Atlas BP8000 Baseplate 2-Post Lift with Lawn Mower Adapter

The number that decides whether this lift is relevant to you is 108". That is the total column height — nine feet — and it is why the BP8000 goes into a garage with a ceiling as low as 9' 3" when almost every other two-post lift on the market does not. There is no overhead beam because the equalisation runs through a baseplate across the floor instead, and that one architectural choice is the whole product.

It is an open-top, hobbyist-grade lift rated at 8,000 lb, and it comes here bundled with the Atlas Lawn Mower Adapter so it can raise ATVs, UTVs and mowers as well as cars.

Will It Fit?

  • Ceiling. Columns are 108" (9'). A garage with 9' 3" of clear height will take this lift; that is the figure Atlas publishes and it is unusually specific, which is a good sign.
  • Floor width. 132" (11') overall floor width, 124" (10' 4") outside column to outside column, 109 1/8" (9' 1 1/8") inside the columns, and a 99" (8' 3") drive-through.
  • Reach. Minimum arm height 4", maximum lift height 75 1/2" without adapters and 86 1/2" with them.
  • Concrete. A minimum of 4" of concrete at a 3000 psi rating. On a baseplate lift the anchors are the only thing tying the load to your building — verify the slab rather than assuming it.
  • Power. 220 volt single phase, with a 30 amp breaker recommended.
  • Delivery. 1,300 lbs for the lift, plus 600 lbs for the adapter.

Ceiling height, slab specification, floor width and the electrical circuit are the customer's responsibility to confirm before ordering. The one thing a low-ceiling lift cannot fix is a floor that will not hold it.

Hobbyist Grade — Said Plainly

Atlas classifies the BP8000 as a hobbyist-grade lift and states it is not intended for heavy commercial use. We would rather put that in the second section than in the small print. It is not a criticism of the lift; it is a statement about duty cycle. A home or restoration shop raising a vehicle a few times a week is the use case it is engineered for. A production bay raising and lowering a lift twenty times a day is a different mechanical problem, and there are heavier Atlas lifts built for it.

Buy it for what it is and it is an excellent piece of equipment. Buy it for volume work and you will be disappointed by something you were told about in advance.

What You Get That Usually Costs More

The BP8000 carries several features from lifts well above it. Single-point lock release means both columns come off the locks together from one control — on a lift with independent releases the operator walks around the vehicle releasing each side in turn, and that asymmetry is a genuine safety consideration rather than an inconvenience. A double safety lock system gives a second independent engagement.

The arms are super-symmetric, three-stage at the front and two-stage at the rear. Front lifting points sit further inboard on most vehicles, so the front pair need more telescopic reach; building it only where it is needed keeps the rear arms shorter and stiffer. Automatic arm restraints lock the arms as the lift rises. Columns are 7 1/4" x 11" in 6mm steel, and lifting is by dual hydraulic chain-drive cylinders.

A twelve-piece truck adapter set is included — four each at 2", 3" and 6" — which on many competing lifts is an add-on line worth having on the quote before you compare prices.

The Lawn Mower Adapter

A two-post lift picks a vehicle up at four frame points. Mowers, ATVs and UTVs do not have frame points, so without an adapter the lift is simply the wrong shape for them. The Atlas LMA is two wheel platforms — four plates and all hardware — that mount along the length of the lift arms and give the machine somewhere flat to sit.

The platforms adjust in width to 8' 11" and handle wheelbases from 32" to 90", with a 12" wheel well width and 1/4" (2 gauge) steel. Capacity is up to 5,000 lbs, and Atlas is explicit that it varies: it is higher when the plates sit closer to the columns, and the weight distribution of what you are lifting matters. Longer wheelbases lower the effective capacity. The adapter is designed to fit a variety of lift sizes and brands but may not work with all lifts, and different positions on the arms may need blocks or shims to keep the platforms level. Buying it as this combo settles the fitment question against the BP8000; it does not remove the need to level it.

Perfect For

  • Home garages with a low ceiling — the specific problem this lift solves.
  • Restoration and hobby shops where a vehicle goes up and stays up.
  • Rural and small-holding workshops covering cars, ATVs and mowers on one lift.
  • Light commercial premises with occasional lifting needs rather than a production duty cycle.

What's in the Box

  • Both columns, baseplate, carriages, three-stage front and two-stage rear arms
  • A free 12 piece truck adapter set — four each at 2", 3" and 6"
  • Mounting hardware
  • The Lawn Mower Adapter: four plates and all hardware, forming two wheel platforms

Not included: hydraulic oil (3 to 5 gallons of AW32 or AW46), concrete anchors, and the electrical work.

Certification, Stated Plainly

Atlas publishes no independent third-party safety listing for the BP8000, and we are not going to imply otherwise. What a listing means is that an outside test laboratory validated the design and audits the factory building it, with the lift carrying that body's label; without it, you are buying against the manufacturer's own specification and rating.

For a home or hobby garage that is usually irrelevant. It stops being irrelevant if an insurer, a landlord, a fleet contract or a local building or workplace code names a listing as a condition — and it cannot be added afterwards. Establish the requirement before you order. If you need a listed lift, say so and we will show you which models qualify instead of selling you this one.

Shipping and Delivery

Freight only, lower 48 states. Your freight price is generated live at checkout for your own address, which is why it is not printed anywhere on this page — a number baked into copy goes stale and turns into an argument later.

The part buyers underestimate is the unload. Freight delivery means the carrier gets the crate to your address on a trailer and stops there. You are responsible for taking it off, so line up a forklift or a dock in advance, or choose terminal pickup and collect it with your own truck and trailer. Delivery to a home address is available and carries a residential fee.

Inspect the crate with the driver still present. Photograph any damage, note it in writing on the bill of lading, and only then sign. Signing clean and finding a bent column the next morning is the one scenario where a freight claim becomes almost impossible to win.

Warranty

Coverage is 5 years structural and 2 years hydraulic, parts only. Structural covers columns, carriages and arms; hydraulic covers the power unit, cylinders and related components. The part is supplied; the labour to fit it is yours.

Two habits protect the claim, and both are free. Install to specification and keep the evidence — the 4" of 3000 psi concrete is a warranty condition as well as a safety one, and damage traced back to a thin or weak slab is not a manufacturing defect. And do not disassemble a component you intend to claim on. Photograph it in place, stop using the lift, write down what happened, and call us before anything comes apart. A part that arrives already stripped cannot be assessed, and that is the commonest reason a genuinely valid claim is turned down.
