AMGO PRO-14A: 14,000 lbs parked on steel, at a height you can work at

An alignment is only as good as how still the vehicle is holding. The PRO-14A parks its load on a mechanical self-locking device released by shop air, backed by primary locks the whole way up the travel and a cable-slack protection system. Engagement is passive — the lock is what happens if nothing else does — and coming off it takes air and a deliberate action. You raise the vehicle to a comfortable height, it settles onto steel, and it stays there while you chase a quarter of a degree.

The rest is a 14,000 lbs four-post that earns its keep between alignments: cable-driven on aircraft-standard cable, stepless runway width, a 2.0 HP power unit, and slip plates set into the runways with adjustable turnplate pockets. What arrives in the crate and what is ordered separately is covered in the note below — read it before you order, because on an alignment rack that is a buying decision rather than a detail.

What the alignment geometry actually gives you

Turnplate pockets only help if they sit where your vehicles' front wheels sit. The four-wheel and two-wheel alignment spans published for the PRO-14A are in the table below — and they are among the figures the manufacturer's current specification disagrees with, so treat them as the start of a conversation rather than as a fitment guarantee, especially if the longest vehicle you intend to align is near the limit.

The slip plates matter for a different reason. During a toe adjustment the tyres have to be free to move sideways as the linkage changes, or the suspension binds and the readings settle wrong the moment the vehicle is driven off. Slip plates let the wheels relax. Without them you are adjusting against a load, and your alignment is measured on a vehicle that is not sitting the way it will sit on the road.

Will It Fit?

Confirm these before ordering. It is the buyer's job to verify the building and the slab — we have no way to see them.

• Floor length. 257″ overall with ramps, 216 9/16″ without. Add your own approach room at the ramp end; the number on the sheet is the lift, not the manoeuvring space.
• Floor width. 130 7/8″ overall, 116″ between the columns. Alignment work in particular means walking the vehicle repeatedly, so give yourself real side clearance rather than the minimum.
• Drive-through. 102 1/16″ between the carriages, with the drive-thru width listed as 8.5 ft and 9.5 ft between the columns.
• Ceiling. The lift stands 86 3/16″ tall unloaded. Your ceiling has to clear the tallest vehicle you will raise plus the rise you use, not the height of the lift.
• Floor condition and power. A four-post carries its load through four base plates, so the slab has to be sound and level under all four. The thickness and strength requirement is in the installation manual attached to this listing. The 2.0 HP power unit needs its own properly sized circuit.

Height, and the number people read wrong

Maximum lifting height is 77 3/16″, but the figure you will work at is 74″ — the maximum lock height to the top of the runway. Underneath the runway you get 68 1/2″ of clearance, 65 3/8″ at the highest lock. At its lowest the lift sits at 9 7/8″, which is what the ramps have to climb.

Why there are several locks, not one

Primary safety locks run the whole travel, so any single failure drops the platform to the next lock rather than to the floor. The cable-slack protection system halts the lift if an equalising cable loses tension — the honest failure mode of any cable-driven lift, since cables stretch over years and slack is the early warning. The synchronisation cables are aircraft-standard, and the hydraulic cylinder uses high-quality oil seals with a compensation valve.

The lift includes the ETL certified power unit as standard, non-skid diamond platforms, the integrated slip plates and adjustable turnplate pockets, the mechanical self-locking device with its air release, the primary lock set, the cable-slack protection system and the aircraft-standard synchronisation cables. Two figures here are wrong on their face, and several more are contested

Confirm the alignment window and what is actually in the crate with us in writing before you order. Start with the two that are self-evidently broken. The gross weight printed in our spec data carries a digit too many — it is a typing error rather than a specification, and it is shown above marked as one instead of being quietly deleted. And one row of the rendered spec table on this page gives a length where the motor rating belongs; our own spec sheet and the manufacturer agree with each other about the motor, so read the sheet rather than that row.

Then the contested ones. Against the figures printed here, the manufacturer's current specification gives a longer maximum four-wheel alignment span, a shorter maximum two-wheel one, a shorter runway length, a single width-between-runways figure in place of our nominal-plus-range, a different outside-edge range and a slightly longer lifting time. The minimum runway spacing in our table is not credible either — nothing drives onto runways a few inches apart. We assert neither side; this lift's numbers are republished by other sellers word for word, so agreement elsewhere shows only a shared source.

Last, the alignment hardware. Our data lists integrated slip plates and adjustable turnplate pockets as part of the deck; the manufacturer's current parts listing shows the turnplates themselves as a separately ordered kit, a pair to a lift. Ask us what is in the crate, in writing, before you quote an alignment on it.

Certification, stated plainly

The power unit that comes with this lift is ETL certified. Read that for exactly what it says: an electrical listing on the power unit, not a third-party safety listing of the finished lift. The two are different documents and the first does not stand in for the second. If your insurance policy, a fleet contract, a franchise standard or your local jurisdiction requires whole-lift third-party certification, check the wording of that requirement before you commit — some alignment warranty and franchise programmes are specific about it.

Shipping and delivery

Freight only, lower 48. The carrier books an appointment with you before delivery. Unloading is on you: a forklift, telehandler or dock, or take terminal pickup and collect the shipment yourself with the right equipment. A residential delivery address adds a residential fee, quoted live at checkout. Warehouse pickup is available at Manning, SC, Dallas, TX and Temecula, CA.

When it arrives, inspect before you sign. Photograph the crate and note anything at all on the bill of lading while the driver is standing there — a clean bill of lading states that the shipment arrived intact.
