AMGO MR06: three separate things have to fail before it drops

Read AMGO's feature list for the MR06 closely and it describes a safety architecture rather than a safety feature. There is a mechanical self-lock, holding the load on steel rather than on oil pressure. There is cable-breaking protection, which acts if the synchronising cable lets go. And the two hydraulic cylinders each carry a flow restrictor, limiting how fast fluid can leave a cylinder if a line or a fitting fails. Three independent mechanisms, each guarding a different failure, none of them dependent on the other two working. That is unusual at this end of the market, and it is the reason to look at this lift.

What they protect is a 6,000 lbs mid-rise scissor lift that runs on 1.0HP at 110V/60Hz single phase, is not anchored into your floor, and can be moved by one person on its power unit stand. Its heights, its lifting time and its weight are set out below — but four of those figures are in dispute, so read Four numbers on this page we are not going to defend before you plan around them.

Free-standing, and what that is actually worth

The MR06 is not bolted down. No anchors, no coring, no slab specification to satisfy beyond a floor that is flat, sound and level — which a free-standing lift still needs, because portability is not permission to use one on a slope.

What that buys is a bay you have not permanently spent: the lift is repositioned by one person on the power unit stand, so it claims floor space only while it is working. That is why it ends up in shops with more jobs than bays, and in home garages where the car still gets parked nightly. Be honest about the limit — it moves within a building easily and between buildings rarely.

Why a flow restrictor is the part worth understanding

Of the three mechanisms, the flow restrictor is the one least often explained. A hydraulic cylinder holds a raised load because fluid cannot leave it; if a hose bursts, that fluid suddenly has somewhere to go, and without a restriction the cylinder empties as fast as the hose allows. The restrictor sits at the cylinder and limits that rate, so a burst line becomes a controlled descent rather than a sudden one — and one on each cylinder means neither side runs away independently.

It is also why the mechanical self-lock is not redundant with it. The restrictor governs how fast the lift can come down in a hydraulic failure; the lock means the lift is not relying on hydraulics to hold height at all. Set the lift onto its lock before anything goes near the underside.

Will It Fit?

A mid-rise portable takes most of the hard questions off the table: no column height, no overhead structure, no ceiling calculation, and because it is not anchored, no concrete specification to satisfy. Floor area, working height and a socket are what remain, and confirming all three is the buyer's responsibility.

• Floor footprint. Overall length 74 1/4 inches (1885 mm), with a swing width of 66 1/4 inches (1684 mm). The swing figure is the one to plan the bay around, because it is the space the lift needs through its full range rather than at rest.
• Platform. 39 3/8 inches (1000 mm) wide.
• Working height. This page lists a lifting height of 42 1/8 inches (1070 mm), and that figure is disputed — see below. Whatever the exact number, this band is wheels-off, seated-or-stooped work: brakes, tyres, sills, exhausts. A mid-rise is not a lift you stand under.
• Getting under a low car. The minimum height listed on this page is 4 1/8 inches (105 mm). It is also disputed, and it is the figure that decides whether the lift slides under your car at all — read the disclosure below before you order.
• Power. 110V/60Hz single phase, and only that. Unlike some of its stablemates there is no higher-voltage motor option on this model, which is a simplification rather than a limitation for most buyers.
• Ceiling. Whatever you have. The lift adds no structure above the vehicle.

Four numbers on this page we are not going to defend

This listing, the specification sheet stored behind it and the manufacturer's current published specification do not agree with one another. We would rather set that out than print whichever number reads best.

• Lifting time. Three figures exist for one measurement: the description on this page says 26 seconds, our own stored specification sheet says 68 seconds, and the manufacturer's current published figure is a third value matching neither. We are not choosing one.
• Minimum height. This page lists 4 1/8 inches (105 mm). The manufacturer publishes a higher minimum — in other words the lift may not get as low as our figure claims. That is the whole reason someone buys a mid-rise for a low car, so if your car sits anywhere near that limit, ask us to confirm the lowered height with the manufacturer in writing before you order.
• Maximum lifting height. This page lists 42 1/8 inches (1070 mm) throughout; the manufacturer publishes a slightly greater height.
• Gross weight. This page lists 919 lbs (417 kg); the manufacturer publishes a heavier figure. It matters for who unloads it and on what, so treat ours as approximate until we have confirmed it.

None of this is a reason to avoid the MR06. It is a reason to ask us first if one of those four figures is what your decision turns on.

• Shops out of bays before they are out of work, where a lift that can be pushed aside beats a fixed one.

Anything else is a separate item, so ask us before ordering rather than assuming it is in the crate.

Certification, stated plainly

Our record for this product does not state a third-party safety listing of any kind. That is missing information rather than a statement by the manufacturer either way, and saying so is more useful than an implication. The question rarely arises in a private garage. It does arise for some commercial insurance policies, for fleet and municipal operations, and for jurisdictions whose code names a listing — if that is you, ask us before ordering and we will put it to the manufacturer in writing.

Shipping and delivery

This ships by freight truck to the lower 48, quoted live at checkout against your own address, so the figure you see is a current carrier rate rather than a stale estimate. It arrives crated and getting it to the ground is the receiver's job — a forklift, a machine, or a plan and some help. Where none of those exist, collecting from the carrier's local terminal is usually easier. Delivery to a residential address carries a residential fee, applied at checkout.

Inspect before you sign: crushed corners, bent steel, shifted banding, any trace of oil. Write what you find on the bill of lading while the driver is there, and photograph it — a clean signature is the carrier's evidence that the load arrived undamaged.

Warranty

AMGO publishes a written warranty covering this product and we hold the document rather than a summary — ask us for the current copy if the terms matter to your decision. One warning applies to every hydraulic lift whoever built it: if something fails, do not open the power unit, a cylinder or a lock mechanism before a claim is raised. A disassembled component is treated as a modified one, and that is the quickest way to lose cover. Photograph the fault, note the serial number, and call us first.
