Long runways, because a trailer is longer than a car

The runways on the HD-75BXT measure 206.25" (5,239 mm). That is substantially longer than the four-post lifts this brand builds for cars, and it is the single fact that tells you what this machine is for. A boat sits on a trailer, a trailer has a tongue at one end and tandem axles at the other, and a runway sized for a sedan simply runs out before the trailer does.

Everything else follows from that decision. Rated at 7,500 lbs. (3,402 kg), rising to a maximum lifting height of 87" (2,210 mm), with runways that reposition between wide and narrow settings, the HD-75BXT is built to get a hull out of the water and into your own building — and to take a car or a light truck the rest of the year instead of standing empty.

The number that catches people out: minimum wheelbase

Long runways buy length, but they change the loading maths. A four-post lift's rating assumes weight spread along its runways; a short, heavy load concentrates it between fewer support points and the lift derates. Because this model's runways are longer than the family standard, its full-capacity wheelbase requirement is longer too:

Usable capacity Minimum wheelbase
Full rated capacity 150" (3,810 mm)
75% capacity 130" (3,302 mm)
50% capacity 110" (2,794 mm)
25% capacity 90" (2,286 mm)

Read it before you buy, not after. A single-axle trailer with a short axle-to-coupling span, or a compact car parked underneath, does not get the headline figure — it gets the row it actually lands on. The per-axle limits are 3,750 lbs. (1,701 kg) front and rear, so the load has to arrive reasonably balanced as well as long enough. For a boat, that is a question best answered with a weighbridge ticket rather than an estimate from the hull length.

Will It Fit?

  • Floor length. 248.5" (6,312 mm) overall, or 222" (5,639 mm) outside length without the approach ramps — ramps which are deliberately low-profile and extended so a trailer loads without grounding.
  • Floor width. 133.75" (3,397 mm) overall.
  • Ceiling. Columns stand 100" (2,540 mm). Maximum rise is 82" (2,083 mm) and maximum lifting height 87" (2,210 mm), so your ceiling has to clear the stored vehicle at whichever lock height you settle on.
  • Getting past it. Drive-thru clearance 108.5" (2,756 mm); width between columns 122" (3,099 mm), about 10 ft.
  • Runways. 19" (483 mm) wide, set 46.5" (1,181 mm) or 66.5" (1,689 mm) apart, centred at 68.5" (1,740 mm) or 88.5" (2,248 mm), outside edges at 87.5" (2,223 mm) or 107.5" (2,730 mm).
  • Lowered. Minimum runway height 5" (127 mm); a full cycle takes 50 Seconds.
  • Power. 208-230 VAC, 60 Hz, 1 Ph.

Our record states no concrete thickness or strength requirement. It is in the installation manual linked on this page — note that the manual and specification documents here are published for the HD-7500 four-post series, which is the correct family, and we will confirm the right document for your serial plate on request. Checking ceiling, floor, slab and supply before delivery is the buyer's responsibility.

Wide or narrow: decide with a tape measure

Trailer bunks are not built to one width, and the runways move to suit. Choosing between the wide and narrow settings changes the outside edge of the runways by twenty inches, which is the figure your floor plan actually has to accommodate — so measure the trailer bunk to bunk, not the hull at its beam, and do it before the lift is set out and anchored. Two lifting heights are also offered, which is the other decision made at installation rather than afterwards.

Why the storage argument holds up

A hull left in the water attracts saltwater corrosion, barnacles, blistering and rust, none of which are cheap to undo. A hull at a marina attracts a monthly invoice that scales with the size of the boat. Lifting it into your own building removes both problems, and the same reasoning is why boat-storage businesses buy lifts like this one: vertical space they already pay rent on becomes space they can let.

Underneath, this is the same machine as the automotive four-posts rather than a lightweight built for a niche. Dual-hub wire rope sheaves reduce stress and fatigue on the axles, sheaves and cables. A single hydraulic cylinder is hidden under the runway. The electric-hydraulic power unit is maintenance-free with controls close at hand. Rugged 1-1/4" roller axles carry the rollers.

Locks that matter more on a storage lift

A serviced car is in the air for an hour. A stored boat is in the air for a season, which puts the locking system under a different kind of scrutiny. Spring-loaded safety locks engage continuously as the lift rises, across seventeen locking positions spaced every 4 in. / 102 mm, so you can set the exact height that clears what is parked underneath. Stainless and aluminium pneumatic cylinders release all four at once from a single button. A secondary lock system stands behind them as a slack-cable device, engaging if a cable ever loses tension, and internal anti-sway slider blocks in each column stop the carriages rocking as the load shifts.

Perfect For

  • Boat owners with the ceiling height, replacing a recurring storage bill with a one-off purchase.
  • Boat and powersports storage businesses selling vertical space they already rent.
  • Two-vehicle home garages stacking a car above a car in one footprint.
  • Coastal and salted-road climates, where getting the hull or the chassis out of the wet is the entire justification.

What's in the Box

From this model's own feature list: the four-post structure with adjustable-width runways and longer low-profile approach ramps, heavy-duty aircraft cable, dual-hub wire rope sheaves, rugged 1-1/4" roller axles, the single hydraulic cylinder mounted under the runway, the electric-hydraulic power system, multi-level safety locks with push-button pneumatic release, internal anti-sway slider blocks in each column and a durable powder-coat finish. Drip trays, casters and jacks are accessories and are not included — specify them with the lift rather than retro-fitting later.

Certification, stated honestly

We hold no third-party safety listing for this lift and we are not going to imply one. That is about our paperwork, not about the machine.

An independent North American lift safety listing means an outside body has examined the design and listed the product; a manufacturer's own declaration is a different document and does not replace it. Insurers, commercial landlords and some local code officials ask for the independent kind — far more likely to come up for a storage business than for a boat in your own garage. If it applies to you, ask us in writing before you order.

Shipping and delivery

Freight only, to the lower 48 states, priced live at checkout for your own address — which is why no shipping figure appears on this page.

Delivery is kerbside. Arrange unloading first: a forklift and an operator on site, or collection from the freight terminal, which for a crate this size is often the easier route. Warehouse pickup is available for this brand from our BendPak locations, and a residential address carries a residential fee. Inspect the shipment before you sign and write any damage onto the bill of lading at the time — a clean signature makes a later claim very hard to win.

Warranty

The manufacturer's warranty document is linked on this page; read the term and the exclusions there rather than any summary of them. Whatever the terms, never dismantle a component you intend to claim on — photograph the fault, leave it assembled and contact us first. A stripped part is the usual reason a sound claim is refused.
