Atlas Platinum PTC300 Tire Changer and PWB50 Wheel Balancer Package

This package is a complete tire bay — a rim-clamp swing arm changer and a computerized spin balancer — and the fact that decides whether it suits your building is that both machines run on 110volt power. A tire bay that does not require a new high-voltage circuit is a tire bay you can commission in the space you already have, on the wiring you already have. For an established shop adding a second bay, or a growing business fitting out leased premises, that is usually a larger saving than any single feature on either machine.

Both units are CE approved and both carry the Atlas Platinum 2 year parts only warranty.

PTC300 — a swing arm changer with real bead-breaking help

The PTC300 clamps externally from 10" to 24" and internally from 12" to 26", taking tires up to 43" in diameter and up to 15" wide at the bead breaker. Turntable speed is 7 RPM, and the turntable itself is an extra-large star shape, which spreads the clamping load across the rim rather than concentrating it in a small contact area.

Bead breaking is where a changer earns its keep, and there are two systems here. The bead breaker develops 6,924 LB of force, and the machine also carries a built-in Beadblaster — a burst of stored air released at the bead to seat a stubborn low-profile or run-flat tire that will not take air conventionally.

The left-hand assist arm with a pressing/lifting disc and pressing block is the feature to look for if your work includes modern low-profile fitments. It holds the bead down while the mount/demount head does its job, which is what stops a stiff sidewall springing back out of the drop center.

Air comes from an external supply at 120-145 PSI, and an oiler, filter and regulator are included so the machine's air is conditioned rather than raw. Plastic protectors are supplied for alloy rims.

PWB50 — computerized balancing, with the setup automated

The PWB50 is a computer-controlled spin balancer handling rim sizes from 10" to 30" on cars and light trucks, rim widths from 1 1/2" to 20", tires up to 43" in diameter and wheels up to 165 lbs, on a 40mm shaft. Balancing speed is 130 RPM and a cycle takes 7 seconds.

The feature that matters most day-to-day is automatic 2D data entry. On a manual balancer the operator measures rim distance and diameter and types them in, and every mis-entry produces a wheel that reads balanced and is not.

Beyond plain static and dynamic modes the PWB50 carries Optimatch, FES (Split) and OPF (Opposite Position). Optimatch works out how far to rotate the tire on the rim so the two components' imbalances partly cancel — the fix for a wheel that needs an embarrassing amount of lead. FES splits a weight in two and hides both halves behind the spokes on an alloy that must not show a weight. OPF places a correction at the opposite position. These are the functions that let you finish an awkward wheel properly instead of adding more weight to it.

Weight position resolution is 1.4 Degrees, accuracy is 1 gram, and the readout can be set to grams or ounces and to millimeters or inches.

Will It Fit?

  • Power. Both machines operate on 110volt. Give each one its own dedicated circuit rather than sharing a wall socket — a balancer's motor and a changer's motor starting on the same run is exactly how nuisance trips begin.
  • Air. The changer needs an external air supply at 120-145 PSI, and the Beadblaster draws a large, brief volume. A compressor that just keeps up with an impact wrench will not keep up with bead seating on a busy day.
  • Floor and space. Concrete condition and anchoring are the customer's responsibility. Both machines want flat, sound concrete, and the changer needs clearance for the swing arm and the assist arm to travel — measure the arc, not just the footprint. The manuals linked on this page govern mounting and clearances.
  • Weight. The changer ships at 620 lbs and the balancer at 230 lbs.

Perfect For

  • Commercial car repair shops adding tire service in-house instead of sending wheels out.
  • High-volume tire shops — the changer's assist arm and the balancer's automatic data entry both exist to hold quality steady when the pace rises.
  • Shops in leased or older buildings where 110volt operation avoids an electrical upgrade.
  • Alloy and low-profile work — the plastic protectors, the assist arm and the balancer's split-weight function are all aimed at wheels a customer inspects closely.

Certification — what the CE mark means, and what it does not

Both machines in this package are CE approved, and it is worth being precise about what that tells you. A CE mark is the manufacturer's own declaration that the product conforms to the applicable European directives. It is a self-declaration backed by the maker's technical file — it is not a certificate issued by an independent North American testing house, and it is not a substitute for one.

For most private and commercial buyers in the United States that distinction never comes up. It comes up when an insurer, a fleet policy, a landlord or a local inspector specifically requires equipment listed by an independent North American body, and asks to see that listing rather than a conformity mark. If that is part of your purchasing process, tell us before you order and we will go back to the manufacturer for the current documentation rather than let a mark on a page stand in for an answer.

Shipping and delivery

Both machines ship as freight within the lower 48, and freight is quoted live at checkout against the address you enter, so what you see is a current rate rather than an estimate baked into the page.

Plan the unload. The changer is 620 lbs and the balancer 230 lbs, so this is a forklift delivery, not a two-person lift off a tailboard. If you have no forklift and no one to operate it, take terminal pickup and collect the crates with your own equipment. Residential delivery is available and carries a residential fee — declare a home address at checkout so the shipment is booked on the right service the first time.

Inspect before you sign. Two machines means two crates and several accessory cartons, and the cartons are where the cones, pliers, calipers and inflation box travel. Check every piece against the packing list and write any damage, shortage or crushing onto the bill of lading in front of the driver. Signing clean is the carrier's evidence that everything arrived complete and intact, and reopening it later is a much harder argument.

Warranty

Both the PTC300 and the PWB50 carry the Atlas Platinum 2 year parts only warranty. Parts only means the covered component is supplied; labor, freight and any equipment needed to fit it are the owner's cost.

The rule that protects a claim on either machine: do not disassemble a component before the claim is approved. An opened air valve, motor or control board is generally treated as no longer inspectable, and a claim that would have been honored can be refused for that alone. Photograph the fault, note what the machine was doing when it appeared, call us, and let the claim be opened first.
