Challenger Lifts 4115XFO — 15,000 lb Open-Front Extended Alignment Rack

Four letters do all the work in this model number. The X is the extended chassis, at 277" overall length the longest rack in the 4115 range. The FO is front open — there is no crossmember spanning the front of the rack, so a technician walks straight in between the runways at the front instead of stepping over steel. If you have ever spent a shift crouched at the front of a closed-front rack setting toe, that single omission is the reason to choose this build over its closed-front sibling.

Underneath the layout it is a 15,000 lb four-post alignment rack on 26" wide runways, and that runway width is the other number that decides whether it suits you: 26" carries a compact car and a medium-duty truck on the same steel without a wheel hanging over an edge.

Will It Fit?

Challenger publishes a minimum recommended bay of 14' x 26' for this rack, and that is the figure to start with — not the rack's own dimensions, because you also have to open a door and walk around it.

The rack itself is 277" long and 142" wide overall. Clear space between the columns is 222.5", or 18.5 ft. Inside the columns the spec sheet gives two figures because the front and rear pairs differ: 120.75" at the front and 125.5" at the rear. Column heights differ the same way — 99.25" front, 98" rear. Runways sit 7" off the floor, are 26" wide, and are 40.625" apart. Rise height is 78". Maximum wheelbase is 183".

Services: a 2HP motor on 208V–230V, 60Hz, 1Ph, plus a shop air supply of 90–120 psi. Rise time is 85 seconds.

The buyer confirms the building. Bay length, bay width, door width and ceiling are yours to measure before the order is placed, and so is the electrical supply. We do not hold a concrete thickness or concrete strength figure for this model, so please do not infer one from another lift — ask us and we will request the manufacturer's floor requirement in writing.

Louvered ramps, and why not diamond plate

Challenger specifies louvered approach ramps here and says plainly that they are more effective than diamond tread or abrasive strips. The mechanism is worth understanding: diamond plate and grit strips both rely on a raised texture, and both lose grip as they fill with the rubber, oil and road film that a tyre deposits. A louvre is a formed opening — the edge of the louvre bites, and the opening is self-clearing rather than something that packs solid. On a rack a car drives onto several times a day, wet, this is the difference between a ramp that keeps working and one that becomes polished steel in a couple of winters.

Seventeen lock positions and the UHMW slide block

The rack offers 17 locking positions. More positions means a technician can set the runways closer to a comfortable working height rather than accepting the nearest lock and working with their arms raised — the practical reason to care about lock count is fatigue and time, not safety, since any of the positions will hold.

The columns use a UHMW slide block that is internally encapsulated. Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene is the wear surface that carries the carriage against the column; encapsulating it inside the assembly keeps the grit that a workshop floor generates off the running surface. It is the sort of component you never see and only think about when a rack starts to judder on the way up.

Open front, and what it costs you

An open-front rack trades a structural member for access. That is a real trade, and it is honest to say so: the closed-front build in this family exists because some shops prefer the front crossmember, and the open-front layout is the one to pick when technicians are working at the front of the vehicle all day. Challenger's own description says the open front gives unobstructed access to a vehicle's frame, and that access is the whole point of the configuration.

Where our sources disagree, and one thing the marketing copy gets wrong

• Inside columns. The spec sheet gives 120.75" front and 125.5" rear. A second catalogue field rounds these to 121" and 125". If you are laying out to the inch, use the spec-sheet pair and confirm with us.
• Column height. Spec sheet 99.25" front, 98" rear; the catalogue field rounds to 99" and 98".
• Galvanized coating upgrade. The manufacturer's shared line copy invites you to add a galvanized upgrade for the runways, jack rails and turn-plate pockets. This model's own spec sheet lists the galvanized upgrade as not applicable. Do not order on the assumption that it is available on the XFO — ask us first and we will confirm it.
• Alignment range. The two-wheel and four-wheel alignment rows on this model's spec sheet are blank. It is sold as an alignment rack and it takes the alignment kit, but we hold no published alignment wheelbase range, and we are not going to derive one from the maximum wheelbase.

Perfect For

Alignment shops and tyre shops that do this work all day and will feel the open front on every job. Dealership service departments with the bay depth for an extended rack and imaging alignment equipment to mount — Challenger states compatibility with current imaging alignment systems. General repair shops wanting one rack that services and aligns. It is not a home-garage lift: a 14' x 26' recommended bay and a 208V–230V single-phase supply put it firmly in a commercial building.

What's in the Box

The rack, its columns, the runways and the louvered approach ramps. The alignment kit is optional, and Challenger lists its contents as rolling jacks, an internal airline system and stainless steel turn plates. If you are comparing this against a quote that looks similar, check whether that quote includes the alignment kit — it is the single biggest line item that can be in or out.

Challenger lists this model as ALI/ETL certified. Both marks refer to third-party assessment rather than a manufacturer's own declaration, which is the distinction that matters when an insurer, a fleet policy or a local inspector asks what is on your shop floor. Two things worth doing before you order: check whether your specific requirement names a listing type or a particular scheme, and confirm with us that the configuration you are ordering — including any accessories mounted to the rack — falls inside what the listing covers. We would rather answer that question in advance than have it raised at an inspection.

Shipping and Delivery

Freight only, to the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout for your address so the number is current rather than a stale figure typed into a page. An extended four-post rack is a long, heavy shipment: you will need a forklift or telehandler able to handle full-length runways, or you can collect from the carrier's terminal, which many shops prefer for oversized freight. Residential delivery is possible and adds a residential fee. Before you sign, walk the shipment: count the crates, check the runway ends and the column packaging, and write anything you find on the bill of lading while the driver is present. A clean signature is treated as confirmation that it arrived undamaged.

Warranty

Claims are handled through our warranty claims page. We are not quoting a warranty period here because we hold no published term for this model that we would stand behind — ask and we will get the manufacturer's current wording sent to you. Whatever the term is, protect it the same way on every lift: do not take apart the component you intend to claim on. Photograph it in place, stop using the rack, and contact us before anything is dismantled. A part that has already been opened is the easiest claim in the world to refuse.
