Description
-Atlas WBT-210: one balancer that switches between a car rim and a semi tire
Most shops that service both cars and trucks end up owning two balancers, because the machines are tuned for different jobs. A passenger-car balancer resolves to a gram and spins fast; a truck balancer has to swing a mass that would bend it. The WBT-210 answers that by carrying two modes in one machine. In car and light-truck mode it spins at 150 RPM and reads to 1 gram. In truck mode it drops to 90 RPM and reads to 10 gram, which is the correct resolution for the mass involved and the reason the machine does not chase noise it cannot correct.
The practical span that gives you is wide. A 14 inch steel rim off a passenger car sits on the same shaft as a 300 pound semi-truck tire, and the oversized 32 inch custom wheels and heavily-lugged off-road tires that fall between them are handled too. Maximum wheel weight is 440 lbs and maximum tire diameter is 47″.
What your shop needs before it arrives
This is the one machine in the balancer range with real service requirements, and both of them want checking now. Confirming your own power and air is the buyer’s responsibility.
- Power. 220volt, single phase, tolerant of +/- 5% — that is 209-231 volts — with a 30 amp breaker required. This is not a machine you plug into a wall socket, so get an electrician’s answer before the freight moves rather than after.
- Air. The pneumatic wheel lift needs an external air supply at 115-140 PSI, and that supply is not included. Without it you have a balancer you cannot load, so treat the compressor as part of the purchase rather than an accessory.
- Floor and space. Allow clearance to roll a truck tire up to the machine and to swing it onto the shaft. The working area matters more here than the machine’s own footprint.
- Unloading. 725 lbs. A forklift, a dock, or warehouse pickup.
Why the pneumatic wheel lift is not an optional extra
The specification that stops this machine being theoretical is the wheel lift. A 300 pound tire and rim assembly cannot be lifted onto a balancer shaft by hand, and the shops that try are the shops with back injuries. The integrated pneumatic lift raises the assembly to the shaft and holds it there while it is secured, which is what makes a one-person truck balance a routine job rather than a two-person production with a floor jack and improvisation.
It is also why the air requirement above is stated as bluntly as it is. The lift is how the machine is loaded, so shop air is a prerequisite rather than a convenience.
Built to be fixed in your own shop
This is the part of the WBT-210 that does not show up in a spec comparison and matters most over a decade of ownership. The electrical components are effectively plug and play, so a failed part is swapped rather than diagnosed at component level. The machine is self-diagnosing and self-calibrating, and it displays error codes rather than simply refusing to work — meaning the person standing in front of it can read what is wrong and act on it. Replacement parts and wear items are held in stock.
Put those together and you get a machine that a shop foreman can return to service in an afternoon. For a fleet or truck operation, downtime on the balancer stops tires going back on vehicles, and waiting several days for a service technician to attend is not a neutral cost. Buying equipment you can maintain yourself is a different decision from buying equipment with the highest specification, and for a working truck shop it is usually the better one.
Mounting: one shaft, two families of wheel
The heavy-duty shaft is 40mm and accepts the standard mounting cones for cars and pickups, which are included. For the heavy side, a cone and spacer set for truck, bus and implement tires is supplied, along with several large truck adapters that cover most BUDD-style wheels. A plastic quick-release nut handles fast changes on light work and a heavy-duty steel wing nut takes the loads that would strip it.
Beyond mounting, the machine offers static and dynamic balancing modes, rapid optimisation, weight positioning to a resolution of 1.4 degrees, readouts in grams or ounces and in millimetres or inches, and automatic start and stop as the hood is lowered and raised. It handles rims from 10″ to 32″ and rim widths from 1 1/2″ to 20″, driven by a 1/3 HP motor.
One thing to be aware of when you plan the workflow: all dimensions are entered manually. You measure the rim with the supplied caliper and key the figures in. That is normal for a heavy-duty machine of this type and it is perfectly accurate when done carefully — but a mis-keyed rim width produces a confidently wrong answer, so it is worth being deliberate about it rather than fast.
Perfect For
- Trucking companies running mixed fleets — passenger cars, light trucks and over-the-road tractor units on one machine.
- Commercial tire shops serving both car and truck customers without dedicating floor space to two balancers.
- Farm and implement operations, which the truck cone and spacer set is explicitly sized for.
- Off-road and custom-wheel specialists handling oversized tires that a passenger-car balancer cannot take.
What’s in the Box

Certification, stated honestly
The product data we hold for this balancer does not carry an independent North American safety listing, and we would rather say so than let it be assumed either way. For most shops it is not a factor. It becomes one where an insurer, a fleet or municipal supply contract, or a local inspection regime specifically requires equipment carrying a recognised third-party listing — and commercial trucking operations are more likely than most to be subject to something of that kind. If that is you, get the requirement in writing from whoever is imposing it and speak to us before you order.
Shipping and Delivery
The WBT-210 ships as freight within the lower 48 states. At 725 lbs it comes off the truck with a forklift or at a loading dock, or you can collect it from a warehouse instead — locations are listed further down this page. Residential delivery can be arranged and carries a fee, which is quoted live at checkout rather than printed here because carrier pricing moves.
Check the machine before you sign. Count the shipment against the paperwork, look for punctures, crush damage and banding that has shifted, and write anything you find onto the bill of lading while the driver is present. Signing a clean receipt is the carrier’s evidence that everything arrived intact, and a claim raised afterwards is a much harder argument to win.
Warranty
The WBT-210 carries a 1 year parts-only warranty. Parts only means a covered component is supplied and the labour to fit it is not included — which, on a machine designed around swapping its own parts, is less of a constraint than it usually is.
If something fails, contact us before you disassemble it. A partly stripped machine is very hard to assess and taking it apart first is one of the most common ways a valid claim is lost. Photograph the fault, leave it as it is, and get in touch.
