Challenger CL10-XP9-DPC: the drive-on pad lift with a control station on each side

The DPC suffix is the whole reason this variant exists. Challenger's specification sheet lists dual pendant controls as fitted equipment on this model, where the standard CL10-XP9 does not carry them. On a 9,000 lbs drive-on pad lift built for express work, a second control point is not a luxury item — it is the difference between running the lift from wherever you happen to be standing and walking round a raised vehicle every time you need to move it.

Everything else is the express-bay proposition Challenger built the XP9 platform around: no arms to swing, no pads to position, drive on and go up.

Why a second pendant earns its place in an express bay

Express work is measured in vehicles per hour, and the time lost on a lift is rarely spent lifting. It is spent walking. A technician on the far side of a raised vehicle who needs to drop it a few inches to reach a fastener has to come back around, operate the control, and walk back. Do that six times on a service and the minutes add up into something a shop owner can see on a work-order clock.

With a control station on each side that walk disappears, and so does the more subtle cost: the moments where somebody decides the walk is not worth it and works at the wrong height instead. Ergonomics on a lift is not comfort, it is whether the technician sets the working height honestly.

The drive-on pad, and what it removes

A conventional two-post lift asks the technician to spot the vehicle, get out, swing four arms, extend each one, and set four pads against manufacturer lift points. The XP9 replaces all of that with two platforms you drive onto. There is no arm configuration on this lift because there are no arms.

What you gain is repeatability. Spotting is right on the first attempt or it is not, and the current page is direct about it: accurate first-try spotting is the productivity claim. What you give up is the pinch-weld access a swing-arm lift gives you, which is why this is an express and general-service machine rather than a body-shop one. That trade is worth stating plainly before you buy rather than discovering in week two.

The platforms sit low. Platform height is 2.25″, and the pad design is deliberately low-profile so vehicles with modest ground clearance are not a special case. Reinforced front and rear access ramps flip up and lock, which extends the usable platform length for longer-wheelbase vehicles rather than leaving them hanging off the end.

Will It Fit?

Check these against your own bay before ordering — the measuring is yours, and a lift that will not fit the building is not a warranty question.

• Ceiling. 12' required as standard. If your roof is higher and you want more, 2-foot and 3-foot height extensions are available; if it is lower, this is the wrong model and we would rather tell you now.
• Overall height. 140″, rising to 143″ with the cylinder extended. Measure to the lowest obstruction over the bay.
• Floor to overhead switch. 134.5″. This is where a tall vehicle trips the padded shut-off.
• Floor width. 138.5″ overall, with 110″ between the insides of the columns and 90″ of drive-through clearance.
• Rise. 70″ to the top of the pad; 68″ maximum rise under the platforms.
• Power. 2HP on 208v–230v, 60Hz, single phase (1Ph). Get the circuit in before installation day.
• Concrete. Follow the slab thickness and strength specified in the installation manual. Two columns carry the entire load into the floor. No anchoring on cracks, patches or expansion joints.

Three platform lengths, one decision

Platform length is offered at 58″, 66.5″ and 75″, with 31.5″ between the platforms and 24″ of platform width. Longer platforms take longer wheelbases and give the tyres more to sit on; shorter ones leave more of the underside open to reach. Pick against the vehicles you actually see, not the one unusual truck you might see, because this is set at order time.

Underneath, the equalisation hardware is sized generously: a 48″ elongated carriage spreads the load over more column, an oversized 5″ diameter pulley and a heavy-duty 5/16″ cable reduce the stress the equalisation system sees, and a fully gusseted base plate stiffens the column where it meets the floor. None of this is visible in daily use. All of it is what decides whether the lift still runs smoothly in year eight.

Two places our data disagrees with itself

We would rather flag these than paper over them. First, lift speed: the marketing paragraph carried on this page describes the QuickCycle rise and lower times, but Challenger's specification for this model does not list QuickCycle as fitted and gives a different speed of rise. QuickCycle is a separate variant. We have therefore published no rise time at all here rather than repeat a figure that belongs to another SKU — ask us and we will confirm the speed for the exact model you are buying.

Second, the pad height: one field gives a minimum pad height a quarter of an inch above the 2.25″ platform height quoted in the specification block. That is small, and it is exactly the kind of small that matters if you are working to the limit on a low car. If it is load-bearing for you, message us and we will check it against the current factory drawing before you order.

Certification

This model is listed as ALI and ETL certified in Challenger's own specification, and both marks already appear in this product's data. What a listing covers is the lift as it was submitted and tested. It does not cover your slab, your anchors, your supply or the quality of the installation, and if a specific listing is a condition of your insurance or a fleet contract, ask us for the current certificate rather than taking a web page's word for it.

Shipping and delivery

Freight only, to the lower 48 states, at a rate quoted live at checkout against your own address. Unloading is the customer's responsibility — plan for a forklift or a dock, or arrange to collect from the carrier's terminal. Delivery to a residential address is a different service to a commercial one and carries a residential fee. Warehouse pickup is available as an alternative.

When the truck arrives, inspect before signing. Look over the crated columns, the platforms and the ramps, and record any damage or shortage on the delivery paperwork while the driver is still there. Once a clean receipt is signed, a claim becomes very difficult.

Warranty

Warranty terms for this lift are published on our warranty claims page; ask and we will confirm the current terms before you buy. If something fails, leave it alone. Photograph the part in place, take the lift out of service and call us. Dismantling a component before it has been inspected is the fastest way to turn a valid claim into an argument.
