubber door guards are fitted as standard.
Will It Fit?
Three width settings run from 11 ft. 6.5 in. through 12 ft. 6.5 in. overall, giving 110 in., 116 in. or 122 in. inside the columns and 100 in., 106 in. or 112 in. of drive-thru clearance between the carriages. Rise is 74.125 in. at the top of the pad, with 70 in. of maximum rise measured under the arms.
We do not hold Challenger's concrete thickness or strength requirement in our product data and will not quote one - ask us for the installation manual before you drill. Confirming the slab, the anchors, the headroom and the electrical supply before delivery is the buyer's responsibility.
Power supply
2 HP, 208v-230v, 60 Hz, 1 Ph, with a speed of rise listed at 38 seconds. Challenger's QuickCycle power unit, which is quicker, is a different configuration in this family and not what is fitted here. Have an electrician confirm the circuit against the motor plate before delivery.
Perfect For
- Buyers who want the lift built in the USA and are willing to specify it deliberately.
- Shops with generous headroom who will actually use the included 2 ft. extension.
- General repair and independent workshops covering cars through to light trucks.
- Serious home and enthusiast garages with the slab and the ceiling to support a full-size two-post lift.
What's in the Box
- Two columns with fully gusseted base plates and 48 in. elongated carriages
- The 2 ft. column extension, included with this listing
- 3-stage front and rear arms, plated arm restraints and arm pins
- Premium double telescoping screw pads
- Pulley-less jacketed single-point lock release
- Padded overhead shut-off system and standard dual integrated rubber door guards
Red, blue or black. The 3 ft. extension and the rest of Challenger's accessory range are separate orders.
Certification, stated plainly
Our record for the CL10AV3 shows ALI and ETL certification marked yes. That is a third-party listing rather than a manufacturer's own declaration, and it is what an insurer, a fleet policy or a municipal contract is usually asking for. If a listing is a condition of yours, get the requirement in writing and let us confirm the certificate covers the configuration you are ordering - including the column extension.
Shipping and Delivery
Freight only, lower 48 states. Have a forklift or a dock ready, or take terminal pickup instead; warehouse collection is offered too. Residential delivery is available for a fee. The freight charge is quoted live at checkout rather than printed here, because carrier rates change and a stale number in a description is worse than no number.
Inspect the delivery before signing. Count the columns, arms, extension and hardware cartons against the packing list, look for crushed corners, punctures and re-tied banding, and write anything questionable on the bill of lading with the driver present. A clean signature ends the carrier's involvement.
Warranty
Terms and the claim route are published on our warranty claims page. We have not printed a coverage period, because our record for this lift holds a link and not a term and guessing at a warranty length helps nobody. Ask and we will confirm it before you buy.
If a fault appears, raise it before anything is taken apart. An opened power unit or a stripped column cannot be assessed after the fact, which is the most common way a sound claim becomes an argument. Photograph it, note the circumstances, and leave it as it stands.
