Atlas ATTD-412A 12,000 lb Four-Post Alignment Lift

Most alignment lifts make you choose. You buy the turntable pockets and the slip plates, and from then on the runways have holes in them whether you are doing an alignment or an oil change. The ATTD-412A ships with metal cover plates that drop into the turntable openings, so when the alignment rack is not in use it goes back to being a flat 12,000 lb four-post service lift. That one accessory is the reason a shop with a single spare bay can justify an alignment lift at all.

Underneath the alignment hardware this is a commercial-grade four-post rated at 12,000 lbs, running on a high-strength cable system with an oversized hydraulic cylinder mounted below the runway and a 220V, 1-phase power unit. The older way to build a runway lift is a chain drive with the cylinder standing exposed beside a column, and it has two well-known costs: the exposed cylinder sits precisely where a car door swings, and a chain system is leveled by adjusting chains, which is fiddly to set and drifts over time. Moving the cylinder under the runway removes the door-strike risk and takes the leveling routine off the owner.

What makes it an alignment lift, specifically

Built-in slip plates and adjustable alignment turntables are included, not sold on. The turntables sit at the front and let the steered wheels rotate freely while camber and caster are read; the rear slip plates let the back axle relax sideways so the thrust angle you measure is the one the vehicle actually has, rather than the one the tires are being held in by friction.

The turntables have multiple mounting positions along the runway. That is the fitment detail that decides whether the lift is usable on your mix of work: a compact car and a long-wheelbase van do not put their front wheels in the same place, and a rack with one fixed pocket forces you to compromise. With 183 1/4" (15' 3 1/4") between the columns and a 194 1/2" (16' 2 1/2") runway there is room to move them.

The runways carry built-in tracks for a rolling bridge jack — the Atlas RJ6BK or RJ6BKAH, sold separately. On an alignment job that is what lifts the wheels clear so you can check play, change a tie rod end or set ride height, without moving the vehicle to another bay.

Will It Fit?

This is a large machine and the numbers below are the ones to check against a tape measure before you order, not after.

  • Bay width. 135 1/4" (11' 3 1/4") across the columns with the motor fitted, 126 1/4" (10' 6 1/4") without it.
  • Bay length. 236 1/2" (19' 8 1/2") overall with the approach ramp down.
  • Ceiling. The columns stand 89 3/4" (7' 5 3/4") tall and the runway tops out at 77 3/4" (6' 5 3/4"), giving 70 1/4" (5' 10 1/4") of clearance underneath. Your ceiling has to clear the columns, not the runway — and if you plan to stand upright under a vehicle, the under-runway figure is what you actually work in.
  • Drive-through. 98" (8' 2"), with 112 5/8" (9' 4 5/8") between the columns.
  • Power. 220 volt, 1-phase, with a 30 amp breaker recommended. That is a dedicated circuit and an electrician, priced separately.
  • Air. The single-point lock release is air operated and an external air supply is required. No shop air, no lift — budget the compressor and the drop at the same time.
  • Oil. AW32/AW46 hydraulic oil is not included; plan on up to 5 gallons.

Floor and anchoring are the customer's responsibility. Atlas does not publish a slab thickness or concrete strength figure for the ATTD-412A in the data we hold, and we will not borrow the number from a different model to fill the gap. The installation manual linked on this page is the governing document — read the foundation section before you pour, cut or drill anything, and if you are unsure about an existing slab, have it assessed.

Perfect For

  • The independent shop adding alignment work — this is the classic case. The cover plates mean the bay is not lost on the days nobody books an alignment.
  • Tire shops — alignment is the natural attach sale to a set of tires, and a 12,000 lb rating covers the light trucks that wear tires fastest.
  • Fleet and municipal shops — thrust-angle work on vans and one-ton chassis pays for itself in tire life across a fleet.
  • Not really a home-garage lift. It is commercial grade, needs 220V and shop air, and is bolted down. If you want a portable lift for storage, this is the wrong machine and we would rather say so.

What's in the Box

  • Four-post lift structure, powder-coat finish, extra tall / wide / long runways
  • Built-in slip plates and adjustable alignment turntables
  • Runway cover plates for when the turntables are removed
  • Steel approach ramps
  • Mounting hardware
  • Air-operated single point lock release, lock ladder, double lock safety system

Sold separately: rolling bridge jacks (RJ6BK / RJ6BKAH), additional drive-off ramps, runway extensions. Not included: hydraulic oil, compressed air, the electrical circuit, anchors and slab work.

Certification, stated honestly

The manufacturer data we hold for the ATTD-412A does not include a third-party North American lift safety listing. We are not going to imply one. Nor are we saying the lift is unsafe — the honest position is that we have not been shown independent listing paperwork for this model and will not put a badge on a page to close a sale.

Whether that matters depends entirely on who you are. Many commercial insurers, most fleet and government procurement rules, and some local inspectors will ask for an independently listed lift and will want the certificate, not the brochure. If any of those apply to you, tell us before you order and we will go back to the manufacturer for the current documentation.

Shipping and delivery

This lift moves as freight within the lower 48, and the freight cost is calculated live at checkout against your real destination rather than quoted from a page that may be months out of date.

Plan the unload before you order. A crated four-post of this size and weight is taken off the trailer with a forklift. If you do not have one and someone competent to drive it, choose terminal pickup and collect the crate with your own equipment. Deliveries to a home address are available and carry a residential fee, so tell us the address type up front and the shipment gets booked correctly the first time.

Inspect it on the truck. Count the crates against the packing list and write any damage, shortage or crushing onto the bill of lading before you sign it. A clean signature is the carrier's proof that the shipment arrived complete and intact; once it is given, a damage claim becomes a much harder argument.

Warranty

The ATTD-412A carries a 5 year structural and 2 year hydraulic warranty. It covers parts: the component is supplied, while labor, freight and any lifting equipment needed to fit it are the owner's cost.

The one thing that will cost you a valid claim is stripping the part before it is approved. Do not disassemble a cylinder, power unit or lock assembly to diagnose it yourself. An opened component is generally treated as no longer inspectable and the claim can be refused on that basis alone. Photograph the symptom, call us, and let the claim be opened first.
