Description
-Atlas 414 Commercial 4-Post Lift with Two RJ8 Rolling Bridge Jacks
The Atlas 414 is a 14,000 lb capacity commercial four-post lift, and this package pairs it with two RJ8 rolling bridge jacks rated at 8,000 lbs each — the heavier of the two rolling jacks Atlas builds for its runway lifts. That pairing is the whole point of buying this listing instead of the bare lift. A 14,000 lb four-post is bought to hold heavy trucks, and a rolling jack that tops out well below the axle weight of the vehicle on the runways is a jack that ends up parked against the wall.
The second thing to understand before you compare this to a cheaper four-post is where the hydraulics live. The 414 raises and lowers on a high-strength cable system driven by an oversized hydraulic cylinder mounted underneath the runway, fed by a 220V, 1-phase power unit. Lifts built the older way run a chain drive with the cylinder standing exposed at a column. The practical difference shows up twice: an exposed cylinder is a hard object sitting exactly where a car door swings open, and a chain system has to be leveled by adjusting the chains, which drifts and has to be redone. Putting the cylinder under the runway removes the door-strike hazard entirely and takes the leveling adjustment out of the owner's routine.
The 8,000 lb jacks are the reason to buy the package
A four-post lift holds a vehicle by its tires. Everything that requires a wheel off the ground — brakes, rotors, wheel bearings, tire work, suspension — needs a second lift under the axle once the vehicle is already in the air. That is what a rolling bridge jack is: an air-over-hydraulic scissor unit that rolls along the tracks between the runways, drops onto the axle or the frame, and lifts the wheels clear of the deck.
The RJ8 is rated at 8,000 lbs and lifts on a scissor mechanism, which matters more than the number alone. A scissor rises straight up rather than swinging through an arc, so the contact pads stay flat against the lift points as the axle comes up and the load does not creep sideways. The jacks are air/hydraulic operated and take multiple safety lock positions, so once you have the axle where you want it the jack is mechanically held, not held on oil pressure.
Both jacks arrive with a four-piece truck adapter set. Those adapters are what let you reach a pickup or van frame rail that sits higher and wider than a car's pinch weld, and buying them separately later is a common and avoidable expense.
Locks, and the air supply nobody mentions until installation day
The 414 uses a lock ladder with a double lock safety system, and the release is air operated and single point — one control drops every lock at all four columns at the same time, instead of you walking the lift and freeing them individually.
It also means the lift will not lower without compressed air. An external air supply is required and is not included with the lift or with the jacks, which are also air/hydraulic. If your building has no shop air, budget for a compressor and a line to the lift at the same time you budget for the lift.
Will it fit, and what will it need?
Electrically, the 414 runs on 220V, 1-phase power and Atlas recommends a 30 amp breaker. That is a dedicated circuit run by an electrician, not an extension from an existing outlet, and it is worth pricing before you order.
The lift is described by Atlas as extra tall, extra wide and extra long, with diamond-plated runways and steel approach ramps included. We do not publish ceiling-height, runway-length or drive-through figures for this model here, because the manufacturer data we hold for the 414 does not include a dimension table and we will not estimate one for you. Before you commit, send us your ceiling height, your bay width and your door opening and we will check them against the current factory drawing. Concrete thickness and slab strength are the installer's and the owner's responsibility, and the installation manual is the governing document — the manual for this model is linked further down this page.
Perfect For
- Truck and fleet shops — the 14,000 lb rating plus 8,000 lb jacks covers three-quarter and one-ton pickups, work vans and box-body chassis that a lighter hobby-grade lift cannot legally hold.
- General repair shops — a four-post drives on in seconds, so it is the bay you use for exhaust, driveline, fluid and inspection work, and the jacks turn it into a brake and tire bay when you need one.
- Serious home and collector garages with commercial ambitions — this is a commercial-grade lift bolted down and wired properly, not a portable storage lift. Buy it if you want capacity and duty cycle rather than the ability to move it.

Certification — what we can and cannot tell you
We will only tell you what the manufacturer data actually says. The information we hold for the 414 and the RJ8 does not include a third-party North American lift safety listing for either item. That is not the same as saying the lift is unsafe, and it is not the same as saying no listing exists — it means we have not been shown one and will not imply one on your behalf.
It matters to a specific set of buyers: some commercial insurers, most fleet and municipal procurement policies, and some local building or fire inspectors require a lift carrying an independent safety listing, and they ask for the paperwork rather than the marketing. If you are in that group, ask us before you order and we will go back to the manufacturer for the current documentation rather than guess.
Shipping and delivery
This lift and the jacks ship as freight to the lower 48. Freight is quoted live at checkout for your actual destination, so the figure you see is current rather than an estimate baked into a page.
You must be able to receive a freight shipment. A crated four-post at this weight comes off the trailer with a forklift, so either you have equipment and someone to run it, or you take terminal pickup and collect it yourself. Residential delivery is available and carries a residential fee — tell us up front if the address is a home so the shipment is booked correctly the first time.
Inspect the shipment before you sign. Walk the crate, count the pieces against the packing list, and write any damage, shortage or crush onto the bill of lading while the driver is still there. A signed clean BOL is the carrier's evidence that everything arrived intact, and a claim made afterwards is a much harder conversation.
Warranty
The 414 carries a 5 yr structural and 2 yr hydraulic warranty, parts only. The RJ8 jacks carry 1 yr, parts only. Parts only means the covered component is supplied — labor, freight and any lift-truck or crane time to fit it are yours.
One rule that protects your claim: do not disassemble a component before the claim is approved. A cylinder, power unit or lock assembly that has been opened is usually treated as no longer inspectable, and a warranty that would have been honored can be voided by a well-intentioned diagnosis. Photograph the fault, call us, and let us open the claim first.
