Description
-The leverless head takes the tyre lever out of the job
Almost every scratched alloy, every torn bead and a good share of workshop hand injuries in tyre work trace back to the same object: the lever. The Tuxedo TC-1300 is built around a leverless demount tool, so the bead is lifted and guided by the head itself rather than by an operator hauling on a bar with a rim edge as the fulcrum. That single design decision changes the work. It is repeatable between technicians instead of depending on technique, it is far kinder to expensive wheels, and it removes the moment when a bar can slip.
The rest of the machine is arranged to support that. The column tilts back out of the way, giving the operator open room around the turntable instead of a fixed tower to work around. A three-function assist arm holds and presses the tyre where a second pair of hands would otherwise be needed, which is what makes low-profile and run-flat sidewalls a normal job rather than a fight.
Will it work in your shop?
Two supplies decide this, and both are worth confirming before you order.
- Electrical: 110V, 15 Amp, single phase. This is an ordinary shop circuit rather than a three-phase or higher-voltage installation, which is unusually convenient for a machine of this capability — a mobile fitter's unit, a small independent workshop or a home shop can run it without an electrical project attached.
- Air: 125 psi working pressure. The clamps, the bead blaster jets, the locking hex shaft and the assist arm are all pneumatic, so the compressor behind this machine matters as much as the machine. Check both the pressure your compressor holds under load and its recovery rate, not just the number on the tank badge.
For space, plan around the tilt-back column: you need clearance behind the machine for the column to lay back, room in front for a wheel to be rolled in and laid down, and standing room to the side for the operator and the assist arm. The unit ships at 975 lbs, so check the route to its final position and the floor it will sit on. All of this is the buyer's to verify — a tape measure and a look at the breaker panel now is much cheaper than a redelivery later.
Bead blasting from all four clamps
Seating a stubborn bead is the other place tyre work goes wrong, and the usual answer is a single blast port that has to be aimed. The TC-1300 puts dual bead blaster jets on all four clamps, so the charge of air enters around the whole circumference at once instead of from one side. In practice that means fewer repeated attempts, less flailing of the tyre on the table and a better chance of seating an obstinate low-profile bead first time. Inflation hose and air gauge are supplied with the machine, so pressure setting is done on the changer rather than by walking the wheel to a separate line.
The pneumatic locking hex shaft
The centre shaft locks pneumatically. It sounds like a detail and it decides the rhythm of the work: the wheel is clamped and released with a control rather than with a threaded handwheel to spin down and back up on every single tyre. Over a busy day the time saved is real, but the more important part is consistency — the clamp force does not depend on how hard the last technician tightened it.
Perfect for
- Independent tyre shops handling a modern mix of alloys, low profiles and run-flats where lever damage is a live cost.
- General repair shops adding tyre work in house, especially where only a standard 110V circuit is available.
- Performance and restoration shops mounting expensive wheels that must not be marked.
- Mobile and small-fleet operations that need capability without a heavy electrical installation.
- Dealership service departments where seasonal changeovers put volume through one machine and consistency between technicians matters.
What is included
The changer with its tilt-back column, the leverless demount tool, the three-function assist arm, the pneumatic locking hex shaft, four clamps carrying dual bead blaster jets, and the inflation hose and air gauge. Tuxedo lists one compatible accessory for this machine as a separate purchase; if you want it on the same freight booking, tell us before you order rather than after.

Two of those numbers deserve a sentence rather than a row. The inside and outside clamp ranges are different jobs: inside clamping grips from within the rim and gives you the larger range, outside clamping grips the rim edge and is what you reach for on wheels that will not tolerate the jaws inside. Check your fleet against both, not just the headline diameter.
About certification
Tuxedo does not claim any independent third-party listing for this machine in the data supplied to us, and we are not going to imply one on its behalf. The distinction matters more than it is usually given credit for: a manufacturer declaring that a machine is built to a standard is not the same thing as an outside body having examined and listed it, and insurers, corporate safety programmes and some local jurisdictions require the latter specifically. If any of those govern your workshop, get the requirement in writing from whoever imposes it and send it to us before ordering. We would rather answer it honestly up front than have you take delivery of a machine that will not pass your own inspection.
Shipping and delivery
Delivered by freight to the lower 48, with the cost quoted live at checkout against your address so it reflects current rates. You need a way to take it off the truck — a forklift with the capacity for it, or a dock — or you can arrange to collect from the carrier's local terminal instead. Deliveries to a residential address carry a residential fee, shown before you pay.
Check the machine before you sign. Look at the banding, the pallet, the column and the guarding, note anything at all on the delivery receipt before signing it, photograph the shipment as it comes off the truck, and message us the same day. Freight damage is settled with the carrier rather than under warranty, and a receipt signed clean closes off most of that route.
Warranty
This changer carries the manufacturer's limited warranty. The current terms, what is excluded and how a claim is opened are published on our warranty claims page, which we link rather than restate — the terms are Tuxedo's to set and a paraphrase on a product page goes stale without anyone noticing. If a specific term is part of your decision, ask us to confirm it in writing before you order. And if something does go wrong, photograph the fault as found and talk to us before dismantling or modifying anything: a component that has already been taken apart is usually outside the claim.
