Challenger Lifts CL10-XP9-QC — 9,000 lb Drive-On Pad Lift, QuickCycle

The interesting engineering on this lift is at the ends of the platforms. Its access ramps are reinforced and built to flip up and lock upright, which turns them from ramps into extensions of the platform itself. That is why the platform length is published as three numbers instead of one — 58", 66.5" or 75" — and it is the reason a single pad lift can spot a small hatchback in seconds and then carry something with a much longer wheelbase properly supported rather than balanced on the last few inches of steel.

Everything else follows from that. It is a 9,000 lb drive-on express pad lift in the QuickCycle configuration: 27 seconds to full rise, 17 seconds down. Drive-on means no arm positioning and no reaching under a sill to find a pinch weld — the vehicle goes on, the technician starts working.

How this model differs from its sibling

We list a near-identical lift, the DPC version, and the only specification that separates them is dual pendant controls. On that model there is a control station at each column; on this one, dual pendant controls are not listed. Everything else — capacity, platform dimensions, rise, motor, ceiling requirement, cycle time — is the same.

Which you want is a question about your bay, not about lift quality. If a technician typically works alone and stays on one side of the vehicle, a single control station is not a problem and this is the model to buy. If two people share the bay, or the layout means walking round the car to reach the buttons, the dual-pendant version repays the difference quickly. We would rather you made that decision knowingly than discovered it after installation.

Low platforms, and why 2.25" matters

The platforms stand 2.25" off the floor. On a drive-on lift that is the number that decides which vehicles you can actually put on it: anything with a low front air dam, a lowered suspension or a deep splitter meets the approach ramp before it meets the platform. A low platform combined with reinforced ramps is what keeps that from being a daily problem.

Each platform is 24" wide with 31.5" between them. That gap is what governs what a technician can reach from underneath — wide enough to work in, narrow enough that the platforms sit under the vehicle's structure rather than out at the sills.

Will It Fit?

A 12 ft ceiling is the standard requirement, and 2 ft and 3 ft height extensions are available if your building is taller or an overhead obstruction forces the crossbar up.

The lift stands 140" overall and 143" with the cylinder extended. Use the second figure for planning, not the first — it is the tallest the assembly ever reaches, and lighting, sprinkler heads and duct runs do not move. The floor-to-overhead-switch height is 134.5".

Across the bay the lift is 138.5" wide overall, with 110" — 9.15 ft — inside the columns. Drive-through clearance is 90", or 7.5 ft, which is a hard maximum for the width of vehicle that will pass between the columns. Rise height is 70", and the lifting height at the top of the pad is quoted as 6 ft.

Power is a 3HP motor running on 208V–230V, 60Hz, 1Ph.

Confirming the site is the buyer's responsibility, and there is one thing we cannot confirm for you from here: our product data for this model contains no concrete thickness figure and no concrete strength rating. Every pound this lift holds ends up in the slab through two base plates, so please do not proceed on the assumption that an existing floor is adequate, and do not copy a specification from a different lift. The parts that wear: cable, pulley, carriage

The equalisation cable is 5/16", running over an oversized 5" pulley. That combination is a durability decision rather than a performance one — a wire rope's life is governed mostly by how sharply it is bent on each cycle, so a bigger pulley means fewer replacements over the life of the lift. The carriage is 48" and elongated, which puts the load into a longer section of column and keeps the travel smooth as things bed in.

The lock release is a pulley-less jacketed single-point system: one control drops the locks in both columns together, with no exposed release cable to seize. Base plates are fully gusseted, the overhead shut-off is padded so a roof meets rubber rather than steel, and dual integrated rubber door guards are standard.

Two numbers in our data that contradict each other

• Platform height: 2.25" or 2.5"? The model spec sheet says 2.25"; a separate catalogue field records a minimum pad height of 2.5". For most buyers this is academic. For a shop taking in low vehicles it is the whole purchase decision, so ask us and we will confirm the correct figure with the manufacturer.
• Rise: 70" or 68"? The spec sheet gives 70" rise height. Another field lists 68" as maximum rise under arms — and this lift has no arms, so that value has almost certainly been inherited from an arms-based model in the same family. We would plan on 70" and confirm before committing if the difference is material to your bay.

Perfect For

Quick-service and express lanes where the job is measured in minutes and drive-on spotting removes the slowest part of it. Tyre, brake and exhaust shops doing repetitive work on a wide range of vehicles — the three platform lengths are what make that range workable. Inspection and safety-check bays. Single-technician bays, where a single control station is no disadvantage and the saving over the dual-pendant model is real. It is a poorer fit for heavy suspension and driveline work, where an arms lift and true wheels-free access matter more than spotting speed.

Challenger records this model as ALI/ETL certified. The value of those marks is that an independent body assessed the lift — which is a materially different thing from a manufacturer declaring its own product compliant, and the difference is exactly what gets tested when an insurer, a fleet policy or a local inspector asks for documentation. Two suggestions: read your own requirement to see whether it names a particular scheme, and if you plan to add accessories to the lift, ask us to confirm the listing still covers the configuration. We will get that answered by the manufacturer instead of inferring it.

Ships freight to the lower 48 states, with the charge calculated live at checkout for your delivery address rather than written into this page. It arrives crated and heavy — arrange a forklift or a dock, or collect from the carrier's terminal. Residential delivery can be arranged and carries a residential fee. Inspect in the driver's presence: check the crates against the paperwork, look over the platforms, column packaging and hydraulic fittings, and note damage on the bill of lading before you sign. Once signed clean, the carrier's position is that it arrived in good order.
