-Katool KT-AV6: no cabinet, so the aligner does not cost you a bay
Buried in this machine's own feature list is the line that should be leading it: no cabinet design. Most shop aligners arrive as a rolling console, a screen mast and a printer stand, and that console then occupies a permanent piece of floor next to a lift for the rest of its working life. The KT-AV6 does away with it. The system is a camera beam and a tablet, with a 30 inch display where you choose to put one, and that is the difference between an aligner your shop makes room for and an aligner that simply lives on the lift you already own.
Underneath that, it is a full 3D aligner: two cameras, no calibration required at installation, toe, camber, caster and thrust angle, and a database covering American, European and Asian models with the yearly upgrade included. It is designed to be moved between bays rather than committed to one, and it works with both 2-post and scissor lifts.
Will It Fit?
There is no ceiling requirement and no concrete requirement here. What matters is the supply, the route in, and the lift you intend to use it on. All of it is the buyer's to confirm before ordering.
- Power. 100-240V at 50/60 Hz, single phase. A wide input window, which for most shops means an ordinary circuit rather than an electrician's quote.
- Floor, and this is the point of the machine. With no cabinet there is nothing to site permanently. Plan for the beam, the tablet and wherever you decide to mount or stand the display, and keep the rest of the bay for work.
- Getting it in. Two crates. The main crate's longest listed dimension is 36.22 inches (920 mm), which is a genuinely compact box for an alignment system. The camera beam ships separately in a long, slim crate 15.75 inches square in section (400 mm); that is the one to check against corridors and tight corners.
- Weight. Katool lists the machine at 200 kg and the shipping weight at 240 kg.
- The lift. This is a lift-mounted system. Turn plates and slip plates are installed on your lift to the machine's specification, and a lift that has never done alignment work may need equipping first. Ask before you order rather than after.
Mobility is only real if calibration does not follow it around
Plenty of equipment is described as portable. What decides whether it actually gets moved is what has to happen after it arrives in the new bay. An alignment system that needs recalibrating every time it is repositioned is a system that gets repositioned once, on the day it is installed, and then never again.
The KT-AV6 requires no calibration during installation, and that property is what makes the compact frame and the wheels mean something. A shop with two or three lifts can genuinely run alignment on whichever bay is free instead of queuing vehicles for the alignment bay. That is a throughput argument rather than a feature, and it is worth more to most shops than any single measurement specification.
The camera post moves by remote, so beam height follows the lift without the technician walking back to reset it, and readings can be watched live on a phone or tablet during an adjustment. On a rear wheel adjustment in particular, being able to see the number change while your hands are still on the vehicle is the difference between two attempts and four.
The report is the part the customer sees
Everything an aligner does happens out of sight of the person paying for it. The KT-AV6 produces detailed records for every job, before-and-after measurements and the adjustments made, which can be saved digitally or printed and handed over. This is the least technical section on this page and possibly the most commercially useful one: an alignment invoice with a printed sheet attached is an invoice that gets queried less, and a customer who can see that the caster was out is a customer who comes back for the next one.
The same information can be shown live on the customer's own phone during the service if you want it to be. Whether that suits your counter is a matter of taste, but the option exists and very little equipment at this price offers it.
The database and the platform
Unlimited memory for vehicle specifications, a database that keeps up with current American, European and Asian models, and a yearly upgrade at no additional cost. That last point is worth checking against anything you compare this with, because an annual data subscription is a recurring cost that never appears on a price tag. The software runs on Android and iOS rather than a closed platform, which keeps updates ordinary and makes a replacement tablet something you can buy locally.
Perfect For
- Shops short on floor space, where a permanent alignment console is the reason alignment has not been added yet.
- Multi-bay workshops that want to run alignment wherever a lift happens to be free.
- Tire retailers converting the alignment check they already recommend into work they can do themselves.
- Fleet operations where a printed record per vehicle per service is part of the paperwork anyway.
What is in the Box
Katool's feature list names the package: the mobile 3D aligner with its two-camera measurement system and remote-moved post, a tablet, a 30 inch display screen, a mouse and keypad, a printer, a wifi device and a USB drive. There is deliberately no cabinet. Turn plates, slip plates and any lift preparation are not described as included, so if the lift you are pairing this with has never done alignment work, ask us what else you need before ordering.

Certification, stated plainly
Nothing in the material we hold claims an independent third-party listing from a recognised testing body for this system, and we are not going to imply one with a badge. On measuring equipment this question arises less often than on lifting equipment, but it does arise: some insurance policies, some fleet and municipal service contracts and some jurisdictions name equipment approvals specifically, and a manufacturer's own declaration of conformity is a different document from an independent listing. If that is your situation, get the requirement in writing from whoever is imposing it, then ask us for the documentation that actually ships with this machine and we will send what exists.
Shipping and delivery
The KT-AV6 ships by freight truck to addresses in the lower 48 states, in two crates, with freight quoted live at checkout against your address rather than estimated in advance. Unloading is the receiver's job. Neither crate is enormously heavy, but the beam crate is long and unforgiving of a tight turn, so walk the route from your delivery point to the bay before the truck is booked. Collecting from the carrier's local terminal is often simpler, and the terminal already has the equipment. Delivery to a residential address carries a residential fee, applied at checkout when you select that option.
Inspect both crates before you sign. Optical equipment hides impact damage well, so look hard at corners, banding and any sign the crate has been dropped, write what you find on the bill of lading while the driver is still present, and photograph it. A clean signature is the carrier's evidence that everything arrived intact, and it is difficult to unwind afterwards.
Warranty
The KT-AV6 carries a one-year limited warranty, and Katool publishes the full warranty document separately; ask us for the current copy before ordering if the exact terms bear on your decision. One warning applies to any optical measurement system: if a camera or the beam is damaged, or the readings drift, do not open a camera housing or try to re-seat an optic before a claim is raised. A disassembled instrument is normally treated as a modified one and coverage that would have been honoured is lost. Photograph the fault, record the serial number, and call first.
