Description
-BendPak 12APX-192 12,000 lb Two-Post Lift, Extended Height
Ask a technician what actually frightens them about a two-post lift and it is rarely the capacity. It is an arm moving when it should not — a vehicle shifting on the pads because a heavy component came off one end, and a swing arm walking with it. The 12APX-192 answers that with a forged-steel automatic restraint system gripping through a full 360° and holding each arm with over 2,000 lbs. of force. Not a pin in a hole, and not a toothed segment engaging one way: a clamp that resists movement whichever way the load pushes, freed by a quick-release lever when you want the arm to move.
Around that sits a 12,000 lbs. (5,443 kg) lift in the extended-height configuration, standing 193 in. (4,904 mm) tall. It is designed for heavy modern vehicles — electric ones in particular, which carry battery armour, reinforced structure and several hundred extra pounds low in the chassis, and which have lifting points further outboard than a comparable combustion car.
Will It Fit?
This is the extended-height model, so start with the ceiling and be exact about it. Overall height is 193 in. (4,904 mm) and the floor-to-top-switch measurement is 186.50 in. (4,738.5 mm). Measure to the lowest obstruction over the bay — a door track, a heater, a truss, a sprinkler head — not to the peak of the roof.
On the floor the lift is 156 in. (3,959 mm) wide overall, 143 in. (3,238 mm) across the outside of the posts and 120 in. (3,047 mm) between the inside faces, giving 103 in. (2,616 mm) of drive-thru width. The columns set up wide or narrow from the same package — useful when a bay is a foot narrower than ideal.
Working heights: maximum rise is 75.75 in. (1,922 mm), lifting height with the pad down is 78.50 in. (1,992.3 mm), and with the pad screwed up it reaches 82.5 in. (2,095 mm). Minimum height with the pad fitted is 4 in. (101.2 mm), which is what lets a low car get over the arms at all. Front arm reach is 55.25 in. (1,404.2 mm) and rear arm reach 60 in. (1,524.4 mm), with a maximum load of 3,000 lbs. (1,361 kg) per arm — worth checking against a vehicle whose weight is heavily biased to one axle.
Power is 220 VAC, 60 Hz, single phase, and the power unit is rated at under 70 dB. Two things stay the customer's responsibility, and they are the two that matter most: the concrete, which must meet the manufacturer's thickness and strength requirement because a two-post lift transfers everything through its anchors, and the circuit, which needs to be in place before installation. BendPak's installation manual, linked from this page, is the authority on both.
Arms that reach further and retract shorter
The triple-telescoping arms are the second reason this lift exists. Conventional swing arms are limited by their own construction: the inner tube stops against an end plate, a closeout or the pivot pin. BendPak's nested design lets the inner tubes retract back through the assembly and past the pin, so the same arm tucks further out of the way and reaches further out. On an EV with outboard lift points, that range is the difference between a good pad placement and a compromise.
The Low-Pro arms have a shorter profile and a dropped-end pad receiver, so they slide under lowered chassis and side skirts with less risk of contact. Bi-Metric arms let the lift be set up symmetrically, centreline at the columns, or asymmetrically, centreline behind them, without changing arms — so you can load a wide van and a narrow coupe on the same day and open the doors on both.
Pads, adapters and the safety lock
Double-telescoping screw adapters carry gouge-resistant polyurethane pads that screw up or down independently, so a vehicle on an uneven floor or with unequal pinch-weld heights still comes up level. Stackable 2.5 in. and 5 in. adapters are supplied in sets of four, and a column-mounted rack keeps them findable.
The automatic safety lock system engages on every rise without the operator doing anything, and a single release drops the locks on descent — one control, both columns. That matters more than it sounds: a lock system needing two hands and two trips around the vehicle is one people work around. Equalizer cables are aircraft-quality and the sheave diameter is oversized to reduce fatigue. A padded overhead shutoff bar stops the lift if a vehicle contacts it, and the self-lubricating UHMW polyethylene bearing system is one fewer maintenance item.
Perfect For
- Shops taking on EV work, where mass and outboard lift points make arm reach and restraint the limiting factors.
- General repair bays with tall ceilings — the extended height only pays if you have the room for it.
- Truck, van and fleet service needing 12,000 lbs. and a drive-thru wide enough to work around.
- Collection garages where a low car has to clear the arms without touching them.

Weight is not listed here on purpose. Our product record stores an overall weight for this lift that is identical to its 12,000 lbs. lifting capacity, which is plainly a copied field rather than a measured shipping weight. Rather than repeat a figure we can see is wrong, we quote freight live at checkout and will confirm the real crated weight against the factory sheet if you need it for a lift plan.
Certification, stated honestly
The product data we hold for this lift makes no third-party safety certification claim, and we will not imply one. That is documentation rather than a judgement about the engineering — but a vehicle held only by four arms is exactly the equipment class insurers, fleet safety policies and local inspection regimes write rules about. If a specific North American third-party lift safety listing is required by your insurer, your jurisdiction or a manufacturer you are certified to service, send us the wording and we will check it against BendPak's documentation before you order.
Shipping and delivery
Freight only, to the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout for your address. A lift of this height ships as long, heavy columns on a pallet and you need to unload it: forklift, dock or a rigger booked in advance. Terminal pickup is a perfectly good alternative. Residential delivery is available and carries a fee. Warehouse pickup is offered, and the BendPak locations are listed further down this page.
Inspect the shipment before you sign anything, and note damage on the bill of lading while the driver is present. Once a clean bill of lading is signed, a freight claim becomes very difficult to win. Photograph anything that looks wrong at the truck.
Warranty and installation
BendPak publishes one warranty document covering its full product line rather than a per-model term; we will send the current copy on request. Keep your installation records — on a two-post lift, correct anchoring into suitable concrete is part of the product working as intended — and do not disassemble a component you intend to claim on.
