BendPak 20AP-192 Two-Post High-Rise Lift, Extended Height

The decision most buyers of a two-post lift get wrong is the drive-through width, and they only find out after the anchors are set. The 20AP-192 removes that decision: its top beam is expandable, so the same lift can be installed in a wide or a narrow drive-through configuration. One lift, two installed geometries, chosen on site against the doorway and the vehicles rather than guessed at from a catalogue six weeks earlier. If your fleet changes — and fleets change — the geometry is not permanently locked to the assumption you made at purchase.

This is the extended-height model in the AP series: 20,000 lbs of capacity in a structure standing 193" (4,904 mm) overall, which is what gives a tall technician room to stand upright under a raised vehicle instead of working with a bent neck. BendPak brings over 50 years of lift building to the series, by its own account.

Will it fit?

Overall height is 193" (4,904 mm) and the floor-to-top-switch height is 186.5" (4,738 mm). Both of those matter: measure to the underside of the lowest thing above the lift — a beam, a duct, a light, a door track — not to the roof. This is a high-rise lift and the ceiling is the constraint that most often rules it out.

Overall width is 168" (4,267 mm), with 149" (3,785 mm) across the outside of the posts and 126" (3,199 mm) between the inside faces. Drive-through width is 107.75" (2,740 mm). Base plates are 28" (710 mm) wide and the post-to-base-plate dimension is 9.5" (241 mm). Lift arms reach from 35" (893 mm) at minimum to 62" (1,678 mm) at maximum, and each arm is rated at a maximum of 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg) — a limit that exists because 20,000 lbs distributed unevenly across four arms is not the same load as 20,000 lbs distributed evenly.

With the pads at their lowest the lift reaches down to 8" (206 mm), which is what makes a low vehicle possible on a lift this tall. Under-clearance at the top lock is 76.5" (1,943 mm), maximum lifting height at the top lock is 82.75" (2,102 mm), and maximum lifting height with adapters is 90.25" (2,292 mm). The power unit runs on 220 VAC, 60 Hz, single phase, and the lift is rated under 70 dB.

Maximum rise is recorded two different ways in our data. BendPak's specification sheet gives a maximum rise of 83.25" (2,114 mm); a separate field on our own product record gives 82". The difference is small and for most installations irrelevant, but if you are working to a ceiling or a specific working height, ask us to confirm the rise figure in writing before you order rather than taking either number from this page.

Concrete thickness and strength, anchoring, ceiling clearance and the electrical supply are the buyer's responsibility to verify against BendPak's installation and operation manual, which is linked in the downloads on this page and is the governing document. A two-post lift transfers its entire load into the slab through the base plates; this is not a specification to estimate.

Arms, pads and reaching the lift points

The arms use double-telescoping screw pads, which is the feature that decides whether a lift is quick or infuriating on an unfamiliar vehicle. Two stages of telescoping plus a screw pad means a lift point can be reached without hunting for the right adapter stack. Drop-end arms give a lower pad height for vehicles with little ground clearance. A padded overhead safety shutoff bar stops the lift before a roof meets the beam, and a single-point safety release disengages the locks from one place rather than at each column.

Arm restraints engage automatically and BendPak states they withstand over 2,000 pounds of side force. That figure is worth reading twice: side force is what a technician applies when leaning on a bar or breaking a stubborn fastener, and an arm that shifts under it is how vehicles come off lifts.

The mechanical package

Lifting is by dual hydraulic direct-drive cylinders through an electric-hydraulic HVLP power system. Carriages ride on a self-lubricating dura-glide UHMW polyethylene bearing system, which is a maintenance argument more than a performance one — a bearing surface that does not need greasing is a bearing surface that does not get neglected. Equalizer cables are heavy-duty aircraft-quality and run over oversized sheaves, the same fatigue-reduction logic that applies to every cable-and-sheave lift: the bigger the sheave, the gentler the bend, the longer the cable lasts. Safety locks are spaced every 3" in each column, so a working height can be chosen closely rather than accepted. The finish is powder coat.

Perfect For

  • Heavy-duty fleet service shops running mixed vehicle types
  • Airport ground-support and emergency vehicle maintenance
  • Shops with tall technicians or tall vehicles where standing room under the lift is the constraint
  • Facilities that need one lift to handle both wide and narrow drive-through installation

What's in the Box

The 20AP-192 two-post structure with its expandable top beam, telescoping arms with double-telescoping screw pads and drop-end arms, automatic arm restraints, single-point safety release, padded overhead safety shutoff bar, dual hydraulic direct-drive cylinders, aircraft-quality equalizer cables and the electric-hydraulic HVLP power unit. BendPak supplies an assortment of lifting adapters for the AP series; confirm with us in writing which adapters are included in your order and which are separate, because that is the item most often assumed rather than checked. Anchors, concrete work and electrical installation are not included.

Certification, stated plainly

Our product data for the 20AP-192 records no third-party lift safety listing claim. We are not going to put one on the page, and we are not claiming none exists — only that we have not verified one, which is a different and more useful thing to tell you. It matters here because a two-post lift is the type most often written into a workplace safety policy or an insurance schedule: the load is held entirely by the structure and the anchors, and the people underneath it are standing, not lying on a creeper. If your insurer, your customer contract, your fleet policy or your local inspection regime requires a listing document, raise it with us before you order and we will confirm in writing what documentation BendPak issues for this model.

Shipping and delivery

Freight only, to the lower 48 states. A high-rise two-post lift ships as long, heavy columns and you need to be able to get them off the trailer — a forklift or equivalent equipment at your end, or terminal pickup from the carrier collected with suitable equipment. Residential delivery is available and carries a residential fee, though the ceiling height this lift needs rules out most residential buildings. Freight is quoted live at checkout rather than fixed into this description.

Inspect the shipment against the delivery receipt and write any damage onto the paperwork before signing. Column ends and arm assemblies are what take the knocks in transit. Warehouse pickup for BendPak equipment is available at the locations shown in the Pick Up and Delivery section of this page.

Warranty

A written BendPak warranty document covers this lift and is linked from this page; that document is the governing text and none of its terms are restated here. The one general rule: open the claim before you open the equipment. Stripping a cylinder, a power unit or a lock assembly before it has been inspected is the most reliable way to lose a hydraulic warranty claim. Photograph the fault, take the lift out of service, and call us.
