Product Description

iDEAL MSC-13K-B-452 mobile column lifting set

One technician can put this lift where it needs to go. Each column moves on a pallet-jack style wheel, which sounds like a footnote until you have watched two people wrestle a column across a bay because the equipment was designed to be positioned by a team. Rated at 52,000 lbs, the MSC-13K-B-452 lifts a vehicle by its wheels with nothing anchored to the floor and nothing cut into it, and then gets pushed out of the way by the same person who set it up.

That is the whole argument for a mobile column set over a fixed lift, and it only holds if handling the columns is genuinely a one-person job.

Large carriage bearings, and what they are for

The carriage is the assembly that travels up the column with the fork and the load on it. Large bearings there do two things: they keep the carriage moving smoothly under an off-centre load, and they keep it from binding as the equipment ages. A carriage that binds is the classic failure mode on a used column lift — it does not break, it just becomes slow, noisy and unpleasant, and eventually nobody wants to use it. Sized bearings are a durability decision made at the design stage, and they are the sort of thing that separates equipment that is still pleasant to use in year eight from equipment that is merely still working.

Behind them sits a heavy-duty hydraulic system doing the actual lifting, and a mechanical locking system holding the load once it is up. Those are different jobs and it is worth being clear about which does which: hydraulics move the vehicle, mechanical locks hold it, and the locks on this set are independent per column so no column's lock relies on its neighbour.

Keeping columns together

A programmable logic controller and an electro-optical encoder keep all columns continuously synchronised — position measured and corrected while the lift moves, rather than set going and trusted. The master controller runs the columns individually or in synchronised pairs, and the LCD screen with keyboard displays settings and lifting height as figures rather than approximations. An emergency switch on every column means the stop is always within reach of whoever notices the problem.

Will It Fit?

  • Overhead. 88.6" collapsed, 155.5" fully extended per column. What has to clear your ceiling is that extended height plus the vehicle standing on the forks.
  • Lift. 67.1" of lifting height.
  • Concrete. A minimum surface strength of 3000 PSI. No anchors are used, which makes the slab's condition more relevant rather than less.
  • Layout. Columns can stand up to 32.8' apart; each is 44.1" wide overall.
  • Tyres. Forks adjust between 6.3" and 22", measure 14" long, and clear the column by 9.3".
  • Electrical. Charging draws 100-140VAC, 60Hz, 1 PH per column; the columns run on 24VDC. Single-phase service is enough.
  • Setting. Indoor set-up and operation, as specified.

Those checks are yours to make against the building you actually have. If a measurement comes out marginal, ask us before ordering rather than hoping.

Jack stands are the accessory to think about early

Optional jack stands are listed for this set, and they matter more than an options line suggests. A column lift holds a vehicle by its wheels — which is exactly what you want, until the job is a wheel-off job. Stands take the chassis so the wheels can come off, and buying them with the lift is considerably simpler than discovering the need halfway through a brake overhaul.

Perfect For

  • Single-technician bays where equipment that needs two people to move does not get moved.
  • Fleet and municipal workshops lifting heavy vehicles in buildings that cannot be altered.
  • Growing shops — the platform is offered in more than one column configuration, so the working method transfers if the fleet grows.
  • Multi-use floors that have to be clear for something else by the afternoon.
  • Buyers replacing an ageing column set who have already learned what a binding carriage feels like.

What's in the Box, and what is not

The columns, the master controller with its LCD screen and keyboard, the synchronisation system and the adjustable lifting forks. Jack stands are optional and separately ordered.

Batteries are not supplied. The specification calls for 12VDC sealed deep cycle batteries, BCI Group 31, AH-105, and our data does not state how many go into each column. That is a real cost and a real delivery-day question, so get the per-column quantity from us in writing before you place the order.

A discrepancy in this listing's data, stated openly

The specification sheet we hold for this model lists a column configuration that does not agree with its own published capacity or with the model designation. Rather than pick whichever reading looks more likely, we are telling you it is unresolved: confirm the number of columns supplied in this set with us in writing before you order. It takes one email, and it is not a question anyone should be answering from a web page.

Approvals, without the badge language

No independent third-party safety listing is recorded in the data we hold on this model, and we are not going to write a sentence that leaves the opposite impression. Equipment is often sold on the manufacturer's own specification, which is normal and is not in itself a criticism of the machine.

It becomes your problem only if someone else requires the paperwork — an insurer writing a policy on a workshop, a corporate fleet standard, or a local authority inspecting lifting equipment. Those bodies typically want a listing issued by an independent testing organisation, which is a different document from a manufacturer's declaration. If that describes your situation, ask us in writing for the certification documentation that exists on this exact model, and make the decision on the document rather than on marketing language.

Shipping and Delivery

Freight only, within the lower 48, with the cost quoted live at checkout against your own delivery address rather than printed here where it would go stale. Warehouse pickup from our Valor, Tuxedo and iDeal locations is available as an alternative.

Note that ship weight is published per column, so the crated total depends on the column count this set actually contains — another reason to settle the question above in writing first. You will need to unload at your address or arrange to collect from the freight terminal. Look over every crate before signing and record any damage on the delivery receipt at the time, because that receipt is the document a freight claim is built on.

Warranty

There is no warranty period published on this listing, so none is stated here. Ask us for the written terms before ordering; on equipment at this level, structural cover and parts cover usually run for different lengths of time and you should know both numbers before you buy. The claims process is on our warranty claims page. Should a fault occur, stop using the set and open a claim before anything is taken apart — dismantling first is the surest way to turn a covered failure into an argument.
