Atlas Platinum PVL14 + RJ7000: the jacks are certified too, not just the lift

Plenty of four-post lifts carry a third-party safety certification. Far fewer packages extend it to the rolling bridge jacks that go on top of them — and the jack is the component actually holding the vehicle the moment a wheel comes off. This combination pairs an ALI certified Atlas Platinum PVL14 four-post lift with two ALI certified Platinum RJ7000 rolling bridge jacks. If you are buying into a shop, a fleet or a jurisdiction where that certification is checked, the jacks are usually where a package quietly stops qualifying.

Underneath the certification it is a heavy-duty commercial four-post rated at 14,000 lbs, extra tall, extra wide and extra long, built for cars, vans, SUVs, trucks and some light and medium duty commercial vehicles.

Will It Fit?

Four-post lifts fail on measurement far more often than on capacity. Take these to the building before you take them to a purchase order.

  • Floor length. 255" overall with the approach ramp — 21' 3". That is the number that decides whether the bay works, and the ramp does not fold away.
  • Floor width. Overall width across the columns is 130 7/8" without the motor and 138 7/8" with it — call it 11' 6 7/8" at the widest, and add room to walk and open doors.
  • Ceiling. Column height is 91 1/8" (7' 7 1/8") and lifting height at the runway is 80" (6' 8"). Your roof has to clear the columns plus the tallest vehicle you will raise, plus standing room underneath.
  • Drive-through. 102 1/8" (8' 6 1/8"). Clearance between the columns is 116" (9' 8"). Measure the widest vehicle, mirrors included.
  • Wheelbase. Maximum 197" (16' 5"). Runways are 20" wide and 208 5/8" long (17' 4 5/8"), sitting 46 7/8" apart, or 44 3/8" between the rails.
  • Under-runway clearance. 71 1/4" (5' 11 1/4") — what you actually get to work in when the lift is up.
  • Concrete. A minimum of 6" at a 3000 psi rating. Verify it; do not assume it.
  • Power. 220 volt single phase, with a 30 amp breaker recommended.
  • Air. 85-115 PSI, and the external air supply is not supplied. The lock release and the jacks both depend on it.
  • Oil. 3-5 gallons of AW32 or AW46, not included.

Checking the slab, the ceiling, the circuit and the compressor is the buyer's responsibility. Ask us with your bay dimensions before you order — it is a short conversation and it prevents an expensive one.

Cable and a single buried cylinder, instead of chains in the open

The PVL14 raises on a high-strength cable system driven by one oversized hydraulic cylinder mounted underneath the runway. Two things follow from that, and both are about the working day rather than the spec sheet.

The first is levelling. A design that lifts on chains has to keep four corners in step through the chain runs, and chains stretch unevenly with age; a cable-and-sheave system with a single cylinder driving it keeps the geometry consistent for far longer, which is why an older chain lift is usually the one that needs shimming and fettling. The second is more mundane and more annoying: an exposed cylinder standing in the middle of a bay is what car doors hit. Putting it under the runway removes the obstacle from exactly the space a technician walks through with a door open.

The power unit driving it is an ALLY Hydraulic AL2650, certified by MET Laboratories Inc. for electrical compliance in the United States and Canada, and covered on its own 2 yr term rather than being lumped in with the hydraulics.

What the rolling bridge jacks add

A four-post holds a vehicle by its tires, which is what you want for storage and for anything measured at ride height, and precisely what you do not want when a wheel has to come off. The RJ7000 jacks bridge the runways and pick the vehicle up by its frame, so the wheels hang clear while the vehicle stays on the lift.

They are air/hydraulic, roll along the runways, use a scissor mechanism so the load rises level rather than tilting, carry two safety lock positions, and come with double screw-up adapters for frames that need extra reach. Two of them means front and rear can be up at once — the difference between a four-wheel brake job as one operation and as two.

Safety and finish

The lift uses an adjustable lock ladder design with a double lock safety system, released from a single air-operated point so all four corners come off together rather than being walked around individually. Steel approach ramps and mounting hardware are included, and the finish is a higher-grade powder coat — on a machine that will have wheels, jack stands and tools dragged over it for a decade, that is a durability decision as much as a cosmetic one.

Perfect For

  • Commercial service shops that need certified equipment on record, jacks included.
  • Fleet and municipal workshops running vans and light-to-medium duty commercial vehicles up to a 16' 5" wheelbase.
  • Tire and brake specialists, where two bridge jacks turn a wheels-off job into a single lift cycle.
  • Dealership service departments standardising on four-post lifts with documented certification.

