Triumph USA8000XLT: the lift's spec sheet gives two widths, and the bigger one is the one your bay has to clear

Start with the number that catches people out. The USA8000XLT is listed at 112 inches wide — and at 124 inches wide with the power unit. The power unit is not an accessory you can leave in a box; it is part of the installed machine. Plan a bay around the first figure and you will be moving a tool chest permanently. Plan around 124 inches, plus room to open a car door, and the lift works the way it is supposed to.

That aside, the USA8000XLT is the long-and-tall version of Triumph's 8,000 lb four-post: 90 inches of overall height, 222 inches of overall length with the approach ramps fitted (190 inches without them), and 83 inches of lift height at the top of the runway. It is built for both jobs a four-post does — service access and stacked storage — and it is a portable design rather than a bolted-down one.

Current offer: a free Chicago Pneumatic CP WallAIR 1.5 HP wall-mount air compressor with hose reel and inflation kit is included with this lift while supplies last. The option to add the compressor appears at checkout.

Will It Fit?

Every one of these is the buyer's measurement to take. We cannot see your building, and a lift that does not fit is the most expensive mistake in this category.

  • Ceiling. The lift stands 90 inches tall. What actually decides your roof, though, is the height of the vehicle you intend to raise plus the 83 inches of lift height — measure that combination, not the lift alone.
  • Length. 222 inches overall with the approach ramps, 190 inches without them. If the bay is tight at one end, know which of those two numbers you are working to and where the ramps will sit.
  • Width. 112 inches for the lift, 124 inches once the power unit is accounted for, with 102.5 inches of drive-through clearance between the carriages. The drive-through figure is the hard limit on how wide a vehicle can be driven straight on.
  • The runways. Each runway is 19 inches wide with 37 inches between them, and they are 180 inches long. That spacing is what determines whether a narrow-track classic or a wide-track truck sits properly on the tracks.
  • Getting a car on. Lowered height is 5 inches. A low front splitter is the thing to check, and it is easier to check now than on the day.
  • Floor and power. The power unit runs on 110 volts. The lift itself ships as a 1,800 lb crate. Follow the manufacturer's own floor requirements from the manual — this listing does not state a concrete specification and we are not going to guess one for you.

79 inches under the runway is the storage number

For a lift bought to park two cars in one space, the specification that matters is not the capacity. It is the clear height under the runway, which on this model is 79 inches. That is the space the lower vehicle lives in, and the question to ask is simply whether the roof of the car you want underneath fits inside it — with the door mirrors, the aerial and a hand's width to spare so nobody scrapes a roof reversing out.

Above that, the 83 inch lift height is the working figure: the height the runway itself reaches, which is what governs whether you can stand upright under a vehicle rather than stooping. The extra height and length over the standard model is the whole reason the XLT exists — it is aimed at trucks, SUVs and full-size cars rather than at compacts.

Locks at 14 positions, released from one place

The safety locks engage automatically at 14 different heights as the lift rises, so a raised vehicle rests on steel rather than on hydraulic pressure. That is the part of a four-post that lets a car sit for a month without anybody thinking about it. Release is single point: one control drops all four locks together, instead of walking the lift and freeing each column in turn. Full travel takes about 40 seconds.

The base plates are 12 by 10 inches, and the lift is grey and black as standard.

Portable, and the accessories that make it useful

The caster kit is standard, not extra, and it is what makes this a lift you can reposition rather than a fixture. For a home garage that has to become a garage again at the weekend, or a shop that reorganises its floor twice a year, that matters more than most spec-sheet features. The jack tray takes a bottle or floor jack so one end of the vehicle can be lifted off the runways for wheel and brake work. Three drip trays sit under the upper vehicle so oil and coolant land on steel instead of on the roof of the car below — the single most common complaint about stacked storage, solved with sheet metal.

Triumph's four-post design has been in the field for more than 20 years, which is the claim the manufacturer makes for it and a reasonable one to weigh alongside the specification.

Perfect For

  • Home garages doubling their parking, where the 79 inch clear height decides which car goes underneath.
  • Collectors storing vehicles long term on mechanical locks rather than on jack stands.
  • Professional shops wanting drive-on service access for trucks and SUVs without a two-post's arm set-up on every job.
  • Anyone without three-phase power — the power unit is 110 volt.

What's in the Box

  • Four-post lift structure with runways and approach ramps
  • Caster kit for repositioning
  • Jack tray
  • Three drip trays
  • 110 volt power unit
  • Grey and black finish as standard

A rolling bridge jack, extra drip trays and a jack of your own are not part of the crate.

Certification, stated plainly

Our product data for this lift records no third-party safety listing, and we are not going to imply one exists on a page we wrote ourselves. For a private garage that rarely matters. It does matter where an insurer, an employer's policy, a fleet contract or a local jurisdiction requires a named listing before a lift may be used commercially — and the time to establish that is before the crate is on your floor, not after. Ask us and we will request the manufacturer's current documentation in writing.

Shipping and delivery

Freight to the lower 48 states is included with this lift, as the feature list states. What is not included is unloading: the driver brings the crate to your address, and getting 1,800 lbs off the trailer is the receiver's responsibility. A forklift, a machine with a suitable capacity, or a collection from the carrier's local terminal all work — the terminal option is often the easiest for a home buyer, because the terminal already has the equipment. Delivery to a residential address carries a residential fee, applied at checkout when you choose that option.

Inspect the crate before you sign anything. Look for bent uprights, crushed corners, torn packaging and shifted banding, and write what you find on the bill of lading while the driver is still there. Photograph it from several angles. A clean signature is the carrier's evidence that the shipment arrived undamaged.

Warranty

Triumph's warranty terms are handled through our warranty claims page; ask us for the current document before ordering if the terms will affect your decision. One warning applies to every hydraulic lift regardless of manufacturer: if something fails, do not take the power unit, a cylinder or a lock mechanism apart before a claim is open. A disassembled component is normally treated as a modified one, and that is the quickest way to lose cover that would otherwise have been honoured. Photograph the fault, note the serial number, and call first.
