Atlas ATTD-412: a 12,000 lb four-post lift with nothing standing between the runways

Look at a four-post lift from the front and you learn most of what you need to know about how it was designed. On a lot of them there is a hydraulic ram sitting up in the open between the runways, and a chain running over the tops of the columns. On the ATTD-412 there is neither. This lift raises on a high-strength cable system driven by an oversized hydraulic cylinder mounted underneath the runway, out of the way of car doors, out of the way of the technician, and out of the way of the work.

That is not a cosmetic difference. An exposed cylinder in the middle of a four-post lift is what a customer’s door swings into, and it is the single most common source of the door dings that turn a routine service into an argument. It also matters for levelling: a cable system is adjusted at the cable ends, and keeping four corners even on a chain lift is a job that comes back around far more often. The rest of the machine is commercial specification — 12,000 lbs of capacity, diamond-plated runways, a double lock safety system on a lock ladder, and a 220V single-phase power unit.

Will It Fit?

This is a long, tall, heavy lift and the building has to be right before the freight moves. Confirming the ceiling, the floor and the power supply is the buyer’s responsibility; we would much rather answer a measuring question now than a return question later.

  • Ceiling. The columns stand 7′ 5 3/4″. Then add the vehicle you intend to raise, and allow for lighting and any ductwork above it — the column height is the start of the calculation, not the end.
  • Floor length. Overall length with the approach ramp is 236″ (19′ 8 1/2″). Between the columns you have 183″ (15′ 3 1/4″), and the runways themselves are 16′ 2 1/2″ long. Maximum wheelbase is 185″ (15′ 5″).
  • Floor width. Overall width with the motor is 135 1/4″ (11′ 3 1/4″); without the motor, 10′ 6 1/4″. The drive-through opening is 98″ (8′ 2″) and runways are 20″ wide.
  • Working height. Lifting height at the top of the runway is 6′ 5 3/4″, with 5′ 10 1/4″ of clearance underneath the runways — that second figure is the one that tells you whether you can stand up under a vehicle.
  • Concrete. A minimum of 6″ of concrete rated at 3,000 PSI. If your slab’s specification is unknown, have it tested before you order rather than after the lift is on the floor.
  • Power. 220V, single phase, with a 30 amp breaker.
  • Air. This one catches people out — see the next section.
  • Oil. 3-5 gallons of AW32 or AW46 hydraulic oil, not supplied.

The lock release runs on shop air, and the compressor is not included

The ATTD-412 uses an air-operated single-point lock release. One control disengages every lock at once, so the lift comes down square instead of one corner at a time, and the operator is not walking the bay pulling latches. It is the right design and it is genuinely safer.

It also means the lift needs an external air supply to lower, at 85-115 PSI, and that supply is not part of the package. If your bay already has plumbed air, this is a non-issue. If it does not, budget for a compressor and a line to the lift at the same time you budget for concrete — it is not an optional accessory, it is how you get the vehicle back down.

Locks that stack, and why the ladder matters

The lift climbs a lock ladder with a double lock safety system, which means the load rests mechanically on steel at every set height rather than on hydraulic pressure. Hydraulics hold a vehicle while you are raising it; the locks hold it while you are under it. The practical habit that follows is simple and worth stating on a product page rather than leaving to the manual: raise past the height you want, then lower onto the locks, and let the steel take the load before anyone goes underneath.

Built for a rolling bridge jack from the start

The ATTD-412 carries tracks between its runways so a rolling bridge jack can be added later. That single design choice changes what the lift is: without a jack it is a strong, tall service and storage lift; with one, the wheels come off the runways and it does brake work, tire work and suspension work as well. Rolling jacks are sold separately, so you can buy the lift now and add the capability when the work demands it rather than paying for it up front.

Runway extensions and additional drive-off ramps are also available separately, which is the other half of the same idea — the lift is deliberately extensible rather than fixed at one configuration for its life.

Perfect For

  • Commercial repair shops wanting a heavy general-purpose lift that also stores a vehicle overnight.
  • Truck and van service — the extra length, height and width are the reason this model exists rather than the standard-duty version.
  • Fleet and municipal shops running mixed light and medium-duty vehicles from one bay.
  • Large private and collector garages with the ceiling, the slab and the shop air to support it.

What’s in the Box

  • Steel approach ramps.
  • Mounting hardware.
  • Diamond-plated runways with a powder-coat finish throughout.
  • Sold separately: rolling bridge jacks, runway extensions, additional drive-off ramps.
  • Not included: the external air supply required by the lock release, hydraulic oil, concrete work and installation labour.

Certification, stated honestly

The data we hold for this model does not carry an independent North American lift safety listing, and saying so is more useful to you than silence. In day-to-day private and commercial use it changes nothing. Where it can matter is narrow and specific: certain commercial insurance policies, certain fleet and municipal supply contracts, and certain local inspection regimes will only accept lifting equipment that carries a recognised third-party safety listing. If you are subject to one of those, ask the party imposing it for the requirement in writing, then talk to us before you order. It is your decision to make with the facts visible, not one we should quietly make for you.

Shipping and Delivery

The ATTD-412 travels as freight inside the lower 48 states. At 2,800 lbs it needs a forklift or a loading dock at the receiving end, or you can collect it from a warehouse instead — the pickup locations are listed further down this page. Residential delivery can be arranged and carries a fee; that fee is quoted live at checkout rather than printed here, because carrier pricing changes.

Before you sign anything, walk the shipment. Count the crates against the paperwork, look for crushed corners and shifted banding, and write any damage or shortage onto the bill of lading while the driver is still there. Once you have signed a clean receipt, the carrier’s position is that everything arrived intact, and unwinding that afterwards is difficult.

Warranty

Coverage is 5 years structural and 2 years hydraulic, parts only. Parts only means the covered component is supplied and the labour to fit it is not, which is worth planning for if the lift lives somewhere a technician has to travel to.

If a component fails, get in touch before you take it apart. A stripped or half-rebuilt part is extremely hard to assess and disassembly is one of the most reliable ways to lose a claim that would otherwise have been paid. Photograph it, leave it alone, and call us.