What's in the Box

  • The Platinum PVL14 four-post lift with the ALLY premium power unit as standard
  • Steel approach ramps
  • Mounting hardware
  • Two Platinum rolling bridge jacks
  • Double screw-up adapters for the jacks

Not included: the external air supply, and the 3-5 gallons of AW32 or AW46 hydraulic oil.

Three places our data disagrees with itself

We would rather show you this than quietly pick a number. The specification tables lower down this page came from the manufacturer and they do not line up cleanly with the feature list.

What The feature list says The specification table says
Rolling jack model and capacity RJ7000, 7,000 lb. capacity Headed "RJ8000", maximum capacity 8,000 lbs.
Lift shipping weight 2,800 lbs. 3,100 lbs.
Lift model on the spec table Platinum PVL14 Headed "Atlas 414 Specifications"

The spec table also lists "length between columns" twice, at 197 1/4" and at 157 1/2". Our reading is that the jack table and part of the lift table were copied from a neighbouring model, but reading is not knowing. If the jack capacity, the crated weight or a specific column dimension decides your purchase, confirm it with us first — call, text or chat and we will check it against the factory document before anything ships. A discrepancy of that size in crated weight also changes how you plan to unload it.

Certification, honestly

Both the lift and the rolling bridge jacks are stated as ALI certified in the manufacturer's own feature list and copy. That is worth more than a badge on a marketing page: some commercial insurance policies, some fleet operations and some local jurisdictions require that certification by name before equipment can be put into service, and an uncertified jack on a certified lift can still fail an inspection. Verify your own requirement rather than taking any web page's word for it, ours included — then ask us and we will supply the documentation.

Shipping and delivery

Freight only, lower 48. The lift is crated at either 2,800 lbs or 3,100 lbs depending which of our two sources is right — see the note above — and the jacks add 390 lbs each. Either way you need a forklift rated for it, a loading dock, or a terminal pickup you collect yourself. Residential delivery carries a residential fee. Freight is quoted live at checkout rather than printed here, because carrier rates move and a figure typed into a description ages badly.

Inspect everything before you sign. Columns, runways, ramps, the power unit carton and both jacks — corners, banding and wrap, with the driver still standing there. Note damage on the bill of lading before you sign. A clean signature is a statement that it all arrived intact, and reversing that is difficult.

Warranty

  • Lift: 5 yr structural, 2 yr hydraulic, 2 yr power unit
  • Rolling bridge jacks: 1 year parts only

All of it is parts-only cover: the component is supplied, the labour to fit it is not. The separate power unit term is the useful one, because the power unit is the part that works hardest on a lift used every day.

Do not disassemble the lift, a jack or the power unit before a claim is agreed. Photograph the fault, contact us, and let the claim run — a stripped assembly is where most warranty conversations end.

Atlas Platinum PVL14 4-Post Lift + RJ7000 Rolling Bridge Jacks ALI Certified Combo

The Atlas® Platinum PVL14 is a four post commercial grade Heavy-Duty lift designed with the professional shop in mind. This lift can accommodate a variety of cars, vans, SUVs, trucks, and even some light & medium duty commercial vehicles.

The Platinum PVL14 uses a high strength cable system (with an under runway oversized hydraulic cylinder) powered by a 220 volt (single phase) power unit to raise and lower the lift. Many competitors use an “old style” chain lifting system with an exposed hydraulic cylinder system. Old style chain lifts are difficult to “level” properly and the exposed hydraulic cylinder is responsible for numerous “door dings.”

The Atlas® Platinum PVL14 is also ALI certified and backed by one of the industry’s best warranties for added peace of mind.

This product features an ALLY Hydraulic AL2650 power unit. This premium power unit is certified by MET Laboratories Inc. for electrical compliance in the United States and Canada. Extra heavy-duty armatures and more motor windings with increased silver metal included in the wires and connections create far less heat generation and allow ALLY Hydraulic power units to maintain constant torque through the lifting process. This power unit also carries an industry leading two-year limited warranty.

This combo package also includes two of the popular ALI Certified Atlas® Platinum RJ7000 Rolling bridge jacks. The jacks are perfect for raising a vehicle’s wheels off the lift’s runways in order to service tires and brakes.
