Katool KT-H115Z: an 11,000 lb two-post lift with a load test on the page

Almost every lift sheet in this category says the structure was "tested". The KT-H115Z sheet says how far: 115% dynamic loading and 150% static loading. Dynamic means loaded and moving, static means loaded and parked, and putting a percentage next to each is a claim that can be checked against the manufacturer's own test report rather than admired. That is the reason to look at this lift, and it is a great deal more informative than a capacity figure on its own.

The capacity figure is 11,000 lbs (5,000 kg), which sits between the usual car-lift rating and a heavy truck lift. It is a base-plate design, so nothing crosses the bay overhead; each column carries its own hydraulic chain-drive cylinder; the manual safety release is duplicated on both sides; and the power unit is a 4.0 HP single-phase 220V/60 Hz unit. It is a full-time lift for an independent shop, and one of the styles a home garage with a finished ceiling can actually take.

What 115% and 150% mean when you are standing under it

A raised vehicle is held by mechanical locks, not by oil pressure, and the number that matters is what the structure does when it is loaded past its rating. A dynamic overload test loads the lift beyond rated capacity and then moves it, which is when a column, a carriage or a chain sees its worst combination of load and motion. A static test loads it beyond rating and leaves it there, which is what a vehicle sitting overnight in a locked position actually does to the steel. Katool publishes both figures for this model and states that it is CE approved and certified. Read the certification section below for what that marking is and is not, but read the test numbers for what they are: a specific, quotable claim about the structure.

Will It Fit?

Confirm all of these against your own building before you order. We cannot see your bay, and none of it can be fixed after the anchors go down.

• Ceiling. The columns are 110.9 in (2,818 mm) tall. There is no overhead beam on a base-plate lift, so the ceiling only has to clear the columns and the vehicle you put between them. Maximum lifting height is 70.8 in (1,800 mm) at the top of the pad.
• Floor. Overall width is 140.4 in (3,565 mm), with 124.8 in (3,170 mm) across the outside of the columns and 110.2 in (2,800 mm) between their inside faces. Leave working space beyond that on both sides.
• Drive-through. 98.4 in (2,500 mm) between the columns, which is the practical width limit on what you can drive straight in.
• Getting under a low car. The arms drop to 3.9 in (100 mm), so a low-clearance vehicle can be driven over them without ramps.
• Concrete. Every anchored two-post lift depends on the slab under it, and a lift bolted to thin, cracked or jointed concrete is dangerous regardless of how it is built. Katool's requirement for this model is stated in the installation manual, which we can send you before purchase; the thickness and compressive strength of your floor are the customer's responsibility to verify, and "it looks thick enough" is not a verification. Core it or ask whoever poured it.
• Power. 4.0 HP, single phase, 220V at 60 Hz, on its own circuit. Have the electrician booked for before the lift arrives, not after.

A base plate, and the roof you get to keep

The hydraulic and cable crossover runs along the floor inside a low steel plate rather than through a beam spanning the columns. The trade is real and worth stating both ways: you drive over a low plate at the entrance to the bay, and in exchange nothing above the vehicle limits how tall a van, truck or roof-racked wagon you can raise, and nothing has to clear a sectional door track, a sprinkler line or a low header. For most buildings that trade is the whole reason to choose this style.

Release from either side, and doors that survive

The locks engage as the carriages climb. Lowering means releasing them, and on the KT-H115Z the manual release is available from both sides, so whichever column you are standing at is the one you use. Rubber door-opening protection on the columns means a door swung open at working height meets rubber rather than paint, which is the small detail that stops a lift paying for itself in bodywork.

Arms, pads and adaptors

Arm reach decides whether a vehicle can be picked up where its manufacturer says to pick it up, and it constrains more jobs than capacity does. The symmetric arms extend from 29.5 in to 46 in (750 mm to 1,170 mm) at the front and 35.4 in to 58.2 in (900 mm to 1,480 mm) at the rear, in stages. Pads screw on, and the extension support adaptor set adds 100 mm of pad height for vehicles with deep rockers or high pinch welds.

Specifications

Certification, stated plainly

Katool describes this lift as CE approved and certified, tested to the loading figures above. Take that at exactly its face value. CE is a European conformity marking, and a conformity marking rests on the manufacturer's own declaration against a set of directives. It is not the same document as a North American third-party lift safety listing, and it is not a substitute for one. That distinction is invisible to most private buyers and decisive for a few: certain commercial insurance policies, certain fleet and municipal operations, and certain local jurisdictions require the third-party listing by name. Confirm what your insurer, your inspector or your employer actually asks for before you order.

Shipping and delivery

The KT-H115Z travels as freight to the lower 48. The rate you see at checkout is fetched from the carrier for your address at that moment, which is why we do not print a shipping figure on the page. Plan the unload before the truck is booked: freight arrives on a standard trailer, and moving the crate from the deck to your floor is the receiver's responsibility. A forklift makes it a five-minute job. Without one, take terminal pickup, where the carrier's own equipment does the lifting and you collect at your convenience. If the delivery address is residential, a residential fee applies and is shown at checkout.

Damage claims are decided by what you wrote on the paperwork. Inspect the crate with the driver present, note torn wrap, dented corners, broken banding or any sign the load shifted, and record it on the bill of lading before you sign. Photographs taken at the tailgate are worth more than any conversation a week later.

Warranty

Katool issues a written warranty document covering this equipment, and we will send you the current version on request before you buy if the detail matters to your decision. Whatever the terms say, one rule protects them: do not dismantle a power unit, cylinder, lock or hose assembly before a claim has been opened. A part that has been taken apart is treated as a modified part, which turns a straightforward warranty replacement into an argument. Photograph the fault, take the serial number off the column and call us first.
