One lift for a lowered coupe and a long-bed pickup

Most two-post lifts do one end of that range well. A triple-stage arm gets there by telescoping in three sections instead of two, so it retracts shorter and extends longer than a two-stage arm of the same design. If your bay sees a genuine mix of vehicles — and most general service bays do — that span is what stops the lift becoming the reason you turn a job away.

The reason this lift exists: 110" of column

An overhead two-post lift ties its columns together with a beam across the top, which is why those lifts want somewhere near twelve feet of clear ceiling. This one puts the connection on the floor instead, in a steel baseplate running between the columns, and the columns stand 110" tall as a result.

That is the entire argument for a floor-plate design, and it is a decisive one in a converted garage, a unit with a low roof deck, a basement bay or anywhere with ducting and lighting eating into the headroom. If an overhead lift will not physically stand up in your building, this layout is not a compromise — it is the only one of the two that fits.

What you accept in exchange is the baseplate. It is a low, wide steel ramp on the floor between the columns, and you will roll a jack over it, sweep around it and occasionally trip a hose on it. The space above the vehicle stays completely open, which is what most shops actually want the clearance for.

Will it fit?

Ceiling: 110" of column, measured to your lowest obstruction rather than to the roof.

Width: 140" overall, 110" between the inside faces of the columns, with a drive-through width of 98.50" — the figure that decides whether a wide truck or van drives through cleanly. The feature list on this page rounds that to nearly 99", which is the same measurement described loosely rather than a second, different one.

Rise: 81" of maximum rise, which sets how much room you actually have to stand and work under a raised vehicle.

Floor: a two-post lift puts its entire load into the slab through the anchors. The concrete must meet the manufacturer's specified thickness and compressive strength, be level, and be sound where every anchor lands — no cracks, no expansion joints, no patched sections. Verifying the slab and anchoring the lift correctly are the buyer's responsibility. If the slab's specification is unknown, have it assessed before delivery. A lift that arrives before the floor is confirmed is a lift that sits on a pallet for a month.

A figure on this page we cannot reconcile

Our records disagree on the maximum lifting height. Our specification table records 70" at the top of the pad. The description text on this page states seventy-five inches. Those are different measurements of the same thing and we are not going to split the difference or pick the flattering one.

If working height under the vehicle is what decides this purchase — for exhaust, driveline and suspension work it usually is — ask us to confirm the figure against the manufacturer's sheet before you order. Separately, and more minor: our specification table shows 110" for both the overall height and the inside width. Those may genuinely be the same number, but if either is decisive for your bay, have us confirm it rather than assume.

Chain-over, and why it is still here

The lifting mechanism is a chain-over arrangement: high-tensile chain routed over sheaves at the top of each column, driven by the hydraulic cylinders. It is old technology in the sense that it has been in service for decades, and that is the point — there are fewer moving parts than in a cable system, the chain is easy to inspect visually, and stretch develops slowly and predictably rather than as a sudden failure.

Equalisation is what the arrangement is really doing. Both carriages have to rise together, and the chain over the top is what forces that even when the load on the two columns is unequal, which it always is once a vehicle's weight distribution is involved.

Single-point lock release

Mechanical safety locks engage automatically as the carriages rise and hold the load in steel, independent of hydraulic pressure — the protection that matters if a hose or a seal ever fails. Releasing them on many lifts means a hand on each column, which is a nuisance twenty times a day and, worse, a moment where a technician walks away from a partly released lift.

This one releases both columns from a single point in one motion. It is a small mechanism with a disproportionate effect on how the bay actually runs.

Maintenance that keeps it safe

A two-post lift is a machine, not a fixture. Inspect the chains for stretch, wear and correct tension on a schedule; check the hydraulic fittings and hoses for weeping; test that every lock engages and releases cleanly; and look at the telescoping arm joints for wear, play or bending, since a bent arm is a lift that no longer holds the vehicle where you think it does. Grease the pivot points. None of this is difficult and all of it is the difference between a lift that lasts and a lift that becomes a hazard quietly.

Certification, stated plainly

Our product data for the SP-10FP does not record a third-party lift safety certification, and we will not name one here. That is a statement about our data, not a judgement about the lift. It matters because the requirement is real for some buyers: certain insurers ask for a specific listing, many fleet and municipal procurement policies require one, and some local jurisdictions require it for a commercial installation to pass inspection. Shipping, delivery and installation

Freight only, to the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout for your real delivery address rather than estimated on this page. Shipping weight is 1,230 lb, arriving as two long columns and a pallet of arms, hardware and the power unit. You must be able to unload it — a forklift with the capacity and reach for a full-length column, a loading dock, or collection from the carrier's terminal, which is frequently the simplest option. Delivery to a residential address carries a residential fee, shown at checkout before you pay.

Inspect the shipment before you sign for it. Bent column edges, damaged carriages, crushed cartons, cut banding, missing pallets — write all of it on the delivery receipt at the time of delivery and photograph it while the driver is still on site. A clean signature makes a freight damage claim extremely hard to pursue afterwards.

Installation is a professional job: anchor, plumb, level, set the arm and lock alignment, and load-test before the lift takes a customer's vehicle.

Warranty
