iDEAL MSC-18K-X-6108 Mobile Column Lift - Set of Six

Six columns can stand up to 32'8" apart. That single figure is what separates this set from every in-ground and two-post lift in a heavy-duty shop: the MSC-18K-X-6108 does not ask the vehicle to fit the lift, it walks the lift out to the vehicle and sets it up around whatever is parked there. A transit bus, a fire apparatus, an articulated chassis or a tandem-axle truck gets picked up by its wheels at six points, on a floor with nothing cut into it.

Total rated capacity is 108,000 lbs across the set, and every column runs on 24VDC battery power with onboard charging, so there is no cable to route across a bay and nothing to anchor. When the job is done the columns roll into a corner and the bay goes back to being floor space.

Wiring that gets out of the driver's way

The columns are linked by communication cable on retractable reels in a U-shape configuration. That layout is not cosmetic. A ring or a straight run of cable puts a trip line across the open end of the set — precisely where a driver has to pull a long vehicle in and, more awkwardly, back it out. The U leaves that end clear. On a six-column set spread most of the way to 32'8", the difference between a clear entry and a cable across it is measured in minutes on every single job.

Control is available from any column — on a set this size, walking back to one master position for every adjustment stops being tolerable by the third repetition of the day.

Synchronisation, and what happens when it is not perfect

A PLC with an optical encoder keeps all six columns continuously synchronised. Continuous is the important word: the controller is not setting them going and hoping, it is measuring position and correcting as the lift moves. Six independent hydraulic columns carrying one rigid vehicle will always drift apart slightly — different loads on different corners, different oil temperatures — and the correction is what keeps the chassis level rather than progressively racking.

Under that sits an independent mechanical locking system, one per column. The mechanical lock is what actually holds the vehicle at height; hydraulics hold it while it is moving. Each column also carries its own emergency switch, so whoever spots a problem stops the set from wherever they are standing, without a walk to a central panel.

An LCD screen with a keypad on the master control panel shows settings and lifting height as a number rather than a guess, and columns can be run individually or in synchronised pairs — which is how you lift one axle of a long vehicle without lifting all of it.

Will It Fit?

  • Ceiling. Each column stands 88.6" at its lowest and 155.5" fully extended. Your clear ceiling height has to accommodate the extended column plus the vehicle on top of it — measure to the lowest obstruction over the working area, not to the roof deck.
  • Lifting height. 67.1" at the forks, which is the working height under the vehicle.
  • Floor. Minimum concrete surface strength is 3000 PSI. Nothing is anchored and nothing is cut, but the columns concentrate load through their bases and a poor slab is still a poor slab.
  • Column footprint. 44.1" overall width per column, and up to 32'8" between the outermost columns.
  • Wheels. Fork adjustable range is 12.6" to 22", fork length is 17.9", and fork-to-column clearance is 10". Check your fleet's actual tyre diameters against that range before you commit.
  • Power. 100-140VAC, 60Hz, 1 PH input per column for charging; 24VDC output drives the lift. That is an ordinary single-phase supply, not a three-phase installation.
  • Indoors. The manufacturer specifies indoor set-up and operation.

Confirming the ceiling, the slab and the wheel diameters against your own building is the buyer's responsibility. We would rather answer those questions before an order than after six crates arrive.

Quiet enough to talk over

Rated noise level is 70 dB(A). There is no hydraulic power unit running continuously in the corner — the pump works only while the lift is moving. In a bay where technicians are calling to each other under a raised vehicle, that is a working-conditions difference rather than a specification-sheet one.

Perfect For

  • Transit and municipal fleets lifting buses and long-wheelbase vehicles that no single lift covers.
  • Fire and emergency apparatus shops, where the vehicle cannot be modified to suit the equipment.
  • Heavy truck dealerships running mixed chassis lengths through the same bays.
  • Leased or shared buildings where cutting the floor for an in-ground lift is not an option and never will be.
  • Shops that need the bay back — the columns store out of the way and the floor returns to full use.

What's in the Box, and what is not

The set comprises six columns with their onboard charging systems, the communication cabling on retractable reels, the master control panel with its LCD and keypad, the adjustable lifting forks, and an LED light with a magnetic base. Columns are repositioned with a pallet-jack type device and run on poly caster wheels.

Batteries are not included. The specification calls for 12VDC sealed deep cycle batteries, BCI Group 31, AH-105. Our data does not state how many each column takes — and on a six-column set that is not a small gap, because the answer decides both your commissioning cost and your delivery-day plan. Ask us in writing for the quantity per column before you order.

Certification, described rather than badged

One certification reference appears in this product's own data, and it is worth reading precisely: it attaches to optional MSC accessories, which are described as ALI certified and are sold separately. It is not a statement about the certification status of the columns themselves, and we are not going to present it as one.

That distinction matters commercially. Some insurers, fleet safety policies and local jurisdictions require lifting equipment to carry a North American third-party safety listing — a listing issued by an independent body that tested the product, which is a different document from a manufacturer's own declaration. If a requirement like that applies to your operation, ask us in writing for the current certification documentation on this exact model before you order. We would rather send you a document than have you infer one from a product page.

Shipping and Delivery

Six columns ship as freight to the lower 48, quoted live at checkout for your address — we do not print a figure, because carrier rates move and a stale number becomes a dispute. Warehouse pickup is available from our Valor, Tuxedo and iDeal locations.

Before you book a delivery date, confirm the crated weight with us in writing. The iDEAL specification sheet states the ship weight per column, while our own catalogue records the same figure without that qualifier — on a six-column set those two readings are very far apart, and the difference decides whether a pallet jack is enough or you need a forklift and a loading plan. This is a two-minute email that prevents a very expensive delivery-day problem.

You must be able to unload at your address, or take pickup at the freight terminal instead. Inspect every crate before you sign, and write any damage on the delivery receipt while the driver is present — freight damage noted on the paperwork is a claim; freight damage found the next morning is a conversation.

Warranty

This listing does not publish a warranty term, and we are not going to state one we cannot evidence. Structural cover and parts cover on equipment of this class are frequently quoted on different terms by different sellers, so ask us for the current written terms before you commit — on a purchase this size that document should be in your file before the order is placed, not after. Our claims process is on the warranty claims page. If a column develops a fault, stop using the set and start the claim before anyone opens a column or a control panel; disassembly before a claim is the most reliable way to lose one.
