Atlas PSP-6000: The Lift for a Building You Are Not Allowed to Drill

Most vehicle lifts start with a hole in your slab. The PSP-6000 does not. It stands on large steel base plates rather than anchor bolts, which is why it can be used on asphalt as well as concrete, and why it can be moved instead of installed. For anyone in a leased unit, a shared building, or a garage they would rather not modify, that single design decision is the whole reason this lift exists.

It is a single-column lift rated at 6,000 lbs, and the practical consequence of one column instead of two or four is that there is nothing on the far side of the vehicle. Doors open. A creeper rolls straight through. The lift itself takes up a column's worth of floor and no more.

Will It Fit? Work Through This First

Every figure below is from the manufacturer specification for this model. Confirming your own building against them is the buyer's responsibility, and it is the check most worth doing before you order rather than after.

  • Ceiling. The column stands 95" overall. Measure to the lowest obstruction over the working area — a light fitting, a door track, a heater, a beam — not to the ridge of the roof.
  • Doorway. The lift rolls, and the intended route in is a standard nine-foot garage door. Measure the narrowest point of the path, including any turn, not just the door opening.
  • Footprint. The base plates measure 62" long by 48" wide. That is the area the lift occupies when parked, and it is the area a vehicle has to be positioned relative to.
  • Drive-over height. 4" at the base. Low-slung vehicles need that number checked against their approach clearance.
  • Working heights. 74 1/2" of lifting height without adapters, and 80 1/2" with them. Add your own height to that if the point is to stand under the vehicle rather than crouch.
  • Power. A 110 volt supply, pre-wired. No three-phase service and no new panel.
  • Floor. Because it is not anchored, the requirement is a sound, level surface rather than a specified anchor pull-out strength. The installation manual for this model is linked further down this page, and confirming your surface against it — including its condition and level, on asphalt in particular — is down to you.

Steel Where It Counts

The load path on a single-post lift is unforgiving: everything the vehicle weighs goes through one column into a base plate and out into the floor. The column section is 7 1/4" by 4 1/2" in 1/4" material, and the base plates are 5/8" thick. Those plates are doing two jobs at once — resisting the overturning moment that a single column generates, and spreading the load over enough area that the lift can sit on asphalt without sinking into it.

The Cart Is Part of the Design

The power unit is not bolted to a wall; it lives on the portable cart with the lift, connected by a hydraulic hose, and the cart has a steel handle so one person can push or pull the assembly into position. The cart also carries a small hydraulic floor jack and a steel oil drain pan.

That last detail is easy to skim past and it is the one that tells you who designed this for. A lift that gets rolled to the vehicle rather than the vehicle driven to the lift needs its consumables to travel with it. Otherwise every job becomes a walk back across the shop.

Locks and Operation

Raising and lowering is button-operated. The safety lock system engages automatically at several heights as the lift rises, and releasing is done through a single-point lock release rather than by reaching around the column with a tool. On a lift that is intended to be repositioned frequently, a lock release you can operate from one place — every time, without improvising — is a safety feature and a time saving in the same movement.

Perfect For

  • Body and restoration shops that need a vehicle up for a while and then need the floor back.
  • Leased or shared premises where anchoring into the slab is not permitted.
  • Service facilities needing an extra lifting position without committing a bay to it.
  • Home garages and enthusiasts with a nine-foot door, a nine-foot ceiling and no wish to convert the building.

What Comes With It

Eight adapters are supplied: four full-frame and four unibody, which between them cover both common lifting-point styles without a separate purchase. The portable cart, its steel handle, the mounted power unit, the small hydraulic floor jack and the steel oil drain pan are all part of the lift as delivered.

Certification, Honestly

The product data we hold for the PSP-6000 does not claim a third-party lift safety listing, and we are not going to imply one. That is a statement about paperwork rather than about the lift. It matters because some commercial insurance policies, fleet operations and local jurisdictions specifically require equipment carrying a recognized independent listing — if any of those apply to your situation, verify the exact requirement before you buy, since that is a question about your policy and your jurisdiction rather than about this model.

Shipping and Delivery

The PSP-6000 ships as freight within the lower 48 states at 1,050 lbs. You must be able to get it off the truck: a forklift, a loading dock, or collection from the carrier's terminal, which is often the easiest answer for a home garage. Delivery to a residential address carries a residential fee, quoted live at checkout rather than printed here, because freight rates move. Before you sign the driver's paperwork, walk around the shipment and write any damage onto the bill of lading — a clean signature on a damaged delivery is very difficult to undo afterwards.

Warranty

Warranty terms for this lift are published on our warranty claims page rather than stated on this listing, so we are not going to paraphrase a term here that might not match it — ask us and we will confirm the current coverage in writing before you order. One thing that applies whatever the term says: if a component fails, contact us before dismantling it. A part that has already been taken apart is the most common reason a valid claim turns into a long conversation.
