AMGO SML-7: a 7,000 lb single-post lift released from one handle

What separates the SML-7 from most of what is rated at 7,000 lbs is not a number on a sheet — it is the locking. Every arm locks itself as the vehicle settles onto it, and all of them come free again from a single patented handle instead of four catches reached one at a time around a raised car. That is the reason to look at this lift.

The second reason is the column count: no overhead beam, no base plate crossing the floor and no second post eating the other side of the bay, so the SML-7 goes where a two-post cannot and can be moved again afterwards. That portability is the proposition.

The power unit, and the one thing to settle before an electrician quotes

Our data lists the SML-7 with a choice of power unit: a 1.0 HP, 110V / 60Hz single-phase build or a 2.0 HP, 220V / 60Hz single-phase one, with a full lift cycle of about 84 seconds on the 110V unit. The manufacturer's currently published specification table lists a single configuration rather than a pair, and one lifting time rather than two.

We will not tell you the second build has been withdrawn, nor that it is still offered — we cannot establish either from here, and guessing on your behalf is how a buyer pays an electrician twice. Confirm which motor and which supply voltage actually ship with this lift, in writing, before you have a circuit run to where it will stand. If cycle speed is part of why you are buying, that is the same conversation: the faster figure belongs to the build in question, which is why no number for it appears here.

One column, and how the vehicle is actually held

A single-post lift concentrates everything into one structure, so the safety design is layered rather than spread across two columns. The SML-7 uses a dual-lock safety mechanism: two locking provisions rather than one, so the vehicle is held mechanically once the lift is set, with the hydraulics holding position rather than weight.

The arms carry their own locking. An auto-engaged arm lock secures each arm as soon as the vehicle is set on it — no separate step to forget — and AMGO's patented single-handle arm lock release frees them again from one handle rather than four separate catches around a raised vehicle.

The hydraulic cylinder is built to high standards using imported oil, and the carriage rides on self-lubricating UHMW polyethylene sliders and a self-lubricating bronze bush. That matters more on a portable lift than a fixed one: a machine that gets moved is one whose maintenance schedule slips.

Adjustable arms, and the vehicles they reach

The lifting arms are adjustable with two-stage extension, so one lift covers a range of frames and wheelbases rather than a single vehicle class. Extension adapters come with the combined rubber-pad assembly — both drop-in and double-screw types — so the contact points are set to the vehicle rather than the vehicle wedged onto the pads. Maximum lifting height on the pads, without the extension adapters fitted, is listed on this page as 72 1/4″ to 74 13/16″ (disputed — see below), and the lift's own overall height is 108 7/8″.

Will it fit?

Checking the site is the buyer's responsibility, and on a portable lift it is worth doing for every place you plan to use it.

• Ceiling: the structure stands 108 7/8″ tall. Measure to the lowest thing over the bay — lighting, door track, heater.
• Lifted height: as listed on this page, 72 1/4″ to 74 13/16″ on the pads without extension adapters (disputed — see below).
• Power: our data lists 1.0 HP at 110V / 60Hz single phase or 2.0 HP at 220V / 60Hz single phase; the manufacturer's current table lists one configuration. Settle this in writing before the circuit is run.
• Floor: a single-post lift concentrates its load into one anchored footprint, so the slab matters more here, not less. The installation manual states the requirement; we will not print a figure we cannot verify for your building. Have an old, cracked or unknown floor assessed first.
• Overall footprint: ask us. Our own data holds two different overall-width figures, one of them identical to the overall length we hold — which is what a swapped pair of fields looks like. We are not going to pick one for you; better to answer from the manufacturer's drawing than have you plan a bay around a number nobody can stand behind.

The SML-7 carries the most contradicted product data we hold: our own sheets disagree with each other in places, and AMGO's currently published specification disagrees with ours in others. Both are set out here rather than tidied away.

• Maximum lifting height with the extension adapters fitted. Not printed. Our own sources give it two ways, and the manufacturer publishes a lower maximum than either.
• Maximum lifting height without the adapters. Printed above and flagged as ours, because the manufacturer's published heights for this lift sit lower across the board.
• Minimum pad height. Not printed. Our own two fields disagree and the manufacturer publishes a lower figure than either. It often decides a purchase, since it sets whether a low car can be driven over the arms.
• Overall width and shipping weight. Not printed — our own sources disagree on both.
• The 220V lifting time. Not printed, for the reason given further up.

None of this says the manufacturer is right and we are wrong, or the reverse — only that the two do not agree and we can see no way to settle it from here. If any of these decides your purchase, ask us in writing before you order and we will have it confirmed against the manufacturer's drawing.

Certification, stated precisely

The claim AMGO makes here is narrow and we will keep it narrow: the power unit is ETL certified. That is a listing on an electrical component, not an independent third-party safety listing of the complete lift, and the two get blurred constantly. For a few buyers it decides everything — some insurance policies, fleet operations and local jurisdictions require a full-lift listing by name. If yours does, tell us which before you order.

Shipping and delivery

The SML-7 ships as freight inside the lower 48, and the rate is fetched from the carrier for your address at checkout rather than printed here. Portable or not, it arrives crated on a standard trailer, and getting it to your floor is the receiver's responsibility. A forklift makes it quick; without one, take terminal pickup or collect from an AMGO warehouse listed further down this page. A residential delivery address carries a residential fee, shown at checkout. Inspect the crate with the driver still there — torn wrap, crushed corners, cut banding or a load that has shifted goes onto the bill of lading before you sign.

Warranty

AMGO issues a written warranty document for this equipment; we will send you the current version before you buy. One habit protects those terms: do not dismantle a power unit, cylinder, valve, hose or lock assembly before a claim is opened. A part that has been taken apart is treated as a modified part. Photograph the fault, take the serial number off the column, and call us first.
