Challenger Lifts 4115XFX — 15,000 lb Closed-Front Extended Alignment Rack

Of the four racks in Challenger's 4115 family, this is the one that takes the longest vehicle. Its maximum wheelbase is 210.5" — substantially more than the standard-length builds — and that number, not the capacity, is usually what decides whether the XFX is the right rack for a shop. Capacity is the same 15,000 lbs across the range. Wheelbase is what changes, and a vehicle that will not sit inside the rack's wheelbase does not get aligned no matter how much the lift will hold.

The second half of the model code is front closed: a crossmember spans the front of the rack. You lose the walk-in access that the open-front build gives you, and you gain a fully enclosed front column and crossbeam assembly — Challenger's own reason for offering it is a cleaner-looking, fully enclosed rack. If your technicians are not standing at the nose of the vehicle for most of the job, the closed front is the easier rack to live with.

Will It Fit?

Start with the recommended bay rather than the rack: Challenger asks for a minimum of 14' x 26'.

Note that the closed-front build quotes a single inside-column figure of 125.5" and a single column height of 98", where the open-front rack has different front and rear numbers. That is a consequence of the front crossmember, and it makes the XFX marginally simpler to lay out.

Rise height is 78". Runways are 26" wide, sit 7" off the floor and are set 40.625" apart. Power is a 2HP motor on 208V–230V, 60Hz, 1Ph, and the rack needs a shop air supply of 90–120 psi to run its locks. Rise time is 85 seconds.

What you have to confirm before ordering: bay length and width against the figures above, ceiling and door clearance, and the electrical supply. We do not hold a concrete specification for this rack — no thickness, no strength rating. That is a gap in our data rather than a statement that any slab will do, and it is worth an email: ask and we will obtain the manufacturer's floor requirement in writing before you commit.

Why the wheelbase figure is the one to check

Alignment racks are usually shopped on capacity, and capacity is rarely the binding constraint. A 15,000 lb rating covers essentially everything a general or fleet workshop drives in. Wheelbase does not: a long-wheelbase van, a crew-cab pickup with the long bed, or a light commercial chassis will run out of rack before it runs out of capacity. The XFX exists for exactly that shop. Measure your longest regular vehicle from front axle centre to rear axle centre and compare it against 210.5" before you look at anything else on this page.

Runways: 26" of usable width

The runways on this generation are 26" wide. Width on a four-post rack is not about the weight — it is about the track of the vehicle and the confidence of the person driving it on. A narrow runway means a technician creeping up the ramps, correcting, and sometimes reversing off to try again; a wider runway absorbs the difference between a compact car's track and a medium-duty truck's without either being a special case. Between the runways there is 40.625", which is the space that determines what the technician can reach and where a rolling jack can sit.

The lock system and the slide block

The rack has 17 locking positions with a redesigned lock. In daily use, a denser set of lock positions means the runways stop nearer to the height the technician actually wants rather than the nearest available notch — over a shift spent under a vehicle, that is a real ergonomic difference. Inside the columns, an internally encapsulated UHMW slide block carries the load path between carriage and column. Enclosing the wear surface keeps workshop grit off it, which is the ordinary cause of a rack that starts to move roughly after a few years.

Two things in the shared marketing copy that do not match this model

The 4115 range shares one block of manufacturer copy across all four builds, and on this SKU two claims in it do not survive contact with the model's own spec sheet. We would rather flag them than let them sell the lift for us:

• The galvanized coating upgrade. The shared copy encourages you to add galvanizing to the runways, jack rails and turn-plate pockets. The XFX spec sheet records the galvanized upgrade as not applicable. If galvanizing is a requirement for you — a coastal shop, a bay that sees a lot of road salt — contact us before ordering and we will confirm availability directly with Challenger.
• The open-front description. The shared copy praises the open-front layout at length. This is the closed-front build. The rack is correct as listed; the paragraph is written for the family, not the SKU.

One further blank worth knowing about: the two-wheel and four-wheel alignment range rows on this model's spec sheet are empty. It is an alignment rack and it accepts the alignment kit, but we hold no published alignment range and will not calculate one for you from the wheelbase figure.

Perfect For

Fleet and light-commercial workshops whose vehicles are long rather than merely heavy — this is the rack in the family built for them. Alignment bays that also need a rack for general service work, and are happy to trade front access for a fully enclosed front. Shops using imaging alignment equipment: Challenger states compatibility with current imaging alignment systems. It is not a home-garage rack. A 14' x 26' recommended bay, a 208V–230V single-phase supply and a shop air feed are all commercial-building requirements.

What's in the Box

The rack, four columns, the runways and the louvered approach ramps. The alignment kit — rolling jacks, an internal airline system and stainless steel turn plates — is optional and priced separately. That is the item most likely to differ between two quotes that otherwise look identical, so check what is inside any comparison you are making.

Challenger records this rack as ALI/ETL certified — third-party assessment, as distinct from a manufacturer declaring its own conformity. That distinction is the one that matters when an insurer or a jurisdiction sets a requirement, because the two documents are not interchangeable and an inspector who wants the third-party listing will not accept the other. Before ordering, check whether your requirement names a scheme, and ask us to confirm that the exact build and accessory set you want sits inside the listing's scope. We can get that in writing from the manufacturer.

Shipping and Delivery

Ships freight to the lower 48 states with the cost quoted live at checkout against your delivery address, so it reflects today's rates rather than a figure someone typed into a page last year. Plan the unload: this is a long shipment and needs a forklift or telehandler that can take full-length runways, unless you take terminal collection instead — a common choice for a rack this size. Residential delivery is available for a residential fee. Do not sign for it without looking: check the count against the paperwork, inspect the runway ends and the column packaging, and note damage on the bill of lading in the driver's presence. Signing clean is signing away most of your claim.

Warranty

Warranty claims run through the warranty claims page. We have not stated a term on this page because we do not hold a published one for this model that we are willing to put in writing — ask us and we will send the manufacturer's current terms. Regardless of the term: if a component fails, leave it assembled. Take the rack out of service, photograph the fault where it sits, and speak to us before a spanner touches it. Assessors treat a disassembled part as unprovable, and a claim that would have been paid gets refused on that basis alone.
