Atlas ATTD-412A + RJ6: slip plates that are level with the turntables because they were built that way

An alignment rack is a measuring instrument that happens to hold a car. Everything it tells you depends on the four contact patches sitting in a known plane, which is why the most consequential detail on the ATTD-412A is easy to skim past: the slip plates are built into the runways, not dropped into a recess, so they are level with the alignment turntables by construction rather than by adjustment. Nothing to shim, nothing to check, nothing to drift.

The second detail follows from it. The turntables can be set in different positions along the runway, so one rack can be squared up for a short-wheelbase car in the morning and a long-wheelbase truck in the afternoon without either of them sitting in a compromise. On a 12,000 lb commercial four-post with two RJ6 rolling jacks in the package, that is what you are actually buying.

Will It Fit?

This is a long lift. Check every line against the building before you order.

  • Floor length. 236 1/2" overall with the approach ramp — 19' 8 1/2". The runways alone are 194 1/2" (16' 2 1/2").
  • Floor width. Across the columns, 126 1/4" (10' 6 1/4") without the motor and 135 1/4" (11' 3 1/4") with it. Add walking and door-opening room on both sides.
  • Ceiling. Column height is 89 3/4" (7' 5 3/4") and lifting height at the top of the runway is 77 3/4" (6' 5 3/4"). Roof, lights, door tracks and heaters all have to clear the columns, plus the tallest vehicle, plus room to stand under it.
  • Working clearance. 70 1/4" (5' 10 1/4") under the runways when the lift is up.
  • Drive-through. 98" (8' 2"), with 112 5/8" (9' 4 5/8") of clearance between the columns. This is the measurement that most often catches people out.
  • Runways. 20" wide, 7 1/2" thick, 43 1/4" apart, or 39 3/4" between the rails, with 83 1/4" (6' 11 1/4") outside to outside. Length between the columns is 183 1/4" (15' 3 1/4").
  • Power. 220 volt, single phase, with a 30 amp breaker recommended.
  • Air. 85-115 PSI, and the external air supply is not included. Both the single-point lock release and the rolling jacks need it.
  • Oil. 3-5 gallons of AW32 or AW46, not supplied.
  • Concrete. Atlas publishes no slab thickness or PSI figure for this lift, and we will not invent one. Any four-post carrying 12,000 lbs plus the moment of a raised load needs a sound floor — ask us and ask your installer before you order.

Verifying the floor, the ceiling, the circuit and the compressor is the buyer's responsibility, and the concrete gap above is a real one worth closing before delivery rather than after.

Why a cable system and a hidden cylinder matter over ten years

The ATTD-412A lifts on a high-strength cable system driven by one oversized hydraulic cylinder mounted beneath the runway. The practical arguments are levelling and door clearance. Chain-driven designs have four corners kept in step by chain runs that stretch at their own rates, so an ageing chain lift is the one that needs levelling attention; a cable-and-sheave arrangement driven by a single cylinder holds its geometry longer. And a cylinder standing exposed in the middle of the bay is, sooner or later, what a car door meets. Putting it under the runway takes the obstacle out of the walkway.

The safety system is a lock ladder design with double locks, released from a single air-operated point rather than corner by corner, so all four disengage together. The finish is powder coat rather than paint — a decade of jack stands and dropped tools is the actual test.

The rolling jacks, and what two of them buy

A four-post holds a vehicle by its tires. That is exactly right for alignment work, where the suspension has to stay loaded at ride height, and exactly wrong the moment a wheel needs to come off. The two RJ6 jacks in this package bridge the runways and pick the vehicle up by its frame, taking the wheels clear while the car stays on the rack.

Each is rated at 6,000 lbs, is air/hydraulic (external air supply required), has multiple safety lock positions and a scissor mechanism so the load rises level rather than tipping, and includes a 4 piece truck adapter set. They adjust from 35" (2' 11") to 55" (4' 7") wide, span runway spacings from 32" to 50", and lift to 21" (1' 9") with the adapters fitted. Adapter heights are supplied at 2" and 3", two of each, on a 1.5" peg. Each jack crates at 350 lbs.

