Atlas Alignment Wheel Stand & Turntable Package

This package exists to solve a floor-space problem, not a capability one. Plenty of shops can do alignment work; far fewer have room for a dedicated four-post alignment lift standing permanently in a bay. If what you own is a two-post or a mid-rise, these four steel wheel stands and four alignment turntables convert it into an alignment setup, and then stack in a corner when you need the floor back.

The detail that makes them work rather than merely exist is height. Atlas builds these stands taller than most wheel stands on the market — 39 1/2" — which puts the wheel at a sensible working height for hanging alignment sensors on. A short stand technically holds the car up; a tall one puts the wheel where the equipment and the technician both want it.

What You Actually Get

Four wheel stands and four turntables. The stands take 1,500 LB each, 6,000 LB across the set, on a 19.5" x 19.5" solid steel surface with .38" thick top steel plating. The turntables sit on top of the stands and provide the rotation and slip the front wheels need during a caster and camber sweep.

Put the two together and a two-post lift becomes, functionally, a four-post alignment lift with turntables and slip plates — without the four-post lift.

Will It Fit?

There is almost nothing to install here, which is the point, but three things are worth checking before you order.

  • Per-stand capacity is the real limit, not the total. 1,500 LB per stand is what governs. Vehicle weight is not distributed evenly across four corners — a front-heavy truck can put far more than a quarter of its mass on each front stand. Work out your heaviest realistic corner load, not your heaviest vehicle.
  • Working surface 19.5" x 19.5". That is the platform the tire sits on, and it is worth measuring against the widest tire you regularly work with.
  • Height 39 1/2". The stands raise the vehicle to that height, so your lift has to be able to place it there and your ceiling has to accommodate the vehicle at that level.

Checking your floor, your existing lift's reach and your working clearances is the customer's responsibility. One honest note while you do: Atlas publishes no floor or slab requirement for these stands, and we are not going to invent one. They are free-standing and not anchored, but they concentrate a substantial load on four small footprints. If your floor is anything other than sound, level concrete, ask us before you order.

Level Is the Entire Job

This is the part that separates wheel stands used properly from wheel stands used hopefully.

An alignment measures angles — fractions of a degree of camber, caster and toe. Every one of those readings is taken relative to the plane the four wheels are sitting on. If the four stands are not level with one another, that plane is tilted, and the machine will faithfully report the geometry of a vehicle sitting on a slope. The numbers will look plausible. They will be wrong, and the car will come back.

The Atlas stands are adjustable, so they can be levelled to each other, and that adjustment is what makes them alignment equipment rather than merely tall stands. Level them every time you set up on a different patch of floor. It takes a few minutes and it is the difference between an alignment and a guess.

Turntables, Slip and the Rest of the Work

The turntables let the front wheels rotate and slide as the steering is swept, which is how caster is measured at all. Locked to the floor, a tire fights the sweep and loads the suspension bushings, which changes the very geometry you are trying to read.

Beyond alignment, the stands earn their keep on ordinary undercar work. With the vehicle sitting on its wheels at 39 1/2", the suspension is loaded exactly as it is on the road, which is the correct state for tightening suspension bushings, checking ride height, or diagnosing a noise that only appears under load. It is also a comfortable height for exhaust work. Your two-post lift's arms remain free to raise the vehicle off the stands for run-out compensation or to make an adjustment, then set it back down.

Perfect For

  • Shops with two-post or mid-rise lifts and no room for a dedicated alignment bay.
  • General service shops adding alignment as an occasional service rather than a daily one.
  • Suspension and exhaust work, where the vehicle needs to be at working height with the suspension loaded.
  • Restoration and enthusiast garages setting up a car's geometry properly after suspension work.

Certification, Stated Plainly

Atlas publishes no independent third-party safety listing for these stands, and we will not imply one. The distinction is between an outside laboratory testing a design against a published standard and auditing the plant that builds it, and a manufacturer stating conformity on its own authority. These are sold on the second basis.

One point of substance that matters more than the paperwork: wheel stands are not a lift and are not a substitute for jack stands. The vehicle is raised by your lift and set onto them. Nobody should be underneath a vehicle supported only by wheel stands, and if an insurer, a landlord or a contract customer has written rules about supporting vehicles in your workshop, check them before you buy rather than after.

Shipping and Delivery

Ships by freight carrier within the lower 48. Freight is quoted live at checkout for your actual destination, so the figure is yours rather than an average.

Delivery is curbside and unloading is the buyer's responsibility. Four steel stands and four turntables are not a hand-carry job off a truck bed — arrange a pallet jack, a forklift or a dock, or select terminal pickup and collect the pallet yourself. A residential address rather than a commercial one carries a residential fee.

Check the pallet before you sign for it. Photograph anything that looks wrong, write the damage onto the bill of lading with the driver present, and keep your copy. That note is what makes a claim straightforward.

Warranty

We will not state a warranty term for this package, because Atlas does not publish one in the material we hold for it — and a warranty is exactly the kind of thing nobody should be guessing at on your behalf. Ask us before you order and we will confirm the coverage in writing.

If something does arrive wrong or fail, photograph it as it is and call us before you modify, cut or re-drill anything. On simple steel equipment the temptation is to fix it yourself in ten minutes; doing so is also the quickest way to end a claim.
