Rolling bridge jacks are returned for one reason more than all the others combined: they do not span the runways of the lift they were bought for. The RJ8000 rides on expandable rail supports, and the range they cover is published rather than implied — 33 inches to 53 inches between runways, with the jack itself going from 40 inches wide to 68 inches. Take a tape to the inside gap between your runways, at both ends, and compare. That one measurement will tell you more than any amount of description.
Within that span it is an 8,000 lbs air-over-hydraulic jack with telescoping arms that reach out over the runways, a roller system that lets it glide the length of the vehicle, and two mechanical lock positions. It is the accessory that converts a four-post lift from something that holds a car up into something you can take wheels off.
Will It Fit?
- Between the runways: 33 inches to 53 inches. This is the go/no-go measurement.
- Its own width: minimum 40 inches, maximum 68 inches.
- Air: designed for delivered air pressure up to 115 PSI. The manufacturer's warning on this page is unusually direct and we are not going to soften it: exceed 115 PSI and you may damage the jack. Set your regulator, and check it at the jack rather than at the tank.
- Adapters: peg-style truck adapters are supplied, two each at 2 inches and 3 inches, on an arm hole and peg size of 1.5 inches. Those are what raise the pads to reach the lifting points on a pickup or a taller truck that does not sit like a saloon.
- Delivery weight: 390 lbs, crated.
- Height, both raised and lowered: read the next section before you rely on either.
Confirming the runway span and the clearance under your vehicles is the buyer's responsibility. Send us the make, model and inside runway measurement of your four-post lift and we will confirm the fit in writing before you order.
Two things about the height figures that you should know before you order
We would rather print this than have you find it.
Our specification table lists the same figure twice under two different labels. A height of 27 inches appears once as an overall height and once as a lifting height at the top of the pad. Atlas publishes that figure as the maximum lifting height with adapters, and publishes no separate overall height at all. On the evidence we hold, our "overall height" row is a mislabel of the same measurement rather than a second, independent one — but we are not going to quietly delete a row and present the result as verified. Treat 27 inches as the maximum reach with adapters fitted, and treat the duplicate label as unresolved.
We do not publish a lowered height for this jack at all, and on a rolling bridge jack that is arguably the more important of the two numbers: it is what decides whether the jack rolls under the vehicle while the vehicle is sitting on the runways. A figure for it circulates on other listings of a differently configured earlier RJ-8000, alongside width and lift-height figures that do not match the part we sell, so we are not going to repeat it here as though it applied to this one.
If either height decides your purchase, ask us in writing before you order and we will get both figures for this exact part number from Atlas. One further reason to ask: our stored data carries this product under both RJ8000 and a longer BK part number, and part-number drift is exactly how the wrong dimension ends up on the wrong listing.
Telescoping arms, and why the reach is over the runway
The arms extend outward across the runways so the pads land on the vehicle's lifting points, which on most cars sit over or outside the runway rather than in the gap between them. A jack whose pads only reach the middle of the car is a jack that will lift something — just not the point the manufacturer designed to be lifted. The rail supports underneath carry a roller system so the whole assembly slides along the length of the lift rather than being lifted and repositioned, which is the difference between moving to the rear axle and dismantling the setup to move to the rear axle.
The locks, and what "the pressure is eliminated" means
Two solid locking positions hold the load when the vehicle is to be suspended above the runways. Once engaged, the hydraulic pressure in the lifting cylinder is taken out of the equation entirely and the load rests on steel. The manufacturer's own comparison is the right one: it is the same relationship as a pair of jack stands to the service jack that put the car up. The jack raises; the locks hold. Air and hydraulics are for raising, and anything that relies on them to keep holding for an hour is relying on a seal.

Shipping and delivery
This is a freight shipment inside the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout rather than printed here, because freight rates move. Two things decide whether delivery day goes well. First, unloading is yours to arrange: a freight truck will not lift the crate off the trailer for you, so you need a forklift, a skid steer or a comparable machine at the delivery address, or you take the shipment at the carrier terminal instead. Tell us which before it ships. Second, inspect before you sign. Walk the crate, look for crushed corners, punctures, shifted banding and oil marks, and write anything you find on the delivery receipt before the driver leaves. A signed clean receipt is the carrier's proof that the freight arrived undamaged, and a concealed-damage claim raised afterwards is a far harder argument than three words written on the paperwork. Residential delivery is available and carries a residential fee. Warehouse pickup is available at our stocking locations if you would rather collect it.
