BendPak HDS-14LSXE Limo-Extended Four-Post Alignment Lift

Buy most four-post lifts and you get a lift. Buy the HDS-14LSXE and the alignment hardware is already in it: heavy-duty turn plates at the front, integrated multi-caster slip plates at the rear, and multi-position turn-plate pockets machined into the runways to hold them. On a lot of alignment-capable lifts those are line items you discover after the quote. Here they are part of the machine, which is why this model reads as an alignment rack rather than a service lift that can be talked into doing alignments.

The second half of the model name is the length. This is the limo-extended version, with runways and overall structure stretched 30 in. beyond the standard-length model, so long-wheelbase trucks, extended vans, crew cabs and actual limousines fit on the rack instead of hanging off it. Rated capacity is 14,000 lbs., split 7,000 lbs. across each axle.

Will It Fit?

Take the length seriously before anything else. Overall length is 271 in. (22.5 ft) including the approach ramps, or 243 in. (20.25 ft) without them, and the runways alone are 229 in. (19 ft) long. That is a bay commitment, and the ramps need clear run-off at the loading end or you lose the low-approach benefit entirely.

Across the bay the lift measures 130 in. (10.85 ft) wide, with 120 in. (10 ft) between the columns. Each runway is 20 in. (1.65 ft) wide, and the pair adjusts between 37-1/2 in. and 51 in. apart (3.125 ft or 4.25 ft) to suit different track widths. Minimum runway height is 7.625 in. (0.65 ft) — low enough that a sports car climbs the extended ramps without kissing its air dam — and the lift rises to 70 in. (5.75 ft) under the runway, 77.625 in. (6.45 ft) to the top of the runway. Stand in your bay and check the 70 in. figure against your own height before you assume you can work upright underneath.

One number we cannot settle for you. The manufacturer's specification block gives drive-thru clearance as 98 in. (8 ft); our own product record for this lift carries it as 98-3/8 in. The difference is small and probably a rounding artefact, but a drive-thru clearance is exactly the kind of figure someone plans a doorway around, so we are showing you both rather than picking one. If it is load-bearing for your build, ask us and we will confirm it against the factory drawing.

Power is 220 VAC, 60 Hz, single phase. The concrete and the electrical supply are the customer's responsibility: the slab must carry a freestanding lift plus 14,000 lbs. of vehicle, and the circuit needs running before the installer arrives. Both are set out in BendPak's installation manual, linked from this page — have your installer read it.

Why the turn plates and slip plates change the job

An alignment is only as good as the freedom the wheels have to settle. Front turn plates let the steered wheels rotate and float while you take readings; rear multi-caster slip plates let the back axle shed the side load that builds up as a vehicle is driven onto a rack. Without both, you are measuring a suspension still fighting the friction of the runway, and the numbers move as soon as the car rolls off.

The turn plates here are aluminium-alloy, larger and more robust than the older slip-plate design while being lighter to reposition, with dual gap stops. Angled steel lock pins hold a plate still when you want to use the machine as a maintenance or storage lift instead — so the rack does not have to be reconfigured to go from an alignment to an oil change.

Built for repetition, not for a spec sheet

Alignment lifts live a hard life — up and down all day, every day. The parts BendPak has oversized are the ones that wear: cable sheaves are a full 10.5 in. in diameter, carried inside the runway cross tubes on 2.25 in. sheave axles. A larger sheave bends the cable less sharply, and lifting cable fails by fatigue long before it fails by strength, so sheave diameter is a durability decision rather than a marketing one. The cable itself is 1/2 in. 6 x 25 aircraft-quality stainless steel running through each column, with 1-3/8 in. roller axles and self-lubricating rollers.

Safety is layered rather than singular. Spring-loaded multi-position locks snap in at each ladder position as the runways climb, all four together, and the ladders are adjustable so the runways can be levelled against a sloping floor. A slack-cable detection system sits behind them as an independent backup. A hydraulic flow divider gives a controlled descent if a hose ruptures, and a pneumatic push-button drops the locks without anyone reaching into a column. Cables, sheaves, air lines and the cylinder all run inside the structure.

Perfect For

  • Alignment and tyre shops that need a dedicated rack and want the plates included rather than quoted separately.
  • General repair shops whose bays see everything from a coupe to a crew-cab dually and cannot turn the long ones away.
  • Fleet, municipal and agricultural operations aligning long-wheelbase vehicles in house.
  • Limousine and specialty operators — the extended length exists for exactly this.

What's in the Box

  • Heavy-duty front turn plates and integrated rear slip plates
  • Multi-position turn-plate pockets
  • Automatic levelling system
  • Runways with rail kit for optional accessories
  • Electric/hydraulic power unit and single hydraulic cylinder mounted beneath the runway
  • Multi-position safety locks in each column with push-button pneumatic release
  • Flexible protective conduit over the air lines and hydraulic hoses

Rolling bridge jacks are optional, rated at 7,000 lbs. each, and turn the rack into a full wheel-service lift by taking the vehicle up by its frame. Two runway lengths are offered across this series — this listing is the extended one.

Certification, stated honestly

BendPak states that this lift is CE approved and certified, meeting or exceeding European Standard EN 1493. Understand that precisely rather than as a badge: a CE mark is a declaration made against European directives, not the same document as a North American third-party lift safety listing and not a substitute for one. If your insurer, fleet policy or local code requires that North American listing, verify it against BendPak's documentation before you buy — send us the wording and we will check it with you.

Shipping and delivery

This is a freight shipment to the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout against your address so you see the current rate rather than an estimate that has gone stale. A 3,068 lbs. alignment lift needs unloading: a forklift, a dock, or a booked rigger. If you have none of those, take terminal pickup — usually the least stressful option on a lift this size, and often cheaper too. Residential delivery is available and carries a fee. Warehouse pickup is also offered, and the BendPak pickup locations are listed further down this page.

Inspect before signing. Any damage has to go on the bill of lading while the driver is still there; once a clean bill of lading is signed, a freight claim becomes very difficult. Photograph the shipment on the truck if anything looks disturbed.

Warranty

BendPak issues one warranty document covering its complete product line rather than a term per model; we will send the current copy on request rather than quote a number of years this page cannot verify. Whatever it says, do not disassemble a component you intend to claim on — a stripped cylinder or power unit is the most common reason a legitimate claim is turned down.
