Three published rise figures, because how high it goes depends on what you stack on the arms

Most two-post lifts are sold on one rise number. BendPak publishes three for the 10APX, and the difference between them is nearly a foot and a half of working height. Rise at the arms is 75 in. (1,905 mm). With the screw pads fitted it is 79.5 in. (2,007 mm). With the pad plus the 63 mm adapter it reaches 89 in. (2,261 mm). If you are six foot two and tired of stooping under a sill, that third figure is the one that decides whether this lift is comfortable, and it is the one nobody quotes. The 14-piece standard adapter set that ships with this model is what gets you there.

The rest is a 10,000 lbs. (4,536 kg) two-post lift from BendPak's AP series: expandable top beam, Bi-Metric triple-telescoping arms, forged-steel automatic arm restraints, and oversized 53 in. and 59 in. tall carriages riding in the columns.

Capacity is not only a total — check the axles

This model publishes a per-axle limit as well as a total: 5,000 lbs. (2,268 kg) front and 5,000 lbs. (2,268 kg) rear. A nose-heavy truck can breach one of those while the total still looks comfortable, and the per-arm limit of 2,500 lbs. (1,134 kg) is the same argument one level down. Distribution, not just gross weight, is what a two-post lift cares about.

Two figures our sources disagree on, and one we cannot source

These are shown as we hold them rather than resolved for you, because on a lift this size a guessed number is worse than an open question.

Measurement Where it comes from Value
Overall height BendPak published specification, line E 157 in. (3,988 mm)
Overall height The description currently on this page 181 in.
Rise (line A) BendPak published specification 75 in. (1,905 mm)
Max rise under the arms A separate field in our catalogue record 71 in.

The height one is the one to take seriously: it is the difference between a lift that clears your ceiling and a lift that does not, and 181 in. is also the published height of a different model in this family. Do not order this lift against either figure until we have confirmed it in writing. Ask us and we will get the answer from the manufacturer rather than quote whichever of our own fields is more convenient. Our record also lists a shipping weight of 1902 lbs, which does not appear on the manufacturer's specification sheet for this model — treat it as indicative for planning your offload, not as a certified figure.

Will It Fit?

  • Width. Two of everything, because the beam is expandable: overall 135 in. (3,429 mm) or 145 in. (3,683 mm), outside columns 127 in. (3,226 mm) or 137 in. (3,480 mm), inside columns 108.25 in. (2,750 mm) or 118.25 in. (3,004 mm).
  • Drive-through. 92 in. (2,337 mm) in the narrow configuration, 102 in. (2,591 mm) in the wide one. This choice is made at installation and is not something you change later on a whim.
  • Low cars. Minimum height with the pad is 4 in. (102 mm).
  • Ceiling. See the disclosure above before you measure anything.
  • Power. 220 VAC, 60 Hz, 1 Ph. Noise in operation is under 70 dB, which is quiet enough for a bay next to a customer waiting area.

Bay width, ceiling height and the electrical circuit are yours to confirm before ordering. Our record states no concrete thickness or strength requirement for this model. A two-post lift puts its entire load into the anchors, so the slab is not a detail — the installation manual linked on this page carries the figure and we will confirm it on request.

Arms that reach in as well as out

The Bi-Metric arm set covers symmetric and asymmetric positioning without swapping arms, so a low coupe and a crew-cab pickup can follow each other onto the same lift. Front arms retract to 22 in. (559 mm) and extend to 47.5 in. (1,207 mm); rears run 29.5 in. (749 mm) to 57 in. (1,448 mm). The triple-telescoping design earns the short figure by letting the inner tube pass back through the arm assembly instead of stopping at an end plate. Low-Pro arms add a shorter channel and a dropped-end pad receiver for lowered chassis, where the risk is a side skirt rather than the lift.

Screw pad adjustment is 2 in. (51 mm), so the last bit of levelling is done by hand at the pad rather than by hunting for a different adapter.

What holds the arms, and what holds the carriage

BendPak's Automatic Swing Arm Restraint System is forged steel and engages on its own as the lift rises, holding each arm against more than 2000 pounds of side force. That figure exists for a specific moment: the one where a heavy component comes off an elevated vehicle and the balance shifts across arms that are extended a long way out. Safety locks in each column are spaced every 3 in., engage automatically on the way up, and release together from a single point on the way down. Equalizing cables are heavy-duty 1/2 in. aircraft-quality, running on oversized sheaves — a larger sheave bends the cable less sharply and buys service life that never appears in a sales comparison.

Perfect For

  • Independent repair shops doing mixed passenger and light-truck work all day.
  • Tall technicians and full-service bays where the adapter-assisted rise figure genuinely changes the working day.
  • Dealership and fleet bays that need asymmetric access on one car and symmetric on the next.
  • Home garages with the ceiling and slab for it, once the height question above is settled.

What's in the Box

From the manufacturer's own feature list: four triple-telescoping Low-Pro swing arms, a 14-piece standard adapter set, double-telescoping screw pads, the padded overhead safety shutoff bar, expandable top beam hardware, the automatic arm restraints, heavy-duty 1/2 in. equalizer cables with oversized sheaves, and the electric/hydraulic power unit with dual direct-drive cylinders. Anchors and anything not listed here should not be assumed to be in the crate.

Certification, stated plainly

BendPak's feature list states this lift is ALI certified — a third-party assessment against the North American lift safety standard, which is a materially different document from a manufacturer's own declaration of conformity. Insurers, fleet policies and local inspectors that ask for it generally want paperwork tied to the model and serial number rather than a claim on a product page; ask and we will obtain it before you order.

Shipping and Delivery

Freight only, to the lower 48 states. This is a long, heavy crate; our record puts it near 1902 lbs, and the qualification above applies. Arrange a forklift, a dock or enough equipment and hands to unload before the truck arrives, or choose terminal pickup and bring the right vehicle. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, quoted live at checkout alongside the freight charge.

Inspect before signing. Check the crate for punctures, crushed corners and shifted banding, and write anything you find on the bill of lading while the driver is still there. Signing a clean bill of lading says the goods arrived intact, and reversing that later is difficult. Photograph the crate on the tailgate.

Warranty and Service

BendPak's full warranty document is linked on this page and governs the terms. Our record does not restate a warranty period for this model, so we will not paraphrase one. Whatever the terms say: do not disassemble a component before making a claim, because a stripped part is usually treated as a modified part and the claim ends there. Keep the manual with the lift, along with the anchor torque record and the date it was first put into service.
