Description
-Triumph RJ-9: the number that decides whether it fits is not the capacity
A rolling bridge jack is sold on its lifting capacity, and capacity is almost never the thing that stops one working. Fit is. This jack rides on the runways of a four-post lift, and the specification that matters is the runway span it adjusts across: 43.8 to 52.3 inches. If the gap between your runways sits outside that window, no amount of lifting capacity helps you. Measure your own lift, outside face to outside face and between the runways, before you order this or any other bridge jack.
With that settled, the RJ-9 does the job a four-post cannot do on its own. A four-post holds the car on its wheels, which is exactly wrong for brakes, tyres, hubs, bearings and most suspension work. The jack rolls along the runways, lifts the vehicle by the axle or frame with 9,000 lbs of capacity, and gives you wheels-free access without moving the car to another lift.
Will It Fit?
Three measurements, taken on your own lift, in this order. All figures are Triumph's; checking them against your equipment is your responsibility and takes about five minutes.
- Between the runways. The jack adjusts from 43.8 inches to 52.3 inches. This is the pass-or-fail measurement.
- Pad spread. The lifting pads set from 40.1 inches to 59.8 inches apart, which is what lets you reach a lifting point on a narrow car and on a wide truck from the same tool.
- Height. It sits 16.9 inches high when lowered and lifts to 32.4 inches. The lowered figure is the one that matters for whether it will roll under the vehicle already parked on your lift.
Why wheels-free changes what a four-post is
The usual objection to a four-post lift is that it does the storage job and the inspection job well and the mechanical job badly, because the suspension is loaded and the wheels are on the deck. A bridge jack removes that objection for the price of an accessory rather than the price of a second lift. Brake work, wheel bearings, tyre rotation, spring and damper work, hub and driveshaft access — all of it becomes available on the lift you already own.
It is also the safer way to get there than the alternative most people actually use, which is a trolley jack balanced on a runway. A purpose-built bridge jack locates positively on both runways and takes the load in line with the structure, and that is a meaningfully different proposition from a floor jack sitting on a narrow steel deck five feet in the air.
Perfect For
- Anyone who already owns a four-post and keeps hitting the wheels-on limitation.
- Home garages and collectors who bought a four-post for storage and now want to service the cars on it.
- Small shops extending a storage or inspection bay into a service bay without buying a second lift.
What's in the Box
The jack ships with its lifting pads and adapters. Because bridge jack accessory packs vary and because compatibility with a specific four-post is the whole question here, tell us which lift you own and we will confirm both fit and inclusions before you order. That is a two-minute conversation that avoids a freight bill in both directions.

Certification, stated plainly
We are not going to decorate this page with a compliance badge the product data does not support. The material we hold on this jack does not include an independent North American lift-safety listing from a third-party testing body, and we are not going to imply one with vague language about being "tested" or "approved" — those words mean whatever the writer wants them to mean.
Here is why it matters rather than why it sounds bad. Some commercial insurance policies, some fleet and municipal maintenance contracts, and some local building or fire code officials specifically require that shop lifting equipment carry an independent safety listing. Most home garages and a great many independent shops are under no such requirement at all. Only you know which side of that line you are on, so check it in writing with your insurer or your inspector before you buy — for this unit or for any other one you are comparing it against. Ask us what documentation ships in the crate and we will tell you exactly what is in there.
Shipping and delivery
This ships as freight, not as a parcel. It travels on an LTL truck to addresses in the lower 48 states, and the delivery charge you see at checkout is a live carrier quote worked out for your own ZIP code rather than a figure typed into this page, so nothing here goes stale on you.
Two practical points decide whether the delivery day is uneventful. The first is unloading: somebody at the receiving end has to get the crate off the back of the truck. A forklift, a tractor with forks, or a telehandler will do it. If none of that is available to you, choose warehouse pickup instead and collect the crate on a trailer, because the freight terminal has the equipment to load you. The second is the address type. A delivery to a home is handled differently from a delivery to a commercial address and carries a residential fee, so tell us which one it is when you order rather than sorting it out on the doorstep.
Inspect the shipment before you sign for it. Walk the crate, look for punctures, crushed corners and shifted banding, and write what you find on the bill of lading while the driver is still there. A clean signature is the carrier's evidence that everything arrived intact, and it is very hard to argue with afterwards. Photographs taken at the tailgate are worth far more than photographs taken in the garage an hour later.
Warranty and claims
Triumph publishes its warranty terms in its own documentation rather than in this listing, and we would rather send you the current document than paraphrase a term that may since have changed. Ask us for it before you order and we will give you the version that applies to this model and to the way you intend to use it, since commercial and residential use are not always covered identically.
One rule matters more than the wording of the terms. If something fails, do not take it apart. Disassembling a component before the manufacturer has had the chance to inspect it is the most common reason a legitimate claim gets refused, because once it is in pieces nobody can establish what actually happened. Stop using the equipment, photograph the failure where it sits, and call us first.
