AMGO OHX-10H: the 10,000 lb clear-floor lift that adjusts to the bay in three directions

Most two-post lifts are a fixed shape. You measure your bay, you find the model that fits it, and if nothing fits you go without. The OHX-10H takes the opposite approach: its overall width, its drive-through gap, its column spacing and its overall height are all adjustable, and the Super Asymmetric arms will take a vehicle in either an asymmetric or a symmetric position. Overall width runs 134 15/16″ to 140 7/8″, the drive-through opens from 99 13/16″ to 105 11/16″, the columns sit 112 19/32″ to 118 1/2″ apart, and the overhead assembly builds at 157″ or 168″.

That is the buying argument in one paragraph. This is the 10,000 lb lift for a bay whose dimensions are awkward, or for a shop that does not yet know what the next ten years of vehicles will look like. Everything is trimmed at installation, and none of it costs an accessory kit.

Will It Fit?

Every number below is one to check against your own building before you order. The measuring is yours - we cannot see your bay, and a lift that does not fit ships back on a freight truck.

  • Ceiling. The overhead assembly builds at either 157″ or 168″ to the top of the beam. Measure to the lowest thing over the bay - the door track, a light, a heater flue - and leave working room above it. Which build height you are ordering is worth a phone call rather than an assumption.
  • Floor width. 134 15/16″ to 140 7/8″ overall, depending on where you set it, with 112 19/32″ to 118 1/2″ between the columns. Set it wide and the technician gets room down the flanks; set it narrow and the lift fits a tighter bay. You cannot have both, so decide which problem you have.
  • Drive-through. 99 13/16″ to 105 11/16″ between the carriages. Check it against your widest regular vehicle, mirror to mirror, at the setting you actually intend to run.
  • Power. A 2.0HP motor on 220V. That supply has to be in place, on its own breaker, before the lift is stood up.
  • Concrete. The slab thickness and strength the anchors require are specified in the installation manual, not in the marketing copy, and they are not something to guess at. Read the manual before you order. If you do not know what your floor is made of, core it, and never anchor a column on a crack or across an expansion joint.

Super Asymmetric arms, and what the word actually buys you

A symmetric lift puts the vehicle centred between the columns, which is fine until the driver has to open a door. An asymmetric lift rotates the columns and shortens the front arms so the vehicle sits back and the doors clear - good for cars, awkward for a long truck. Super Asymmetric arms are the compromise that works: the same lift will take a small car in the asymmetric position with the doors free, and a long-wheelbase truck in the symmetric position with the load balanced over the carriages. For a shop that cannot predict what drives in next, that is the difference between one lift and two.

Carriage synchronisation runs on 3/8″ aircraft-quality cable, and the carriages ride on self-lubricating UHMW polyethylene sliders and bronze bushings. Slider material is what decides how a two-post ages - self-lubricating surfaces are what stop one going noisy and sticky in year four.

Two independent lock systems, and an overhead stop

The OHX-10H carries a dual safety design with a single-point release: both columns unlock from one handle, so nobody walks around a loaded vehicle to free the second side. Above the carriages there is an overhead safety stop device, which is the mechanical answer to the classic two-post mistake of driving a tall van or a roof rack straight into the beam. Automatic arm restraints lock each arm as the lift rises so an arm cannot creep or swing once the load is on it.

Clear floor, and why that matters more than it sounds

There is no base plate between the columns. Nothing crosses the floor, which means a transmission jack, a creeper, an oil drain or a rolling toolbox goes wherever it needs to go, and there is no ridge for someone to catch a foot on twenty times a day. In a bay that is also a walkway, that is a real working difference rather than a specification.

Perfect For

  • General service shops running unpredictable mixed work - the adjustable width and the asymmetric-or-symmetric arms exist for exactly this buyer.
  • Awkward bays where a fixed-width lift is a few inches too wide or a few inches too narrow.
  • Growing shops that expect the vehicle mix to change and do not want the lift to be the limiting factor.
  • Serious home garages with the ceiling for a full overhead lift and a preference for an unbroken floor.

What is in the crate

  • Two columns and the overhead beam assembly with the safety stop device
  • Super Asymmetric arms with automatic arm restraints
  • Dual hydraulic cylinders with the high-standard seal set
  • 3/8″ aircraft-quality synchronisation cables
  • Stackable adapters at 1.5″, 2.5″ and 5″, supplied as standard rather than sold as an extra

The stackable adapter set is worth calling out because it is the item most often quoted separately elsewhere. Anchors are specified in the manual, the electrical supply is yours, and slab work is yours.

Certification, stated plainly

AMGO markets the OHX-10H as CE approved and certified, meeting or exceeding European Standard EN-1493. Take that for exactly what it is. The CE marking is a manufacturer's own declaration of conformity against European directives. It is not the same document as a North American third-party lift safety listing, and it does not stand in for one. For a home garage, and for a great many independent shops, that distinction never comes up. It does come up for some commercial insurance policies, for fleet and municipal operations, and in jurisdictions whose code names a specific listing. Establish what your insurer or inspector requires before you order, not after the columns are anchored.

Shipping and delivery

This lift travels by freight truck within the lower 48, and the freight is quoted live against your address at checkout rather than guessed at in advance. The crate is long, narrow and top-heavy - two columns and a beam - and getting it off the trailer is the receiver's responsibility. That means a forklift rated for the load and able to reach the middle of the crate, or a collection booked from the carrier's local terminal, which is frequently the simpler route because the terminal already has the equipment. A residential delivery carries a residential fee, applied at checkout when you choose it.

Check the shipment before you sign anything. Look along the columns for bends, check the beam and the ramps of the crate for crush damage, look for missing banding and for any oil trace, then record what you see on the bill of lading in front of the driver and photograph it. Once you sign clean, the carrier has documentary proof that the load arrived undamaged.

Warranty

AMGO covers the OHX-10H with a five-year warranty on steel components, a three-year warranty on hydraulic parts and a two-year warranty on electrical components. How to open a claim with us is set out at mechanicsuperstore.com/pages/warranty-claims.

One rule applies to every hydraulic lift, whoever made it: do not disassemble a power unit, a cylinder, a cable assembly or a lock mechanism before a claim is opened. A stripped component is normally treated as a modified one, and that is the quickest way to lose cover you were entitled to. Photograph the fault, take the serial number off the column, and call us first.
