AMGO OHX-10: a 10,000 lb clear-floor lift built from one-piece columns

Two-post columns are usually shipped in sections and bolted together on your floor. The OHX-10 does not: each column is a single piece. That is a dull line on a feature list and a genuinely useful one in a workshop. A one-piece column has no mid-height joint to align, nothing to shim square, and no bolted seam that has to stay true while a 10,000 lb load runs up and down past it. Installation is shorter and there is one fewer thing to get wrong.

The rest of the lift is a straightforward, well-equipped clear-floor two-post: 10,000 lbs of capacity, Super Asymmetric arms that will take a vehicle asymmetrically or symmetrically, a single-point release that unlocks both columns at once, and a rubber pad set our own data lists at 1.5″, 2.5″ and 5″ — see the note below on what is and is not confirmed to be in the crate.

Will It Fit?

Check every figure below against your own bay before you order. The measuring is the buyer's job, and a two-post that does not fit goes back on a truck.

  • Ceiling. 144″ to the top of the overhead beam. Measure to the lowest obstruction over the bay - the door track, a light, a heater flue - rather than to the roof deck.
  • Floor width. Listed on this page as 135 15/16″ to 140 7/8″ overall, with 112 19/32″ to 118 1/2″ between the columns (published here as a range — disputed, see below). Plan against the narrow end.
  • Drive-through. Listed on this page as 100 3/16″ to 106 3/32″ between the carriages (also published here as a range — disputed, see below). Check the narrow end against your widest regular vehicle, mirror to mirror.
  • Lowest pad. The product data gives two different minimum pad heights and we would rather flag that than pick one: the specification sheet says 3 3/8″, while the catalogue field says 3.5″. If you are working to the last eighth of an inch on a low car, confirm it with us before ordering.
  • Power. 2.0HP at 220V / 60Hz, single phase, on a dedicated circuit that exists before the lift is stood up.
  • Concrete. The slab thickness and strength the anchors require are in the installation manual, not the marketing copy. Read it before you order, and if you do not know what your floor is made of, core it. Never anchor on a crack or across an expansion joint.

Super Asymmetric arms, and what that actually buys you

A symmetric lift centres the vehicle between the columns, which is fine until a driver has to open a door. A conventional asymmetric lift rotates the columns and shortens the front arms so the vehicle sits back and the doors clear, which suits cars and gets awkward with a long truck. Super Asymmetric arms let one lift do both: a small car in the asymmetric position with the doors free, a long-wheelbase truck in the symmetric position with the load balanced over the carriages. For a shop that cannot predict what drives in next, that is the difference between one lift and two.

Clear floor, dual cylinders, one release

Nothing crosses the floor between the columns. A transmission jack, a creeper, an oil drain or a rolling toolbox goes wherever it needs to go, and nobody catches a foot on a plate. Lifting is by dual hydraulic cylinders with a high-standard seal set, and the single-point safety release disengages both columns at once, so an operator is never walking round a loaded vehicle to free the far side. The carriages ride on self-lubricating UHMW polyethylene sliders and bronze bushings - the component that quietly decides how a two-post ages.

Before you plan the bay: where this page and AMGO's current specification disagree

AMGO's currently published specification for the OHX-10 disagrees with the sheet we hold on four measurements, and describes the pad set differently again.

  • Maximum lifting height with the extension adapter. The manufacturer publishes a shorter reach than the table above, and publishes it as a range rather than one value. If reach is why you are looking at this lift, settle that figure first.
  • Maximum lock height with the extension adapter. Same direction, and this is the one that counts: lock height is the height the lift actually holds a vehicle at. The manufacturer publishes a lower maximum than ours.
  • Overall width and drive-through clearance. We publish each as a range, as though the base lift adjusts. The manufacturer publishes a single figure for each and treats the wider setting as coming from the separately ordered width kit — so read the ranges above as conditional.
  • The pads. Our data lists a stackable pad set; the manufacturer's current listing for this model describes a different pad and adapter arrangement altogether. We cannot establish from here which set ships, so nothing here claims the pads are included.

Neither side is asserted. Confirm the working height — reach and lock — with us in writing before you plan the bay, and confirm the pad set before you order. A lift that stops short of the height the bay was built around is expensive to discover after the columns are anchored.

Perfect For

  • General repair shops running mixed cars, vans and light trucks through one bay.
  • First lift purchases, where a simpler installation takes real risk out of the job.
  • Bays that double as a walkway - a clear-floor layout is worth more than it looks.
  • Home garages with the ceiling for a full overhead lift.

What is in the crate

  • Two one-piece columns and the overhead beam assembly
  • Super Asymmetric arms
  • Dual hydraulic cylinders with the high-standard seal set
  • Synchronisation cable and self-lubricating sliders and bronze bushings
  • A rubber pad set — our data lists stackable pads at 1.5″, 2.5″ and 5″, while the manufacturer describes a different pad and adapter arrangement for this model. Confirm with us in writing what is in the crate before you order

Ordered separately: the width-adjustable kit, part number 21004. Anchors are specified in the manual; the electrical circuit and the slab work are yours.

Certification, stated plainly

AMGO markets the OHX-10 as CE approved and certified, meeting or exceeding European Standard EN-1493. Take that at exactly its face value. The CE marking is a manufacturer's own declaration of conformity against European directives - it is not the same document as a North American third-party lift safety listing, and it does not replace one. For a home garage and many independent shops that difference never arises. It does arise for some insurance policies, fleet and municipal operations, and jurisdictions whose code names a specific listing. Work out what your insurer or inspector requires before you order.

Shipping and delivery

The OHX-10 ships by freight truck within the lower 48, and the freight is quoted live against your delivery address at checkout rather than estimated in advance. One-piece columns make for a long crate - the flip side of not bolting them together on site - so plan the approach as well as the bay. Unloading is the receiver's responsibility: a forklift with the capacity and reach to take a long crate off a trailer, or a collection booked from the carrier's local terminal. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, added at checkout.

Inspect before you sign. Sight down each column for bends, check the beam and crate ends for crush damage, look for missing banding and any oil trace, then write what you find on the bill of lading with the driver present and photograph it. A clean signature is the carrier's evidence that everything arrived undamaged.

Warranty

AMGO covers this lift with five years on steel components, three years on hydraulic parts and two years on electrical components. Our claims process is set out at mechanicsuperstore.com/pages/warranty-claims.

One rule applies to every hydraulic lift: do not take apart a power unit, a cylinder, a cable assembly or a lock mechanism before a claim is opened. A disassembled component is normally treated as a modified one. Photograph the fault, take the serial number off the column, and call us first.
