Atlas TC755: the column tilts back, so nothing is in your way

Swing-arm changers all share one irritation. The column and arm sit over the turntable, and every wheel you load, every bar stroke and every reach across the table happens around them. The TC755 solves it differently: the whole column tilts back on a foot control. Press the pedal, the column swings clear, load or unload the wheel with the table completely open, and bring it back. On a volume day the seconds add up, but the real gain is that you stop clipping rims on a column that should not have been there.

The second feature is the one that protects the wheel: a pneumatic locking mount/demount head. Instead of a head clamped by hand and trusted to stay put, the head locks under air pressure once positioned, which sharply lowers the chance of it creeping into the rim mid-rotation — the classic way an expensive alloy gets scored.

An extra-large turntable that clamps 26 inch rims without adapters

The TC755 comes standard with the extra-large turntable, and the practical consequence is that it will clamp most 26 inch chrome rims with no adapter at all. If you are a tyre dealer or a large car dealership, that is not a corner case — it is the wheel on a meaningful share of what rolls in, and needing an adapter for it means an extra handling step, another part to lose and one more chance to mark a rim someone paid a great deal for. Clamping runs from 11 7/8" to 27 7/8" externally and 13 7/8" to 29 7/8" internally, taking tyres to 47" in diameter and 18" wide at the bead breaker.

Tilt-back plus pneumatic head: what changes at the bench

These two features work together and neither is fully useful alone. With the column tilted back, the wheel goes on and comes off the turntable vertically with clear air above it, so you are not lifting a heavy assembly around an obstruction — the commonest cause of both back strain and rim damage. Then, with the column returned and the head positioned, the pneumatic lock holds it at a fixed distance from the rim flange for the whole rotation. A hand-clamped head can be nudged by a stiff bead; a locked one cannot. On chrome and polished faces that difference is the whole job.

Bead breaking and Beadblaster

The bead breaker sits on the side of the machine and is button-controlled at the blade, so the operator's eyes and hand are at the point of contact rather than at a lever somewhere else. It develops 5,500 LB of force, which is what deals with a rusted or long-seated bead without repeated hammering at the flange. For getting the tyre back on there is the built-in Beadblaster: a single large-volume air release that pushes both beads out to the flanges long enough for the inflator to catch, which is how stiff-sidewall and hard-to-inflate tyres get seated without straps and swearing.

Be clear about what is not included

Two things, and we would rather you heard them here than found out later.

  • Assist arms are not part of this machine. The TC755 is sold without them, and shops running high volumes of stiff-sidewall, low-profile and runflat tyres should plan on adding either the E-Z Assist Arm or the Dual Assist Arm package. Budget for it at the same time rather than a month later.
  • The air supply is not included and is required. The jaws and bead breaker are air operated. The machine wants 90-110 PSI and must not exceed 140 PSI. Confirm your compressor can hold that under the bead breaker's demand before the changer arrives.

Electrically it is straightforward: 110volt for the electric turntable. The machine also requires some assembly after purchase, so allow time before its first job.

Perfect For

  • Professional tyre dealers doing volume, where the tilt-back column saves handling on every wheel.
  • Large car dealerships handling customers' chrome and polished alloys daily.
  • Shops running large-diameter wheels that would otherwise need adapters on every job.
  • Any bay where rim damage is the expensive risk rather than throughput alone.

What's in the Box

Supplied with the machine: the column-mounted inflator box with gauge, the filter/regulator/lubricator, a 20" tyre tool, a lube bucket with brush, a set of large plastic jaw covers, a plastic cover for the bead breaker shovel and multiple replacement plastic inserts for the mount/demount head. Not supplied: assist arms of either type, and an air compressor.

Certification, honestly

The manufacturer's published data for the TC755 states no third-party listing, and we are not going to display a mark it does not claim. Some commercial insurers and some local authorities do require shop machinery to carry a recognised independent mark, and the requirement is specific to your policy and your jurisdiction rather than to the machine. Confirm it with them before ordering; if the answer creates a problem, tell us and we will look at what else in the range fits.

Shipping and delivery

Shipped as freight within the lower 48, crated on a pallet, delivered curbside. You are responsible for getting it off the truck — a forklift, or a dock with a pallet truck, or terminal pickup with your own equipment. Warehouse pickup is offered at the locations listed lower on this page. Residential delivery carries an additional fee, applied once per brand per order. Inspect before you sign: check the tilt-back column and its pivot, the turntable, the breaker blade and the inflator box, and record anything at all on the bill of lading while the driver is present. Damage reported after a clean signature is very hard to recover.

Warranty

1 year parts only — parts covered, fitting labour not. Replacement parts and wear items are kept in stock, which is the specification that matters most day to day on a changer, since it is the consumables rather than the castings that take a bay out of service. If a component fails, take the machine out of use, photograph the fault before touching it, and open the claim before any disassembly, which is otherwise treated as an inspection you elected to perform. Everything starts at our warranty claims page.
