Description
-Atlas OHX10000X: Built Tall, for Tall Vehicles and Tall Operators
This is a 10,000 lb commercial two-post lift whose entire design argument is height. The columns are one-piece formed steel at 12 ft 7 in, the cylinders are longer than those on a standard overhead lift, and the result is that a vehicle can be raised approximately 3 inches higher than most comparable models. For anyone over 6 feet tall who spends a shift under vehicles, three inches is not a specification — it is the difference between standing upright and working with your neck bent.
The same height buys clearance for the vehicles as well as the operator. Tall cargo vans, ladder trucks and box bodies that will not fit under a standard overhead crossbeam go under this one.
Will It Fit? Start With the Ceiling
Height is the reason to buy this lift and it is also the reason not to. Be honest about the building before anything else.
- Ceiling: a minimum of 13 feet is required. Overall height is 152" (12' 8"). Measure to the lowest obstruction over the bay — lights, door tracks, heaters, ductwork, sprinkler heads — not to the highest point of the roof. If your building cannot give you 13 feet clear, this is the wrong lift and a shorter overhead or a base-plate design is the right conversation.
- Floor width: 144 3/8" (12' 3/8") overall, with 136" (11' 4") outside column to outside column.
- Between the columns: 118 1/4" (9' 10 1/4"), with a drive-through of 106 7/8" (8' 10 7/8") — which is the figure that decides whether a wide-bodied van can be driven in.
- Rise: 74 3/4" without adapters, 85 3/4" with them, and a minimum arm height of 4 1/2" for low vehicles.
- Concrete: a minimum of 4" rated at 3000 psi. Verifying the slab — thickness, strength, age and condition — is the buyer's responsibility and it is the one part of a two-post installation that cannot be worked around. Core test before you commit, not after.
- Power: 220V single phase, with a 30A breaker recommended. Get the circuit confirmed by an electrician before delivery.
- Oil: 3-5 gallons of AW32 or AW46, not included. Buy it alongside the lift so the installer is not waiting on fluid.
Where the Strength Is
The columns are one-piece formed steel rather than welded sections, in 5mm material at 9 1/8" by 11", on a base of 18 1/2" by 21 1/2". A one-piece column has no weld line running through the region that carries the carriage load, which is the difference that shows up over years of cycling rather than on day one. The carriage itself is extra-long, and that length is what spreads the load into the column and keeps both the column and the arms working within themselves under an off-centre vehicle.
Lifting is by dual direct-drive cylinders. Direct drive means the cylinder acts on the carriage rather than through a chain multiplier, so there is less in the load path to stretch, wear or need adjusting.
Details You Use Every Day
Arms are symmetric, with automatic arm restraints that engage as the arms take load so an arm cannot swing out from under a pad. The single point lock release disengages both columns from one position instead of sending the operator around the vehicle. Carriages carry rubber covers and there is a padded shut-off bar overhead — the bar stops the lift when a vehicle contacts it, and the padding is there because at this height it will be contacted eventually.
Perfect For
- Large-scale service centres working on a mix from compact cars to one-ton diesel trucks.
- Fleet and commercial shops running tall vans, box bodies and ladder trucks.
- Shops with tall technicians, where the extra rise is a daily working-comfort issue rather than a specification.
- Dedicated home users with genuine 13 foot clearance and 220V service.
What Is Included
The lift with symmetric arms, mounting hardware, and a 12 piece truck adapter set. Adapter heights are 2", 3" and 6", four of each, with an arm hole and adapter peg size of 1.5". Hydraulic oil is not included.

Certification, Honestly
The product data we hold for the OHX10000X claims no third-party lift safety listing, and we will not imply one it does not have. That is a statement about certification paperwork rather than about the lift's construction. It matters in practice because some commercial insurance policies, fleet operators and local jurisdictions specifically require lifting equipment carrying a recognized independent listing — if any of those govern your shop, establish the exact requirement in writing before you order.
Getting It to You
Read the pick-up and delivery section on this page before ordering. The manufacturer designates this part number as will call, which means it is collected from a warehouse rather than delivered by a freight carrier as a matter of course — an important detail on a 1,665 lb lift and one worth confirming with us for your address before you commit. Where a delivered option does apply, it ships as freight within the lower 48, you must be able to unload with a forklift or a dock (or collect from the carrier's terminal), and a residential address carries a residential fee that is quoted live at checkout rather than printed here. Either way, inspect the shipment before signing anything and note damage on the paperwork in front of whoever is releasing it — a clean signature on a damaged lift is extremely hard to undo.
Warranty
5 yr structural and 2 yr hydraulic, parts only. Parts only means components are supplied and labor is not, so allow for installation and service time separately. If a component fails within the term, contact us before dismantling it — a part that has already been taken apart is the most common reason a valid claim becomes a long argument.
