Scissor Lift Atlas 7K-Kwik-Bay Portable Car Lift 7,000 lb

Atlas 7K-Kwik-Bay Portable Mid-Rise Scissor Lift

The defining feature of the 7K-Kwik-Bay is what is not underneath the car. Most scissor lifts fill the middle of their own footprint with the scissor structure, which is exactly where you want to be standing. This one is built open through the centre, so once the vehicle is up you can get at the underside instead of looking at it through a gap.

It is free standing and portable — 7,000 lb capacity, no anchors, no pit, no ceiling structure. You drive over the ramps, set the rubber blocks under the manufacturer's lifting points and raise. There is no arm to swing, position and re-check, which is why it suits quick-service bays and wheel work where the same job repeats forty times a day.

Will It Fit?

This is a floor-space question rather than a ceiling question, which is unusual for a lift and is most of its appeal.

  • Footprint. Roughly 85 1/2" long by 72" wide overall, with the platforms themselves 56" long. It needs a flat, sound, level slab under it.
  • Height. It is a mid-rise. Atlas's marketing copy describes it as giving over 39" of lifting height; the manufacturer's specification sheet lists a maximum lifting height of 41" with the rubber blocks in place, and a minimum height of 4 1/4" at the bottom of its travel. Those two figures come from two different sources, so if a specific inch matters to your job, confirm it with us before you order rather than working from either number alone.
  • Power. 110 volt operation, with a 30 amp breaker required. A plug is not supplied.
  • Air. The single-point lock release is air-operated from an external supply of up to 120 PSI. That compressor is not included.
  • Delivery. 1,441 lbs shipping weight.

Verifying your slab, your circuit and your air supply is the customer's responsibility. Portable does not mean requirement-free — it means the requirements are electrical and structural rather than architectural.

The 6" Rule: The Most Useful Thing on This Page

Set a vehicle's frame rails too close to the inside edges of the platforms and you get what Atlas calls the "pigeon toe" effect — the platforms load unevenly and the lift does not sit square under the car. The rule is simple and it is not optional: keep vehicle frames at least 6" in from the inside of the platforms.

Related, and equally practical: maintain 2" to 6" of space between the lift and the vehicle's lifting points when you are setting up. For genuinely narrow-frame vehicles that cannot meet the rule, Atlas builds a scissor lift support bar kit, and it is a far better answer than improvising with blocks. This is the kind of installation detail that almost never appears on a competing product page, and it is precisely the detail that decides whether the lift works for your car.

Why Open-Centre Changes What You Can Do With It

A full-superstructure mid-rise is excellent for wheels-off work and frustrating for anything else, because the structure that lifts the car is parked in the space you need. Removing it changes the job list: exhaust sections, transmission pans, brake lines and inspection work all become reachable from underneath rather than from the side.

The trade-off is honest and worth stating. An open-centre lift picks the vehicle up at four rubber blocks under its designated lifting points, so those points have to be sound and correctly identified. It is not a frame-machine substitute and it is not a full-rise two-post — what it is, is a lift that gets a car high enough to work under comfortably without giving up the middle of the car.

Built to Be Used, Not Just Installed

Dual power cylinders raise both sides together, which is what keeps the platform stable at every lock position rather than only at the top. Grease zerk fittings are fitted at the hinge points — a small thing that says the lift was designed to be maintained, since ungreasable hinge pins on a scissor are a wear item you cannot service. The safety locks are mechanical and solid, with a single-point air release so the lift comes down under control from one place.

Perfect For

  • Quick-service and express bays where the same oil, tire and brake jobs repeat all day and arm positioning is dead time.
  • Wheel and tire specialists who need the car up fast and square.
  • Home and hobby garages where a permanent two-post is not possible — this rolls out of the way and does not touch the ceiling.
  • Mobile and multi-bay operations that need to move a lift between spaces rather than commit a bay to it.

What's in the Box

  • The lift with drive-over ramps
  • Heavy-duty rubber lifting blocks
  • Air-operated single-point lock release (external air supply required, not included)
  • Grease zerk fittings at the hinge points

Not included: the air compressor, the electrical plug, and the scissor lift support bar kit for narrow-frame vehicles — that last one is a separate Atlas accessory and worth adding to the order if you already know your car is narrow.

Certification, Stated Plainly

Atlas does not publish an independent third-party safety listing for the 7K-Kwik-Bay, and we are not going to let one be assumed. The difference is real: under a third-party scheme an outside laboratory tests the design and audits the factory, and the lift then carries that body's label. Without it, you are buying against the manufacturer's own specification.

For a home garage or a private shop that is usually a non-issue. It stops being a non-issue when an insurer, a fleet contract or a local workplace code names a listing as a condition — and that is not something that can be retrofitted to a lift after purchase. Check your own requirement first; if you need a listed lift, tell us and we will point you at one instead of selling you this.

Shipping and Delivery

Delivered by freight carrier within the lower 48. Freight is quoted live at checkout for your exact destination, so the figure is specific to your address rather than a national average.

Freight is curbside by nature: the truck arrives, and unloading is on you. Have a forklift, a loading dock or enough hands and equipment arranged before delivery day, or select terminal pickup and collect the crate yourself. If it is going to a house rather than a commercial address, residential delivery is available and carries a residential fee.

Check the crate over before you sign for it. Photograph anything that looks wrong, write the damage onto the bill of lading in front of the driver, and keep your copy. That written note is what makes a claim straightforward instead of a fight.

Warranty

The 7K-Kwik-Bay carries a 2 year structural warranty and a 2 year hydraulic warranty. Structural covers the load-bearing steel; hydraulic covers the cylinders, pump and associated components. Both are parts warranties — the component is supplied, the labour to fit it is yours.

The one instruction that protects your claim: do not take the assembly apart before you report it. If a cylinder weeps or a lock behaves oddly, photograph it in place, stop using the lift, and call us. A hydraulic component that arrives dismantled has lost the evidence needed to establish what failed, and that is where otherwise valid claims die. Keep the slab, the electrical work and the operating instructions in mind too — damage from an unsound floor or from lifting outside the manufacturer's designated points is not a manufacturing defect.
