Atlas TC755 Tilt-Back Rim-Clamp Tire Changer with Dual Assist Arms

The thing that defines this machine is what happens to the column when you press the foot pedal: it tilts back, away from the turntable, and takes the mount/demount head with it. On a swing-arm changer you are always working around a column that stays put. Here the obstruction physically leaves, so a wheel goes on and comes off the table without an arm to swing clear or a column to catch a rim against.

Add the DAA-T dual assist arm package — a left arm carrying a pressing block and a pressing/lifting disk, a right arm carrying a pressing/lifting disk and a bead roller — and you have a machine built for the workload that breaks lesser changers: stiff sidewalls, low profiles and run-flats, all day, with one operator.

Will It Fit — and What Do You Need to Have Ready?

  • Air, with a ceiling. The jaws and bead breaker are air-operated from an external supply, and Atlas specifies 90–110 PSI for normal operation with a hard limit that must not exceed 140 PSI. That upper figure is a damage limit, not a performance target — regulate the feed properly rather than running the machine straight off an unregulated line.
  • Power. 110 volt operation with a 1 HP table motor, so a standard single-phase shop circuit.
  • Unloading. 1000 lbs shipping weight. This is a forklift or a dock job, not a four-people-and-a-ramp job.
  • Assembly. The TC755 requires some assembly after purchase. It does not arrive as one finished machine you plug in, and budgeting a few hours for that is more honest than discovering it on a Saturday.

Checking your air pressure, your regulator, your circuit and your unloading arrangement is the customer's responsibility before the shipment is booked.

The Locking Head, and Why It Is the Feature That Saves Rims

Because the column tilts, the head has to be repositioned every cycle — and a head that can move is a head that can move at the wrong moment. The TC755 locks its mount/demount head pneumatically once positioned. That matters because the failure it prevents is expensive and invisible until it happens: a head that creeps a few thousandths under load while a hardened bead is being levered over it will score the rim flange, and on a chrome or polished wheel that is a replacement, not a polish.

The head itself is metal, with replaceable plastic inserts and a metal roller option, and spare inserts come with the machine. Metal head, plastic contact surface, cheap consumable — that is the arrangement that lets a shop protect alloys without giving up strength on a stubborn truck tire.

The Turntable: Why 26" Rims Do Not Need Adapters

The TC755 uses an extra-large turntable, and the practical consequence is that it clamps most 26 inch chrome rims directly, with no adapter set involved. Anyone who has tried to run oversize alloys on an undersized table knows why that matters — adapters add height, add setup time and add another surface to mark a rim against.

The jaws are adjustable across three mounting positions along the turntable slides. Moving them in tightens the clamping range for small rims; moving them out opens it for the oversize end. It is a five-minute change and it is what lets one machine cover a passenger-car morning and a light-truck afternoon.

Bead Breaker and Beadblaster

The bead breaker develops 5,500 lb of force and is operated from a button at the blade rather than from across the machine — so the operator's eyes are on the bead at the moment force is applied, which is exactly where they should be on a rusted, seized bead. The turntable itself delivers 885 ft/lbs of rotating torque, and the jaws take plastic covers to hold a rim securely without marking its surface.

Inflation is handled by the built-in Beadblaster system, which delivers a burst of air to seat stiff sidewall and hard-to-inflate tires. Having that on the machine rather than as a separate tank alongside it is one of the reasons the TC755 works as a single-operator station.

Perfect For

  • Professional tire dealers doing volume, where tilt-back plus dual arms is a genuine cycle-time difference rather than a comfort feature.
  • Large car dealerships handling factory alloys under warranty, where a marked rim is a chargeback.
  • Performance and off-road shops living on low-profile and stiff-sidewall rubber.
  • Multi-bay general repair shops bringing tire work back in-house.

What's in the Box

  • Column-mounted inflator box with gauge
  • Filter / regulator / lubricator

Certification, Stated Plainly

There is no independent third-party safety listing published for this changer, and we would rather say so than let a badge be inferred. The distinction that matters is between an outside laboratory auditing the design and the factory, and a manufacturer declaring conformity itself — this machine is sold on the manufacturer's own specification.

In practice, wheel-service equipment sits outside the listing schemes written for vehicle lifts, so for the great majority of shops this changes nothing. It becomes relevant if an insurer, a fleet or government contract, or a workplace safety inspector asks for documentation on compressed-air equipment and guarded rotating machinery. If that is your situation, ask us before ordering and we will send you what the manufacturer publishes.

Shipping and Delivery

Freight only, lower 48 states. Your freight price is generated live at checkout for your own address, which is why it is not printed anywhere on this page — a number baked into copy goes stale and turns into an argument later.

The part buyers underestimate is the unload. Freight delivery means the carrier gets the crate to your address on a trailer and stops there. You are responsible for taking it off, so line up a forklift or a dock in advance, or choose terminal pickup and collect it with your own truck and trailer. Delivery to a home address is available and carries a residential fee.

Inspect the crate with the driver still present. Photograph any damage, note it in writing on the bill of lading, and only then sign. Signing clean and finding a bent column the next morning is the one scenario where a freight claim becomes almost impossible to win.

Warranty

Atlas covers the TC755 for 1 year, parts only, and covers the dual assist arm package on the same terms. Parts-only means the replacement component is supplied and the labour to fit it is yours — reasonable on a machine whose serviceable items are inserts, seals and pneumatic fittings, but worth knowing rather than assuming.

If something does fail, leave it assembled. Photograph the fault where it sits, write down what the machine was doing, and contact us before anything is taken apart. Parts that arrive already stripped have lost the evidence the claim depends on, and that is the single most common reason a legitimate warranty claim is turned down. Atlas keeps replacement parts and wear items in stock for this range, so most issues are a parts order rather than a downtime event.