An alignment rack that is not only an alignment rack

Metal cover plates are included to replace the turntables when they are out, which converts the lift into an ordinary flat-deck commercial four-post for brakes, exhaust, general service and storage. That is the difference between a bay that earns whenever there is work and one that earns whenever there is an alignment booked, and it is the reason a general repair shop can justify an alignment rack at all.

Steel approach ramps and the mounting hardware come with it. Additional drive-off ramps and runway extensions exist as separate items if your work or your bay needs them.

Perfect For

  • Alignment and tire shops handling a wide range of wheelbases on one rack.
  • General repair shops adding alignment without surrendering a bay to it permanently.
  • Fleet and municipal workshops running vans and light trucks, where 12,000 lbs and a long runway leave headroom.
  • Dealership service departments needing wheels-free capability included rather than quoted separately.

What's in the Box

  • Built-in slip plates and alignment turntables, with multiple turntable positions
  • Runway cover plates, for use when the turntables are removed
  • Steel approach ramps
  • Mounting hardware
  • Two RJ6 rolling jacks with a 4 piece truck adapter set

Not included: the external air supply, the 3-5 gallons of AW32 or AW46 hydraulic oil, and the additional drive-off ramps and runway extensions, which are sold separately.

Certification, honestly

No third-party lift safety certification is claimed for this package in the data we hold, and this page does not imply one. That is a live question on a vehicle lift in a way it is not on other shop equipment: some commercial insurance policies, some fleet operations and some local jurisdictions require a North American third-party lift safety listing by name before equipment can be put into service, and a lift without it can fail an inspection regardless of how it is built. If that applies to you, verify the requirement before you buy — and ask us, because we would rather point you at a model in the range that carries the listing than sell you one that does not.

Shipping and delivery

Freight only, lower 48. The lift crates at 2,900 lbs and each jack at 350 lbs, so unloading needs planning: a forklift with the rating and reach, a loading dock, or a collection you make at the freight terminal. Delivery to a residential address carries a residential fee. We quote freight live at checkout instead of printing a figure here, because carrier rates move and a number set into a page eventually becomes an argument.

Inspect before signing. Columns, runways, ramps, the turntables and both jacks, with the driver present — corners, banding, wrap. Write any damage onto the bill of lading before you sign it. A clean signature says everything arrived undamaged, and that is very hard to unwind afterwards.

Warranty

  • Lift: 5 yr structural and 2 yr hydraulic, parts only
  • RJ6 rolling jacks: 1 year parts only

Parts only means the replacement component is covered and the labour to fit it is not — standard at this level of equipment, and better understood before something fails than after.

One rule protects the claim: do not disassemble the lift, a jack or the power unit before the claim is agreed. Photograph the fault, call us, and let the process run. A stripped assembly is usually where a warranty conversation ends.

Atlas ATTD-412A Alignment Lift + RJ6 Rolling Jacks Combo

The Atlas® 412A 12,000 pound capacity four post alignment lift is designed and built to commercial grade standards and will provide many years of service. Our Atlas® lifts offer many exclusive features not found on many other competitor’s lifts.

The Atlas® 412A incorporates many structural and cosmetic features that are found on lifts costing thousands of dollars more money. The 412A is tested to ensure that this lift system will perform flawlessly at its rated capacity.

The Atlas® 412A uses a high strength cable system (with a under runway oversized hydraulic cylinder) powered by a 220 volt (single phase) power unit to raise and lower the lift. Many competitors use an “old style” chain lifting system with an exposed hydraulic cylinder system. Old style chain lifts are difficult to “level” properly and the exposed hydraulic cylinder is responsible for numerous “door dings”.

Besides having all the heavy duty features of the Atlas® 412, the 412A features slip plates and alignment turntables. The slip plates are built in and are assured to be level with the turntables. The turntables can be set in different positions on the runway to accommodate a wide variety of wheelbases. The 412A also features metal cover plates to replace the turntables when not in use and so the lift can be used for more than just alignments.

This combo package also includes two of the popular Atlas® RJ6 rolling bridge jacks. The jacks are perfect for raising a vehicles wheels off the lifts runways in order to service tires and brakes.
