Challenger Lifts CL10-XP9-DPC-QC — 9,000 lb Drive-On Pad Lift with Dual Pendant Controls

There is exactly one specification that separates this lift from the otherwise identical QuickCycle model beside it in our range, and it is in the model code: DPC — dual pendant controls. Instead of a single control station on one column, there is a pendant at each column. That is the whole difference, and whether it is worth the price gap depends entirely on how your bay is laid out.

Here is why it matters in practice. On a drive-on pad lift in an express bay, the technician's position changes constantly — spotting the vehicle, checking a pad, working one side, then the other. With a single control station, every raise and lower means walking back around the vehicle to the one column that has the buttons. With a pendant on each column, the control is wherever the technician already is. On a lift built for cycle time — and this one is, with a 27-second rise and a 17-second descent — walking round the car is the slowest thing in the process.

The drive-on pad, and who it suits

This is a pad lift, not an arms lift. The vehicle drives onto two low platforms rather than being spotted over arms and swung into position. For express work that is a large gain: there is no arm positioning, no hunting for pinch welds, and first-try spotting becomes the normal outcome rather than a good day. The trade is that a pad lift does not give you wheels-free access the way an arms lift does, so it suits tyre, brake, exhaust, fluid and inspection work more than it suits suspension teardown.

The platforms sit just 2.25" high, which is what keeps low-clearance vehicles from grounding on the approach. Each platform is 24" wide, and there is 31.5" between them.

Ramps that flip up and lock — the feature that changes what fits

The front and rear access ramps are reinforced and designed to flip up and lock in the raised position, which extends the usable platform length. That is why platform length is quoted as three figures rather than one: 58", 66.5" or 75". A short platform is what you want for spotting a compact car quickly; the extended length is what lets a longer-wheelbase vehicle sit on the pads with its weight properly supported. Being able to change between them without tools, in seconds, is the difference between a lift that suits half your work and one that suits most of it.

A column-mounted spotting block storage caddy is standard, which sounds trivial until you have watched a shop store spotting blocks on the floor.

Will It Fit?

Ceiling requirement is 12 ft as standard, with 2 ft and 3 ft height extensions available.

The figure to check hardest is 143" — the cylinder-extended height, not the 140" nominal — because that is the tallest the lift ever becomes and it is what will meet a light fitting or a duct run. Drive-through clearance of 90" is the other one: that is the widest vehicle that will pass between the columns, and it is a hard limit rather than a recommendation.

Electrical supply is a 3HP motor on 208V–230V, 60Hz, 1Ph.

You confirm the site. Ceiling, overhead services, door header and power supply all need checking before the lift is shipped, and so does the slab — which is where we have to be honest: our data for this model contains no concrete thickness and no concrete strength requirement. A two-post lift transfers everything it holds into the floor through two base plates. Ask us and we will get Challenger's floor specification in writing before you order.

Cable, pulley and carriage

The equalisation cable is 5/16" and runs over an oversized 5" diameter pulley. The larger the pulley, the gentler the bend the cable takes on every cycle, and bend radius is what actually determines how long a wire rope survives in service. The carriage is 48" and elongated, spreading the load along more of the column so the assembly resists racking and wears evenly. Challenger also uses a pulley-less jacketed single-point lock release, meaning both columns release together from one control and there is no exposed release cable to corrode.

Elsewhere: fully gusseted base plates for column rigidity at the floor, a padded overhead shut-off to stop a vehicle roof before it reaches the crossbar, dual integrated rubber door guards, and a premium powder coat finish.

Two figures in our data that do not agree

• Platform height. The spec sheet gives 2.25". A separate catalogue field gives a minimum pad height of 2.5". If you are buying this lift specifically for low-clearance vehicles, that quarter of an inch may be the reason you are buying it — ask us and we will confirm the correct figure with Challenger.
• Rise. The spec sheet quotes a 70" rise height; a second field records 68" as the maximum rise under arms. This is a pad lift with no arms, so that second field is very likely inherited from an arms-based model in the same series. Plan on the 70" figure and confirm with us if the difference is material.

Perfect For

Express service lanes and quick-lube bays, which is the environment this exact build was assembled for: drive-on spotting, fast cycle, and a control at each column. Tyre and brake shops doing high volumes of short jobs where minutes per vehicle are the business model. Multi-technician bays, where the dual pendants stop two people getting in each other's way. Inspection stations. It is less suited to heavy teardown and suspension work, where an arms lift earns its keep instead.

What's in the Box

The lift, its two columns and carriages, the drive-on platforms with their reinforced flip-up access ramps, the dual pendant controls, the column-mounted spotting block caddy, the padded overhead shut-off and dual integrated rubber door guards — all listed as standard. The 2 ft and 3 ft height extensions are options. Anything else is not itemised in the manufacturer's copy we hold, so ask before assuming.

This lift is recorded as ALI/ETL certified. Both marks indicate assessment by an independent third party rather than a manufacturer's self-declaration of conformity — a distinction that becomes practical the moment an insurer, a fleet safety policy or a local inspector asks what is bolted to your floor, because a self-declaration does not satisfy a rule written around third-party listing. If your requirement names a scheme, or if you are mounting accessories to the lift, ask us to confirm that your configuration falls inside the listing's scope. We will check it with the manufacturer rather than assume.

Shipping and Delivery

Freight only, to the lower 48 states, with the cost quoted live at checkout for your address so it is current rather than a stale figure. Columns and platforms are heavy and arrive crated: have a forklift, a dock, or plan to collect from the carrier's terminal. Residential delivery is available for a residential fee. Inspect before you sign — check the column packaging, the platform edges and the hydraulic fittings, and write any damage on the bill of lading while the driver is still with you. A clean signature is taken as confirmation that nothing arrived damaged, and it is very difficult to walk back.

Warranty

Claims are handled through the warranty claims page. We are not stating a warranty term here because our data holds none we would stand behind — ask and we will send Challenger's current wording. Whatever the period, one rule protects it on any powered lift: do not disassemble the failed part. Stop using the lift, photograph the failure exactly as it occurred, and contact us before anything is taken apart. A component that has already been stripped cannot be assessed, and that alone is enough to have a genuine claim declined.
