BendPak HDS-14LSX package: one bay that does alignment and everything else

Most shops that buy an alignment rack already own a service lift, and the alignment rack then sits idle between alignments. The HDS-14LSX is built to avoid that. It is a 14,000 lb four-post lift with the alignment hardware built into the runways rather than laid on top of them, and this package adds rolling bridge jacks rated at 7,000 lbs and the airline kit that supplies them — so the same rack does wheel, brake and suspension work between alignments instead of waiting for the next one.

One bay, two jobs

The economics are simpler than the engineering. A bay is a fixed cost: rent, light, heat, and the technician standing in it. A machine that only earns money during alignments has to justify itself on alignment volume alone, and for most independent shops the volume is not there. Give the same rack rolling jacks and it earns during brake jobs, tyre changes, hub and bearing work, and suspension replacement — and, usefully, the alignment that so often follows a suspension job happens without moving the vehicle at all.

That last point is worth spelling out. Replace a control arm or a set of struts on one lift, and the alignment is a second setup on a second machine. Do both here, and the vehicle is loaded once.

Plates built into the runway, not placed on it

Slip plates and turn plates are integrated into the runways. The alternative — plates you set down on a flat runway for each job — works, but it has to be positioned for every wheelbase, it shifts under load, and it leaves something proud of the surface that a technician stands on and a jack has to be worked around. Integrated plates sit flush and stay where the rack puts them.

What they do is let the wheel move. Toe and camber adjustment loads the suspension, and if the contact patch cannot slide as that happens, the suspension stays wound up and the readings describe a condition the vehicle will never actually settle into. Free-floating plates let the load release itself, so what you measure is what the car does on the road.

What the jacks finish

The rolling bridge jacks bridge the two runways and take the wheels off them, rated at 7,000 lbs, with multiple safety-lock positions and stackable pad adapters for higher pick-up points. Those pad adapters are the practical detail: without them a vehicle with a high sill or an awkward jacking point either does not get lifted or gets lifted somewhere it should not be.

Because the jacks roll along the runways, one pair of jacks serves either axle, which is what turns a fixed alignment rack into a general four-post service lift. The AK-14 airline kit completes it by securing the jacks' air supply to the underside of the runways, so a moving jack takes its line with it and nothing is draped across the floor of the bay.

Perfect for

  • Independent shops with limited bays that need one machine to cover alignment and general service.
  • Tyre and brake businesses adding alignment without adding a bay.
  • Suspension and performance shops, where the alignment is the last step of the job that was just done.
  • Dealership and fleet workshops standardising on one lift type across bays.
  • Large private workshops with the ceiling, floor and space for full-size commercial equipment.

What this listing says is included

  • The HDS-14LSX alignment lift, with turn plates and slip plates integrated into the runways.
  • Rolling bridge jack capability rated at 7,000 lbs, with multiple safety-lock positions and stackable pad adapters.
  • The AK-14 integrated rolling bridge airline kit, mounted beneath the runways.

On the quantity of jacks, this listing's own copy and its current search description do not agree with each other — the search description sets out the package as one lift, two bridge jacks and one airline kit, while the product copy names the jack without ever giving a count. Neither is treated here as settled; confirm the count on your order.

Package at a glance

Configuration Four-post lift and alignment rack in one
Turn plates Integrated into the runways
Slip plates Integrated into the runways
Rolling bridge jack capacity 7,000 lbs

Two things to confirm in writing

The jack part number. The listing title designates the jack RBJ7000; the manufacturer's package copy on this same page uses a different designation for it. Jacks are matched to a lift series and its runway spacing, so this is not a labelling quibble. Ask us to confirm the exact part number against your order.

The jack count. As above — the two descriptions on this page do not agree, so have it stated on the order.

Fit: the figures are in the manual, and checking is on you

A four-post rack of this class bolts to a flat, sound concrete slab. The footprint, runway length, drive-through clearance, rise and the slab thickness and strength required for anchoring are published in BendPak's installation and operation manual and on the specification sheet for this model. We hold both and will send them before you order. Confirming that your building actually takes the equipment — slab, ceiling height at full rise with a vehicle on board, door swing and available power — is the buyer's responsibility, and paper is a much cheaper place to discover a problem than a loading dock.

Certification, stated plainly

No certification claim is made on this listing and we are not going to manufacture one. For a private workshop or a typical independent shop this rarely comes up at all. It comes up sharply for some insurers, some fleet and municipal operators, some franchise programmes and some local jurisdictions, all of which may require a specific third-party lift-safety listing before equipment can be put into service. Those requirements are written around a document, not a brand name. If one applies to you, ask us in writing which conformity paperwork ships with this model and we will obtain it from the manufacturer before you order.

Shipping and delivery

This is freight, to the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout against your own address rather than estimated. It comes crated on a standard trailer and the receiver unloads: a forklift with the capacity and reach for a crated four-post rack, or a terminal collection, which many buyers find easier because the carrier's terminal is already set up for it. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, applied at checkout when selected.

Inspect on arrival, before signing. Crushed corners, bent or scraped steel, banding out of place, oil where there should not be any — write it on the bill of lading with the driver present and photograph it. Once the paperwork is signed clean, the carrier's position is that nothing was wrong.

Warranty

There is a written BendPak warranty document covering this product and we hold the current copy; ask for it before ordering if the detail matters. The universal caution for hydraulic lifts of any make: if something fails, raise the claim before anything is taken apart. Opening a power unit, cylinder, cable assembly or lock first is normally treated as modification, and cover generally does not survive it. Photograph the fault, record the serial number from the column, and call us before you touch it.
