BendPak 2 Post Lift PL-6000DCX 6,000 lb

BendPak PL-6000DCX Two-Post Parking Lift

The engineering decision that defines this lift is what it does not have. There is no chain and no screw drive: a single hydraulic cylinder in a direct-drive arrangement raises the platform, and the platform comes down under gravity rather than being driven down. A parking lift spends most of its life stationary with a car on it and is cycled a couple of times a day, so the design goal is not speed — it is having as little as possible that wears, stretches, needs adjusting or needs lubricating. Screw drives need maintenance. Chains stretch. A cylinder and a pump do neither, and gravity lowering means the motor only ever works in one direction, which also keeps the power draw down.

Rated at 6,000 lbs. per platform, the PL-6000DCX is a freestanding two-post parking lift for stacking vehicles in residential garages, dealerships and commercial parking structures, with a galvanised, corrugated anti-slip platform surface and a corrosion-resistant box-frame structure.

Before you measure: our two sources disagree

We would rather tell you this at the top of the page than let you find it after you have poured a slab. The description supplied for this lift and BendPak's own specification block do not agree on several of the main dimensions, and in at least one case the description appears to have reused the lifting height as a platform width. We are not going to average them, quietly pick the flattering one, or convert one into the other to see which looks right. Here is exactly what each source says.

Measurement Product description Specification block
Capacity 6,000 lbs. (2,722 kg) 6,000 lbs. (2,700 kg) per platform
Height / post height 131 in. (3,327 mm) 131 in. (3,320 mm)
Length 148.25 in. (3,766 mm) 163.5 in. (4,152.5 mm) overall; platform 157 in. (3,990 mm)
Width 100.25 in. (2,547 mm) 112 in. (2,847 mm) outside edge to outside edge; posts 105.5 in. (2,682 mm) centre to centre
Usable platform width 82.5 in. (2,100 mm) 94.5 in. (2,400 mm) — the spec block gives 82.5 in. (2,100 mm) as the lifting height
Lifting height 82.5 in. (2,100 mm) 82.5 in. (2,100 mm); our own product record carries 83 in.
Power 110 or 220 VAC, 50/60 Hz, single or three phase; 2.2 kW pump 208-240V, 50/60 Hz, 1-Ph., 4 HP, 22 Amps

If any of those numbers is load-bearing for your build — and a lifting height, a platform width and an electrical supply all usually are — contact us before you order and we will confirm the figure against the current factory drawing. That is a five-minute conversation now instead of a delivery you cannot install.

Will It Fit?

Whichever figures turn out to be authoritative, the shape of the problem is the same. This is a tall structure: the posts stand 131 in., and the platform lifts to 82.5 in. (2,100 mm) — so you need the height of the lower vehicle, plus the platform, plus the upper vehicle, plus clearance, all inside your ceiling. Measure to the lowest obstruction, not the highest point of the roof.

Other dimensions from the specification block: the post support length is 60.25 in. (1,532 mm), the control column stands 71 in. (1,805 mm), the platform sits 36.25 in. (918.25 mm) above its support, and minimum side clearance is 2 in. (50.75 mm). Operating conditions are given as +41°F to +104°F (+5°C to +40°C) at 50% relative humidity.

The slab and the electrical supply are the customer's responsibility. A freestanding parking lift carrying 6,000 lbs. of vehicle at height puts a specific set of loads into a floor, and only your installer, working from BendPak's installation manual, can tell you whether your concrete is suitable. Have the circuit run before delivery day rather than after.

Safety, in layers

Automatic load-holding devices engage during lifting so the platform cannot drop if hydraulic pressure is lost, and mechanical safety locks are spaced every 4 in. up the posts, giving multiple discrete points where the load is carried by steel rather than by fluid. That spacing matters on a parking lift specifically: it lets you set the platform at the exact height that clears the roof of the car underneath rather than choosing between too low and wasted headroom.

Hydraulic overload protection prevents the lift being run beyond its rating, and a manual safety lock release means the locks can always be disengaged deliberately. An electric key switch is the feature people underrate — it means the lift cannot be operated by anyone who does not hold the key, which in a household with children or a shared commercial garage is the difference between a machine and a hazard. Control voltage is 24 VAC rather than mains, so what the operator touches is a low-voltage circuit.

Built to sit outside as well as in

The structure is corrosion-resistant steel in a box-frame design, and the platform surface is galvanised and corrugated for grip. Both matter more than they sound: a parking lift often lives in a carport, a driveway installation or an unheated structure where a service lift never would, and a wet platform that a driver has to step onto is a slip hazard before it is anything else. Because the design is freestanding, it can be positioned where the parking makes sense rather than where the building was originally laid out.

Perfect For

  • Home garages doubling parking in a footprint that cannot be extended.
  • Dealerships stacking inventory rather than renting more lot.
  • Commercial parking operators increasing spaces per square foot of floor.
  • Collectors who want vehicles indoors and off the driveway, on a lift that needs little maintenance between uses.

What's in the Box

  • Two-post freestanding structure with galvanised, corrugated anti-slip platform
  • Single direct-drive hydraulic cylinder and power unit
  • Automatic load-holding devices and mechanical safety locks every 4 in.
  • Hydraulic overload protection and manual safety lock release
  • Electric key switch and 24 VAC control system

We list only what the manufacturer's own material states is included. If your installation needs anything beyond that — anchors, ramps, drip trays — ask us before ordering rather than assuming.

Dimensions are deliberately not repeated in this table. See the comparison above, where each figure is attributed to the source that states it.

Certification, stated honestly

Our product data for this lift carries no third-party safety certification claim, and we will not imply one. That is about documentation, not engineering — but storing one vehicle at height above another is precisely the scenario an insurer, a strata or homeowners' association, or a building department tends to have rules about. If a specific North American third-party lift safety listing is required where you are, send us the wording and we will check it against BendPak's documentation before you buy.

Shipping and delivery

Freight only, to the lower 48 states, priced live at checkout for your address. This is a heavy palletised shipment and you have to take it off the truck — forklift, dock or a booked rigger. If none apply, take terminal pickup; on a lift this size it is often cheaper and simpler. Residential delivery is available and carries a fee. Warehouse pickup is offered, and the BendPak locations are listed further down this page.

Inspect the shipment before you sign for it, and write any damage on the bill of lading with the driver present. Once a clean bill of lading has been signed, a freight claim is very hard to pursue. Photographs taken at the truck cost you nothing and are worth a great deal if something is wrong.

Warranty

BendPak publishes a single warranty document covering its whole product line rather than a term per model; we will send the current copy on request rather than quote a number of years this page cannot substantiate. Keep your installation paperwork, and do not disassemble a component you intend to claim on — an opened power unit or cylinder is the most common reason a genuine claim is refused.
