This is a power unit, not a tool. It takes an existing hydraulic cylinder that is currently raised by hand or by foot and converts it to air power: shop air goes in, up to 10,000 PSI of hydraulic pressure comes out, and the operator's hands stay free. Atlas lists it under part number ATEHTTLA5100, it is the featured power unit on the Atlas "Hi-Rise" motorcycle/ATV lift, and it is the replacement pump for the Atlas HT1005 motorcycle/ATV lift and for many of the Atlas rolling bridge jacks.
That last sentence is why most people are reading this page. A pump has stopped building pressure, or a jack that was fine for years now takes forty strokes to get a wheel off the ground, and the question is whether the machine needs replacing or just the thing that pushes the oil. Usually it is the latter.
What it actually changes
The cylinder, the ram, the frame and the lifting geometry of your existing equipment are untouched. All that changes is how oil gets to the cylinder. Instead of a lever or a foot pedal driving a small piston by muscle, a compressed-air motor drives the hydraulic section for you, and a foot pedal becomes a control rather than a source of effort. On a rolling bridge jack under a four-post lift — where you are already crouched, already reaching, and already holding something — that difference is the entire job.
The rated hydraulic pressure is 10,000 PSI. That is the pump's ceiling, not the pressure your cylinder will see in normal work; it is headroom, and headroom is what keeps a power unit from being the weak link when a cold cylinder is stiff or a load sits badly on the pads.
Will It Fit?
This unit is small enough to mount almost anywhere on a machine: 12" long, 7" wide, 4" high, and 22 lbs on the shipping scale. Before you order, check three things against your equipment and your shop air:
- Air supply. Working pneumatic pressure is 90-175 PSI. Any reasonably sized shop compressor covers that range, but a small pancake compressor that struggles to hold the bottom of it will make the pump feel slow — this is an air-driven unit and it is only as good as the air behind it.
- Air inlet. 1/4" (1BNPT). That is a standard shop-air fitting size.
- Hydraulic outlet. 3/8" (1BPT). Your hose or hard line has to land on that port, and this is the connection people get wrong when they are adapting a pump to a cylinder it did not originally ship with.
- Reservoir capacity. 200 IN3 of useable oil — a little under a gallon. A cylinder with a long stroke and a large bore draws more oil than a short one, so if you are converting something that did not come with this pump, confirm your cylinder's displacement is inside that figure.
Those four checks are the buyer's responsibility, not ours, and they are worth ten minutes with a tape and a thread gauge. If you are unsure whether your cylinder is a match, send us the model of the equipment before you order rather than after.
The plastic reservoir is a deliberate choice
Reservoirs on power units of this size are usually steel. This one is a heavy-duty plastic housing, and the trade is straightforward: it keeps the unit light enough to carry one-handed and to bolt onto a rolling jack without adding meaningful weight to something you push around a bay all day, and it cannot rust from the inside when condensation collects in the oil — which is the way steel reservoirs on air-driven units normally fail. Steel takes an impact better. If your unit lives on a bench in a busy shop, that is worth knowing; if it lives on a jack or a motorcycle lift, the weight saving is the bigger deal.
Foot-pedal operation
The control is a foot pedal, which sounds like a detail and is not. Lifting a motorcycle or an ATV is a two-handed job — you are steadying the machine while it comes off its wheels. A pedal means the pressure control is on the floor where your foot already is, so nothing about raising the load requires you to let go.
